Germaine & Benjamin: Love Passion Stories; (August 26, 2009)

Germaine de Stael or Stael was a renowned writer; she wrote “Corinne”.  Benjamin Constant wrote “Adolphe” and “Cecile”.   Mrs. de Stael was a piss off but she had generosity, kindness, talents, and plenty of spirit.  The period is during Napoleon when the French language was the rage in the whole of Europe and many talented writers abounded.  Germaine wore extravagant head turbans and constantly lauded her visitors with spiritual good words which acquired her many followers. Her female rivals called her “The talking machine”.

The French writer Benjamin Constant was once sitting between Mrs. de Stael and the super beauty Juliette Recamier and said “Here I am between the spirit and the beauty”.  Germaine replied with vivacity “This is the first time someone tells me that I am the beauty”. Of one of her former suitors, Mrs. de Stael said “Talking is not one of his languages”.

Benjamin Constant was 27 of age and divorced; he set his mind to meet Mrs. de Stael.  He wrote: “I rode with her in the carriage; I had supper with her, had breakfast, lunched and then dined with Mrs. de Stael. I think that I know her well and you are judging her too severely.”  A passionate love affair of 14 years began.

While staying at Mrs. De Stael, Benjamin faked a suicide act by taking a small overdose of opium. The neighbor prince of Montmorency realized this current customs among lovers of the period and said while leaving “Throw him out the window”. The critics said of that fashion “the Coppet dose” or any non lethal dose of medicines.

The relationship of Germaine and Benjamin was at best tenable but they could not separate for long. Benjamin writes: “I knew that Germaine affection is not exclusive.  She still could not help suffering at the idea of separating from her”

Julie Talma fell in love with Benjamin and wrote to him: “Write to me. You know that I should not be writing first.  I am dying for the need to reply to you.  Your letter will be certainly ridiculous and I am laughing in advance. I am not divulging my replies. I am waiting.”

A century later Proust would describe this kind of passion “I call this love reciprocal torture”.  This couple had many and varied extra-marital affairs and they both had offspring from other relationship but they managed to give birth to Albertine in 1796 who organized a famous banquet in Mai 28, 1817 while her mother Germaine was in death bed.  Benjamin was highly intelligent but of uncertain character in matters of stable tender love; he died in 1830.

From Palm Sunday to the Last Supper: what happened? (August 27, 2009)

Jesus enters Jerusalem on a Sunday morning; he had chased out the money changers and those doing “business as usual” by the Temple the day before.  Jesus is received as a popular Rabi leader and messiah; he is mounted on a donkey (jahesh) that Jesus had already rented for the day.

For six months, Jesus advanced toward Jerusalem for the yearly celebration. Thousands of pilgrims and followers were accompanying him.  Jesus was not a desk Rabi; not an urban Rabi.  Jesus was a walking Rabi followed by thousands of long marching disciples.

On Thursday evening and after the Last Supper, Jesus is made prisoner and convicted of fomenting disruption by the Jewish Sanhedrin in Jerusalem according to 3 of the 4 formal testaments retained in 325.

From Sunday till the Last Supper what happened?

This year celebration was not a run of the mill event: Jerusalem was swarmed by thousands of different brands of pilgrims and a walking Rabi entered preaching and speaking a new message.

A walking Rabi was lambasting the Pharisee and the other Jewish sects of the priesthood.  The Jewish Sanhedrin has been gathering intelligence on Jesus for over a year now and it has accumulated a thorough biography of Jesus and his messages.

More plausibly, the Roman governor Pilate and the King of Lower Galilee Herod Epiphany were tracking intensively Jesus progress toward Jerusalem: Both were very edgy of this non-violent movement:

1. Herod had decapitated John the Baptist, a very close relative of Jesus  who is being followed by masses from Galilee, putting a serious dent on Herod political credibility…

2. Pilate was at ease with the current Jewish leaders and could not understand how to deal with this new unorthodox leader.

The Sanhedrin knew that Jesus of Galilee was the “son of Marie“; it was convinced and the rumors aided a lot that Joseph was not the genetic father of Jesus, and Mathew poured oil on the fire by relating a not convincing story 60 years later.

