Note: The names of characters in songs for women are fictitious but the events are real; real for me.

This song is one of the most important fragments of my existence. All my songs for women can be used for an autobiography of a past middle aged Lebanese man.

An Inch Taller Than Her Country Girls (Dec. 2002)

I love, respect and admire Rose.

I will cherish her for the rest of my life.

She loved me, helped me unconditionally and worried for me.

This said, I apologize for my candid story,

But it has to be candid for my own benefit.

Rose was short but boasted to be taller than most Filipinas.

She took pride to have a lighter skin than most Filipinas.

Apparently, she was part Chinese, from her father side.

Her mother was tall, huge and large in contrast to her.

Rose married a giant of an American in the Philippine and divorced him.

She had a smart girl, Shannon, and a boy, Jason, who grew to be big.

She worked awfully hard at many jobs to make ends meet.

I met her at a night club, a thirty minutes drive from the city where she lived.

She liked to dance a lot and wanted to dance with me.

Rose had thick prescription glasses like mine and always wore pants.

She was stylish, spent at least a couple of hours on her make-up,

And another hour for its removal before going to bed.

Rose sold cosmetics on the side, the sort of multilayered selling agent.

That night, she gave me a lift in her car to her apartment.

In her bedroom she stood on my feet and kissed me.

She said: “You are thinking too much.

If it was not obvious what I want, you would not be in my bedroom”.

We shared a hot bath.

I was shocked at the sight of her hips, tremendously large, naked.

She was plagued by nasty varicose from her knees down to her ankles.

These were visual handicaps only, but no real bother in her active life.

She consulted a cosmetic surgeon for her drooping right eyelid

To be pleasing to me, she said.

The consequences of the surgery were too dangerous

And the physician did not recommend it.

Shortly after we met, she removed her appendix

And she was terribly disappointed when I failed to visit her at the hospital.

Rose once paid me an evening surprise visit at my lab,

In the basement of the engineering department.

We were alone and kissed tenderly,

At every corner of the room and in the corridors.

I had completely forgotten about this event and what we did,

But for her reminiscences about us.

I certainly did not tell her

That I completely forgot about these tender moments that she absolutely cherished.

Once, while making love, I slapped her behind one time too many.

She looked at me in bewilderment.

“Why are you doing that?” she said. What could I say?

That I watched a movie about behind slapping

Or a friend told me that women liked being slapped on their behind?

I did not even apologize.

I am not great in biology,

I know about G-points but not on which side or how many.

From a few of my experiences,

It seems they are located on the left side of the vagina:

The translational direction pointed that way.

With Rose, the G-points may be distributed in a circumference.

Once her vagina grabs me,

I am captured and made prisoner: no egress no ingress or any kind of gress.

She rotates slowly, steadily in a constant velocity.

One day, I was depressed on account of my uncertain future

And Rose got worried.

She said to me: “You are not enjoying our love making. Is it me?”

I lied and said: “It is because you don’t give me much freedom in my movement.

I need to feel in control now and then.”

She let me do my way this one night.

There was a period Rose was angry with me, more like depressed.

She then called me to make up.

Fifteen minutes before her arrival, a male friend of mine came to visit.

He stayed longer than usual and I told him that I am expecting someone.

He was about to leave as Rose showed up.

Rose was furious and got even nasty and said:

“What! You need a friend to mediate?”

I had this nervous laugh that I did not mean at all,

A laugh that could be interpreted as a mockery,

For this ridiculous chain of circumstances.

Rose ran out crying and did not stop.

I could not reach her again.  She vanished.

A friend of hers told me that she resigned from her job

And moved to another State with her kids.

She told me later that she could not suffer

Being that close to me and keep on living.

No man would do a move that stupid! Would he?

After I graduated in May with a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering,

I mailed to her a long letter to Nashville, Tennessee.

Women have this knack of seeing in a letter much more than what it is.

Rose immediately flew back to me.

As soon as she entered, she unzipped my pants and gave me a blow job.

She is not the type to swallow sperms and went to the bathroom to spit.

She said: “Gee, it kept growing and growing in my mouth.

I did not know yours could be that huge.”

Then, I promised her to join her in Nashville soon.

A couple of acquaintances gave me a lift on their way to Kentucky.

The guy was to stay at his folks for the summer

And his girl friend was to pick me up on her return trip.

The same night Rose took me out on a romantic tour.

A girl friend of hers accompanied us.

She wanted her friend as a witness

To what she thought would be a declaration of love.

I had no intention of declaring anything.

It might have crossed my mind to marry her for a while though.