I don’t care one way or another who was the real father of Jesus, but everyone else at that period did care and must have known, especially the Sanhedrin. The Jews named the eldest sons after the patriarch of the family.  The Sanhedrin knew that Jesus was a “gentile” who was circumcised by law during the century old Maccabees Kingdom, and that he followed the Jewish rituals. Jesus of Galilee was attached administratively and juridically to the city of Tyr in Lebanon.

The Sanhedrin was highly upset and frightened that this walking Rabi knew more on the Book and the history of the Jewish priesthood than the most learned among them.  And yet, not a historian, not a document, not an anecdote recounted what happened between Sunday and Thursday.

These four days are as blank as the period of Jesus between 12 and 30 years of age.

After Jesus was crucified, all the frightened apostles huddled in a remote house. From the testimony of the apostles, all that they retained from Jesus’ message was that there is another “coming” and pretty soon.

After news of Jesus resurrection reached the apostles, the second coming was confirmed to the apostles with a twist: the second coming will take place during their lifetime. If they die before the “coming” then they will be resurrected within 3 days to participate in the final event.  Thomas would not be railroaded one more time: he wants to touch Jesus and check the wounds.

Jesus has been teaching his message in parabolas, the best technique for verbal retention. These parabolas were in the Gnostic literature of the Land and the examples were extracted from the custom and tradition of the Land.

The apostles had nothing else to teach of the spiritual message of Jesus: they didn’t even comprehend the message.

The apostles retained what differed from the Jewish daily rituals and customs. Maybe Jesus was funny and told his stories in a funny way, but the testimonies of the apostles were not that funny.

Most probably the funny apostles with a sense of humor were not taken that seriously and their accounts forgotten, burned, and destroyed.

From Sunday to Thursday we know nothing of the activities and whereabouts of Jesus or his apostles.

Were the disciples scattered to disseminate the new message?

Was Jesus preaching and meeting with the masses?

Has Jesus discussed with a few priests in the Sanhedrin?

What is certain is that the Roman Pilates had no facts or accounts on Jesus activities that may substantiate fomenting any civil revolt.  The Sanhedrin was reduced to asking Jesus abstract and metaphysical questions “Are you the son of God?

The Sanhedrin would not be humiliated by convicting a “gentile” on Jewish religious grounds; it would not legally stick with the Romans who did not meddle in sect divergences.

The Sanhedrin would not bring troubles to its structure of interests by spreading an accusation that a popular movement was underway contesting its legitimacy.

The Sanhedrin was in a major predicament, but would not allow Jesus to freely resume his teaching: And Jesus was to die in Jerusalem before he gets out of their jurisdiction.

These events did not take place in pre-history.  The Land was highly civilized and cultured.

The elites spoke Greek, Roman, Aramaic, and Hebrew.

The Land had been disseminating all sorts of philosophical schools, sciences, and literature.

And yet, nothing to account from Sunday to Thursday!

Could you say that we have a biography of Jesus?  The Jews even created a biography for Noah! I love biographies and I am not at all satisfied with what I have gotten.

Thousands of Christian “heretics” who believed only in the human nature of Jesus were persecuted, imprisoned, and crucified for not abiding by Byzantium orthodox dogma.  Why did they have to defy a stupid orthodox dogma since there were no confirmed documents describing the entire life of Jesus?

Thousands of Christian “heretics” who believed only in the spiritual nature of Jesus were persecuted and executed for not following the orthodox dogma; why did they have to revolt against the orthodox dogma since even the apostles did not care or comprehend that much about Jesus spiritual message?

“They read from the same Book…They come to me for mediation; why?”

Note: I posted this essay on April 10, 2009 under the title “The Unpublished unifying Book” and decided to re-edit and abridge it.

 Historical Context

Before Moses there was no such religion as Jewish.  Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob worshiped El, the all-encompassing God of the Land from Mesopotamia, to Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine.  Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob paid the tithe to Melki Sadek, the highest grand priest and King of Jerusalem.  The mother of Melki Sadek had a revelation and her son Melki was dedicated to the temple; this story is repeated exactly through the ages such as with Hanna (mother of the Virgin Mary), Elizabeth (mother of John the Baptist), and to the Virgin Mary; they all dedicated their sons and daughters to the temples (nazeer, and thus nazarean). The title of Virgin given to Mary is an earned sacerdotal label to virgins who served the temple from age of 3 till marriage.

The Bible mentions many prophets who were dedicate to temples as revelations descended on their mothers.  It was common to the noble and sacerdotal families to dedicate sons or daughters to temples.  The rank of Melki Sadek was the highest and it was for life and he could transfer that rank to anyone of his choosing by anointment (mesheeh), thus Messiah.

The scribes of the Bible in Alexandria (in the second century before Christ) mentioned that Moses received a revelation and the Ten Commandments from Yahweh (Jehovah); thus (Yahood or Jews).  Again, it is the same repetition of revelations and the descent of written messages and commandments through the ages to the chosen prophets.  Moses’ commandments had to be given by a supreme being for ignorant nomads who constantly needed to rely on a supreme being to alleviate their fears; these commandments and hundreds more were already included in the civil codes of laws of the Land since before King Hamourabi of Babylon.  The relatively urban towns and cities in the Levant and Mesopotamia had more sophisticated abstract concepts that could sustain diversities in belief systems.

Invariably, religions would like the believers to understand that their Prophets were illiterate in order to prove that only God could have interceded with the prophet for the message.  These allegations are pure fabrications. Abraham was educated, Moses was highly educated and a grand priest and Muhammad aided his uncle parson Warkat bin Nawfal in translating into Arabic the Aramaic versions of the New Testament of Mathew and the Bible.  All the prophets had read in the Books of their times.  Jesus was highly educated and was a “nazeer” in the Great Temple of Mount Carmen since the age of six; but Jesus didn’t need translated versions of the Books because he was Aramaic and a messenger of the Land.

Translation of Books to another language was not done literally; the meaning was retained as honestly as desired but the context and style were compatible with the cultures and customs of the targeted people for better understanding and memorization.  That is why reading in Books was done by chanting (tarteel) so that musical intonation could support the retention process.

Jesus mission was to win over “the lost sheep among the tribes” in Judea, Benjamin, and the Hasmonides because they staunchly continued to worship Yahweh, their non-spiritual God for earthly dominion by the sword. Jesus wanted to unite all the tribes of Israel (Tribes of El) and not of Yahweh.

Around 325 AC the Byzantium Emperor Constantine proclaimed Christianity to be the religion of the empire. Patriarchs and Bishops from around the empire met in many conclaves to unify the dogma of the new religion.  At each conclave serious cleavages would separate the bishops and schisms were created and were labeled “heretics” for not abiding by the “Orthodox” Byzantium dogma of the conclave.  By the 5th century there were two major categories of Christian sects: those on the western side of the Euphrates River (part of Byzantium) and those on the eastern side (belonging to the Persian Empires).  The western sects believed in the Credo, the duality of Jesus, the Trinity, and the Virgin Mary. The eastern sects believed in the one physical nature of Jesus (either man or son of God) and would not consider Mary as virgin or to be honored.

It is the eastern Christian sects “the heretics” that ventured as far as China and erected churches and monasteries along the “Silk Road”; they also reached the Arabic Peninsula where three of these sects were highly respected and honored in Mecca. Only the Christian-Jews three main sects (Ebyonites, Cerinthe, and Elxai, see notes) were referred to as “Nassara” (those Christian nazeers who were dedicated to monasteries to pray, read the Books, and meditate) and they read in the Book of the only and unique God and followed the Jewish daily laws and customs.

The Koran of Mecca:

The purpose of the Prophet Muhammad was to gather common denominators for the belief systems among the main Christian and Jewish sects in the Arabic Peninsula: they all worshiped One God, the Creator of all things, and they believed in Heaven and Hell.  In that direction, the Prophet accepted the premise that the monotheist sects shared Abraham (who was neither Jewish nor Christian) as their first prophet who had the Orthodox “haneef” belief.

Muhammad acknowledged all the prophets that succeeded Abraham. Muhammad accepted in their integrality all the mythical stories in the Bible of the Creation, Noah, the Deluge, Joseph in Egypt and all the rest (these stories were indeed the myths of the Land for thousands of years before Abraham).  Muhammad was apprehensive that one of those diverse sects might think that he particularly biased toward one of Israel’s sects since they are all Moslems in God.  The prophet said “You are not believers until you value the Bible and the New Testament and what were descended on you. The Book descended on two previous religions but we were not aware of them” (because not written in Arabic)

Muhammad proclaimed Jesus as one of the latest and most spiritual prophet of all because he carried the Holy Ghost of Allah. Muhammad avoided the corny issues of the Trinity, the Virginity of Mary, the crucifixion and death of Jesus that divided the Christian sects. Muhammad venerated the Virgin Mary as the mother of the prophet who received revelations as well as John the Baptist.  In fact, Mary is the only female name mentioned in the Koran and Jesus (Issa) was mentioned as “Son of Mary”, thus “Issa ibn Mariam”.