I slept on the sofa that night and the following night.

The third night she moved me into her bed for the duration of the visit.

I tried applying for a position in that period of acute recession.

I even experimented with selling books for a multilevel scheme company.

Rose reluctantly let me use her brand new Japanese car.

I don’t drive other people cars but I was dead broke.

The company allocated me a neighborhood

To sell the “book of the week”

The deal is that you don’t miss a house or a business office in the area

And you tour the streets clockwise to close the loop.

You leave the customers the book of the week for three days for their perusal,

Then you come back the next week to retrieve the book or sell it.

We had to be at the warehouse at six in the morning,

A military style pep talk delivered and trained to memorize definite phrases

To eliminate hesitations and close deals.

At six in the evening we had to learn accounting for our business

And stay way after eight or even nine.

Supposedly, a few of our role models who were poor in math learned to add, to harangue and to get rich.

I lost money in the final analysis because a few books could not be accounted for.

Rose’s ex-husband was to drop by for a few days

And I decided to execute my plan to attend a conference in San Francisco.

And to stay there applying for jobs afterwards.

The graduate student girl picked me up

On her way back to Oklahoma in her tiny beige VW.

A friend lent me $100 for the Greyhound bus fare.

The trip to San Fran lasted almost 3 days and I spent my money on junk food

This is a period I’m still not ready to face much less to write about.

Suffice to admit that I roomed with my adviser in the hotel,

That he woke me up to tell me that my snoring was loud.

After the convention was over,

I was on the verge of joining the file of the homeless.

I managed to be hired in a full-service retirement hotel,

For room and board in exchange of 4 hours work a day.

I accepted all the overtime I could get in all the departments,

Until I was offered the job of assistant to the manager.

Rose visited me and I reserved a room for her in the hotel.

I managed to make love to her a couple of times only.

She sarcastically complained to the manager:

“Adonis kept showing me San Francisco; as if I cared.”

Rose moved to Palo Alto with her ex-husband,

Supposedly in separate rooms,

So that she could be closer to her kids

Who were now studying in California.

An Inch Taller than her Country girls (Continue 4, Dec. 2002)

We kept meeting in San Francisco, going to parks, holding hands,

Not talking much.

We did not attempt any king of love making,

Except for a few furtive kisses.

I was dating another girl but did not tell her.

That is not the reason for not making love:

I am basically faithful to my old flames.

The truth is that she did not ask me explicitly

And I had resigned my position as assistant to the manager:

I had lost a few of the perks and advantages that come with a title.

Rose remarried her ex-husband as of her last letter to me.

The Essence of Wars and the Spice Wars (October 1, 2008)

If you cannot acquire cheaply what you badly want then, borrow money at high interest rates to set up a stealing operation.  Since time immemorial, wars were the most expensive alternatives in order to get what States wanted for refusing to purchase at fair market values.  This article will describe the Spice Wars which Stephen Swig introduced in his “Magellan, the vanquisher of the seas”. As it is known, Magellan is the first mariner to circumnavigate earth’s seas and oceans.

Medieval Europe got hooked and addicted on all the varieties of spices and perfumes arriving through the Arab Moslem World; the aristocratic classes even added spices to their drinks and the values of spices were more expensive than silver and gold; people even sold lands in exchange of spices and perfumes because they were common currencies.

Prices of spices and perfumes were extremely high because the sources of their production were found on remote lands in South-East Asia and by the time every port taxed the shipments and then traveling the deserts of Iraq and Syria and with the loss of one ship for every five in the seas due to the danger of sea faring and pirates then the prices skyrocketed through multi-levels of middlemen.

The Arabic kingdoms knew well the sources of production in Malaysia but they didn’t reach the main islands that were rich in spices beyond the Malacca Straight.  Malacca Straight is still now the most strategic location for maritime commerce where all the ships coming from China, Japan, Viet Nam, Thailand, Burma and the south-east Asian countries and islands have to cross that straight westward and the reverse for the Nations doing commerce eastward.

All the spices and perfumes had to cross the Arab kingdoms, one way or another, and most middlemen, before the shipments of spices reached Europe were Arabs. The European States decided to conquer the Near East under the pretense of a Holy War to re-conquer Jerusalem.

The main target of the crusading campaigns was Egypt as the shortest route to shipments arriving by the Red Sea.  Unfortunately for the European coalitions three targeted Crusading invasions of Egypt failed miserably and the whole business failed for lack of incentives to finance further campaigns.