In the Koran Muhammad proclaimed that the Christian-Jewish sects in Arabia were Moslems, years before he started his message: the teaching of the Koran was initiated because they relied on a unique God and didn’t admit that anyone else is part of him (shareek) such as Jesus or the Holy Ghost. The word Koran “Kuraan” has Aramaic roots “kuru” which means reading, reciting from a book.

During the Mecca period of proselytizing (about 13 years), what is known as the Koran of Mecca, there were Jewish sects and Muhammad never mentioned the Jews in these verses.  In fact, after Muhammad settled in Yathreb (Medina) the Christian Nassara sects would pay him visit from Mecca to mediate among them. The Prophet Muhammad was taken aback and said what amount to “They read in the Book that can answer all their questions and yet they come to me for mediation”

The Prophet did not face any obstacles from the Christian Nassara sects in Arabia simply because the Koran of Mecca was almost a carbon copy of the Books they read in: it was mainly an Arabic translation from Aramaic.

The problems with the Jews

The Jews in Yathreb and in Khibar revolted against the teaching of Islam who accepted Jesus as a prophet and got apprehensive of the growing power of Moslems in their midst.  The non-Moslem tribes of Mecca asked the Jews of Yathreb to cooperate with them and the Jewish leaders descended to Mecca to plot against the Moslems. Armed struggles decided the difficulties to the advantage of the Moslems.  The Prophet considered the Jewish sects as tyrannical and not behaving with charity toward the orthodox religions, complicating the belief system, and blasphemed the Virgin Mary and Jesus.  “God created man weak and He wants to make it easy on him and not complicate his life. We have sent a prophet to every nation” so that nations can read the message of the One God in their own language.

All the sects in Arabia were united around one religion that was made easy (khefat) and economical “moktassadat” to be comprehend by nomads and desert people who lacked knowledge of abstract theological concepts and it was easy to memorize by short rimed sentences and disseminated by chants.  Thus, Muhammad warned the Christian sects (such as the Jacobites, Nestourians, and Melkites) who believed in the divinity of Jesus, of the son of God, the trinity, and the resurrection to desist in their exaggerations and overestimation in religious beliefs (ghelou fi al deen) and accept the simple fact of One God as a unifying reality that unite the tribes of the believers in One God.

The genesis of Islam

In Mecca, Khadija, the first wife of Muhammad, and the parson Warkat bin Nawfal, the patriarch of the Christian-Jew sect of the Epyionites, transcribed Muhammad’s revelations and verses during his epileptic fits.  In Medina, Aicha bint Abu Bakr, the educated and most beloved wife of the Prophet, was almost exclusively in charge of recording the revelations when the Prophet Mohammad had his bouts of seizures. She would cover him with warm blankets and write down the verses until he falls asleep.  Aicha has dedicated her life into gathering, organizing the revelations and meeting with scholars and close friends of the Prophet to keep a complete record. Aicha saved her copies very jealously until the third Caliphate Othman bin Affan ordered the archive to be handed over to him. Aicha didn’t trust Othman and she kept copies of all her documents.  At the time, only rich people could afford to write down documents because they were recorded on special leather in the Arabic Peninsula. Thus, rich educated people had the task of transcribing the verses for better retention, memorization, and an act of devotion.

By the time Othman decided to issue an official Book for Islam (The Koran of Medina) most of the Byzantium and Persian Empires were conquered; Egypt was part of the Arab Moslem Empire. The formal or official Book had to take these political realities into accounts, realities of victors and vanquished.  The Caliphate Othman sorted out the verses and selected what suited the political interest of the new Islamic Empire; many verses were burned and disappeared, others were tampered with such as adding “nassara” (Christian) after Jews though the sentence would break the rhyme (sajaa).

Othman arranged verses by order of length, the longest verses first, and the gathered book was considered the official Koran. For example, the shortest revelations or verses are the first chronologically and represent the message of Islam in the first 13 years or the Koran of Mecca before the relocation to Medina or Yathreb in 633.  The longest verses dealt mostly with civil management, daily routine, penal codes, and organization of the converts to Islam.