In the meantime, Venice vanquished Byzantium naval power and became the exclusive wholesaler of spices.  The English, Holland and German middlemen auctioned out the spices on the Rialto Square in Venice and then sold them throughout the main European markets.

It happened that in 1415, one of the sons of the King of Portugal, Prince Henrick, started to doubt the theory and affirmations of Ptolemy which stated that there are no exits in the Atlantic Ocean when you sail west or south and that past the equator in Africa nobody can return alive because of the heat, fire and Evil emanations.  Ptolemy even said that past the equator Africa is not inhabited and is a desolate land. Henrick resumed his research and investigations and trained mariners and built ships to verify his new theories.  Henrick died before he experienced the successes of his endurance and far sightedness.

Within a century, Portugal, the tiniest and poorest State in Europe, became the strongest and richest nation.  Portugal ships colonized the whole of Africa, India, and Malaysia and even reached China and Japan. King Juan II of Portugal had a meeting with Christopher Columbus but didn’t see any value of discovering another route to India going west the Atlantic since the southern route was completely discovered and known and the Pope had allotted Africa and India to the kingdom of Portugal.  The King of Spain invested in Columbus and the Pope had to divide the Atlantic Ocean into two zones; thus, lands discovered were distributed between these two kingdoms; Brazil was within the dividing line of Portugal.

Magellan decided to tour around the world by seas going westward as Columbus: his closest mariner friend Francisco Srao convinced him that the route westward is far shorter in order to visit him in the spice islands of Ternate, Mulouk, Panda and Ambo Ana.  Francisco had been living the good life for nine years among the aborigines’ four islands; it seems that the Arabs had not reached yet these islands.

The 15th century was most active in maritime discovery and the cruelest; the Spanish and Portuguese conquistadors slaughtered the aborigines and brought in to the conquered lands all kinds of diseases that the natives were not immune at.  It was the century that started the wholesale colonial wars among the powerful European States for cheap produces and large markets.

No Shekels anymore for Gaza (September 29, 2008)

The Israeli Central Bank has stopped delivering Shekel (its currency) to Gaza.

Since 1967, after the occupation of Israel to Gaza, the Palestinian inhabitants of Gaza have been linked to the Israeli economy and the Shekel was used for internal commerce.   Egypt refused to have its currency at the disposal of the Palestinians in this tiny and most dense strip of land.

There are certainly dollars in the market, but the economy is so linked to Israel that Israel would not accept any other forms of currencies with businesses doing commerce with her.  This is sort of the last resort that Israel is displaying to pressure Hamas in Gaza to be at her beck and orders.

Since there is no economy if not enough currencies are injected in the market, we comprehend then that Israel is playing the last most dangerous tactics that can turn against her when the Palestinians in Gaza finally realize that there is no hope to dealing fairly with Israel and have nothing to lose anymore.

Before Israel refrained from injecting Shekels in the economy of Gaza two days ago, the inhabitants of Gaza were already living in wretched misery on $2 a day and over 60% of the work force was out of employment because this kind of democratic outcome where radical Hamas won the election does not suit the western nations.

I decided to review an interesting book of chronicles that explains in details the political and social conditions in Gaza.

Caroline Manger, a correspondent to the weekly French magazine Paris Match, wrote “Chroniques de Gaza.  Sous les bombes, la vie”, a documentary of the lives of the Israelis and Palestinians in the Gaza district.  The manuscript is of 270 pages and divided into 24 chapters spanning from February 2004 before the Israeli colonies in and around Gaza were dismantled to August 2007 after the Islamists party of Hamas displaced the security services of the Fateh authority from Gaza.

During the second Palestinian “intifada”, there were frequent skirmishes between the Palestinians and the Israelis living in the colonies in and around Gaza; the security conditions on both sides became untenable. Israel tried to bring security in Gaza by military force and by target assassinations of the leaders of the Palestinian faction, but it failed.

Before former Israel Ariel Sharon PM decided to withdraw the colonies from the Gaza strip, no more than 360 square kilometers and surrounded by Israel from all sides, there were 21 Israeli colonies in this crowded and most dense location on earth.  The colonies were established after 1967 when Israel captured Gaza from Egypt at the instigation and strong support of Arial Sharon; they claimed that practically most of the houses and makeshift residences belonged to Ariel Sharon.

The Israeli colons were ultra-extremists on two counts, politically and religiously:

Politically, the colons of  freshly arrived adventurous immigrants from France and ultra US conservative Christian-Jews wanted to push the borders of Eretz Israel as far as they could.