It is my contention that Aicha bint Abu Bakr had hidden and distributed copies of her complete archive.  If there is the will there is a way to reconstitute the message of the Prophet Muhammad in its historical and chronological contexts taking into account the fundamental principle of working on the common denominators in the belief system among the majority of the monotheist religions; and hopefully discovering a copy of the original archive as the work is in progress.

The Prophet Muhammad was crystal clear in his message: making the religion easy, light, acceptable to most sects, and readable by the language of every nation.  It is about time we focus on the value of life and let the abstract limiting and restrictive theological concepts (ideology) to the few power monger sacerdotal castes.

Note 1: The Epyonite Christian-Jew sect was discussed and commented on by the early Christian scholars and Bishops like Irene, Epiphane, and Origene.  The name Epionites refers to the “poor” in Aramaic such as “Blessed be the poor”; this sect considered Jesus one of the great prophets. Jesus was not God or Son of God who received the revelations after John baptized him and thus, the messiah spirit entered him till he was crucified.  Jesus message was teaching and preaching the revelation but didn’t include saving or forgiving our sins. The Aramaic Testament of Mathew is their only book in addition to the Bible; this New Testament of Mathew used by the Epionites was revised slanted and distorted according to Epiphanous. This sect persevered on frequent washing for purification, not eating meat, and to focus on aiding and feeding the needy, widowers, and people of passage.  After the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem, many of the priests in Komran immigrated to Hijaz in the Arab peninsula.

Note 2:  The Christian-Jew Cerinthe sect proclaimed that Heaven resembled life on earth where the body will get its fill of every passion it needed to satisfy; that the role of Jesus was to free his people from the Romans; that Jesus message was political and social.

Note 3:  The Christian-Jew sect Elxai was Gnostic (knowledge).  It preached that Jesus is another human and the Messiah in him vacated his body before martyrdom.  The Holy Ghost is the mother of Jesus and the Angel Gabriel depending on events. Jesus received the Bible from the angel and Gabriel taught Jesus wisdom and the ability to foreseeing the future.

Love Passion Stories: Juliette & Rene; (August 25, 2009)

The French Juliette Recamier, during the period of Napoleon, was one of the most beautiful of the ladies to sit for painters.  Juliette barely talked: she was the mute goddess , but she was highly literate and a famous actress that posed for many painters.  The beauty of Juliette reached the confines of Siberia where natives had her picture painted on glass.

Princes, bankers, generals, poets, and famous authors were after the favors of Mrs. Recamier.  She never repulsed anyone, but never welcomed anyone at her residence. She was the sultana of “one thousand and one mornings”. The sharp critics Saint-Beuve wrote: “Mrs. Recamier wants everything to stop in April”.

There were many rumors on her physical sexual impotence for her lack of varied encounters; the author Merimee used to raise his arms and say “it is a case of force major”.  Deeper analysis is showing that Mrs. Recamier suffered from a major psychological handicap: Juliette believed that she married her own father at the age of 15, the boyfriend of her mother. Her first husband may or may not be her genetic father, but what people believe is what counts in practical life.

The French giant writer Rene de Chateaubriand fell passionately in love countless of times; he even traveled to the Near East and Palestine as an excuse to land in Spain where he was to meet another one of his conquest.  Rene was visiting Venice for the second time; he was 65 of age and he wrote a name on the sand.  Rene said “What am I doing around the steppe of the Adriatic? Follies of age closer to the cradle: I wrote a name close to the dying waves; the waves kept eating up the name ,one character at a time, to the sixteenth character; I felt that they were erasing my life.”  The name was Juliette Recamier.

Juliette was madly in love with the literary genius of Rene de Chateaubriand and wrote to him: “It no longer depends on me, or of you, or of anyone to prevent me of loving you; my love, my life, my heart, everything is yours”

Chateaubriand replied “I have but one feeling and but one joy: finish my life by you…There will be a great charm going protected by your looks, your words, and your attachment. And then God, the sky, and you beyond life…” Rene died in the arms of Juliette who was already blind.  Juliette survived Rene a few months.

Intelligent women of the 18th century described seduction processes grandly.  Mrs. de Stael said of one of her male suitors “Talking is not one of his languages”.  Julia Talma said to her boyfriend Benjamin Constant “If only you could give the impression of existing”

He writes; why? (August 27, 2009)

Consider the alternative reasons offered by authors for writing and then publishing.