Religiously, they were as strict religiously as the Islamist Hamas Palestinians faction. The colons prohibited the establishment of movie theaters in their colonies and the households refused to install TV on account of impure display of images.  The women washed fully closed, were hidden from male visitors by a partition and the beaches were separated by gender.

The pre-fabricated apartments and houses were mostly trailers ready to move out on short notice.  The colons adored Sharon they nicknamed him Arik. All the palm and olive trees in the fields separating the colonies from the nearby Palestinian villages were cut down so that the colons could have a clear view of any Palestinian infiltration!  Many US billionaires contributed to building bypass bridges so that the colons would not drive through Palestinian villages.

One colony needed 600 soldiers to protect 50 families and the Palestinian inefficient homemade missiles drove the Israeli government for frequent reprisals to the angst of the European Union.  Sharon then decided to vacate the colonies from Gaza because as he declared “Gaza was anyway never mentioned as belonging to the promised land”

Israel was not serious about any peace plan after the Oslo agreement in 1993 for offering a viable and sustainable Palestinian State and continued to impoverish the Palestinian newly formed Authority in Ramallah and Gaza and endeavored to destroy whatever new facilities and infrastructure that the European Union contributed to.

In May 2004, Israel launched operation “Rainbow and cloud” and sealed off Gaza and pounded it for 5 days and demolished the infrastructure and razed houses for a corridor before the final withdrawal of the colonies in August 22, 2005. On the 5th day of the preemptive war, when all the guns went silent, the Israeli snipers killed many children less than 10 years old to keep the reign of terror.

The author, Caroline Manger, gives horrid detailed account of the Palestinian victims and the situation in these makeshift clinics, transformed into hospitals, during Israeli military incursions.

For a year, as Mahmoud Abbas was elected President the Palestinians, he wanted to believe in a peace process but it failed and Israel resumed its targeted assassinations of Hamas leaders such as its founder, blind and paraplegic leader, Cheikh Yassine and then his successor the pediatric Al Rantissi; thus Hamas gained supporters.

In the meantime, the colons who had pledged to fight the fight against any eviction left voluntarily two days before the ultimatum; the hefty compensations were a serious factor (obviously paid for by the US tax payers).

As soon as the Israeli colons departed,  the Palestinian resistance fighters ventured into Gaza City; they were hiding for over six months in their dug out and undergrounds resisting Israel frequent incursions in Gaza and then they were awestruck to discover the luxurious trend that the cronies of the Abbas’ Authority were carrying on.  These fighters were not even merged into the Authority internal security forces because President Abbas decided to hire only young people of less than 22 of age to secure their loyalty.  The fighters found out that they were out of employment and their dedication and sacrifices not appreciated.

When a democratic election that the western States insisted on carrying out in Gaza took place, Hamas ended up winning the parliamentary election by a land slide.  The Abbas’ Authority refused to cooperate with Hamas in the re-shuffling of the security services that harassed, imprisoned, tortured and even killed Hamas members since 1998.

Maybe Hamas prematurely agreed to form a majority government because the Western States cut off all financial aid to the new Hamas government and the civil servants were not paid for over 4 months.  The States of Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia didn’t appreciate the coming into power of a radical Islamic party and did their best to put the squeeze even more.

Finally, Hamas evicted the Fateh forces, headed by strongman Dahlan, from Gaza when it realized that the US is funding the Authority’s preventive security services with over $60 million for cracking down on Hamas.  The offensive didn’t last 5 days before the Fateh forces fled Gaza; many of the high paid and corrupt officers bribed heavily to have passages through the underground tunnels linking Gaza to Egypt.

No Shekels for Gaza? But who would bail out the faltering Shekel anyway?

The way I see it is that Israel has reached a period of deep corruption at many high levels in its civil administration and military infrastructures and total mistrust in its leaders and the validity of its Zionist ideology that it is on the verge of serious chaos.

Personal note:  In the mid 1980’s, Israel transferred Islamic Palestinians to the southern borders of Lebanon hoping that Lebanon would welcome them as refugees; this did not happen.  The transferred Palestinians lived in makeshift tents for over 6 months before Israel was forced by the international community to re-transfer them to Gaza.

Consequently, a new Islamic fundamentalist party was instituted called Hamas.  Many claim that Israel created Hamas, as the USA administrations created the Afghan Mujahideens to face the Soviet invasion, in order to destabilize the concept of a democratic bi-partisan government with Israel.  The Organization for the Liberation of Palestine (OLP) was lead by the Palestinian secular main faction of Fateh and headed by Arafat.  Israel would not accept this political structure for fear of demographic imbalance in the near future and wanted a purely Jewish State.