“I write to compensate lack of satisfaction; this huge gap between my dreams and my reality.  I compensate my shortcomings by exhibiting my knowledge and the better image I have of my character.”

“I write because there is a blind spot in my fictional novel and I keep turning around that inaccessible spot.  I often come close to this blind spot and thus I have to keep writing follow up novels with that original blind spot in my mind.”

“I write because I am ashamed.  I am ashamed of my character, my behavior, an event, moments of utter feelings of failures and depressions. All writings are based on what we cannot confess or testify about.  The third person in novels encourages this urge for trying to divulge the blemish we kept inside us.”

“I write because I had so much pleasure reading books that I felt the need to pay back my dues”

“I write because I need to impose my name grandly.”  There is this anecdote; James Joyce (the author of Ulysses and Finnegan’s Wake) was penniless at 18 of age and he wanted to see a theater at Dublin; the lanky and skinny James faced the usher saying “I am James Joyce”.  The usher let him in for free.

“I write because I have no other talents and I love to read literature”

“I write because I could not discover any serious purpose for my life; writing might open up my resources for imagination”

“I write because I have no compulsions for changing the world, taking to the streets, or marching in demonstrations, or going into politics”

“I write novels not because people like to read stories but because I like to read my stories.”

“I write for the pleasure of giving pleasure to my readers. Otherwise, there are no readers available to read or authors to publish.”

“I keep writing because there are always expensive emergencies such as repairing the roof; buying a newer car, extending expensive gifts for entertaining clients, publishers, and other writer friends.”

“I keep writing because I am addicted to seeing my photos and name exhibited all around the place and in the media.”

Garbo or Dietrich? (August 26, 2009)

The French author Jean d’Ormesson who writes for the daily Le Figaro tells this anecdote.  Jean was having lunch for the first time with Greta Garbo.  He kept humming the song of a movie “Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuss auf Liebe eingestellt”.  Garbo had no reaction. Jean sang the entire song.  No reactions from Greta.  Jean finally said “I had admired so much in Bleu Angel”.  Greta Garbo destroyed Jean with a look and also finally said “You are confusing me with Marlene Dietrich”

A couple of years later, Jean were having lunch with Marlene for the first time. Marlene liked Jean and invited him for tea next Tuesday afternoon.  Jean was in ecstasy and went on accumulating his cuteness by telling Marlene his adventure with Garbo. Marlene Dietrich coolly looked at Jean and told him: “My invitation for tea at avenue Montaigne… consider it canceled”

It appears that depressed people prefer to watch movies; the more the better, the more stupid the lovelier.  Only people in excellent mood read books; no wonder why people don’t read as frequently anymore as before television.  Pictures have soothing effects on depressed people, especially when the dialogue is pretty simple, the sceneries gorgeous, and the topic easy to comprehend.

No wonder why people likes old smooth movies such as “The countess in naked feet” by Ava Gardner, “The snow of Kilimanjaro”, “Pandora”,  “The shop around the corner” of Lubitsch; “The Big Sleep” of Howard Hawks; “The train will whistle trice” or “A man for eternity” of Zinneman; “Casablanca” of Michael Curtiz; the “Cheetah” played by Claudia Cardinal, Alain Delon, and Burt Lancaster and realized by Lampedusa and Visconti.

The sacs of Rome, printing, Reform, and Renaissance; (August 24, 2009)

The writer and polemist The Aretin was a feared guy by Emperors and Kings; they were cowed into the defensive until their promises are obliged and delivered.

Aretin lived in Rome before 1525 and then moved to Venice to become a famous and respected personality.  It happened that the illustrious painter Titian visited Rome in 1545 and was awed by what he discovered.  Titian wrote to The Aretin describing his enchantment of Rome. The Aretin replied: “You are regretting that you didn’t visit Rome 20 years earlier. If you are awed by what you are seeing now then what you would have done observing Rome when I left it?”

This answer is truer nowadays than even 50 years ago.

Now you would say “If you had seen the Cote d’Azur, the Riviera, Peking, or Rio de Janeiro 50 years ago!”

No, this is not nostalgia matter. Rome was indeed ransacked in 1527 by the French at the order of Emperor Charles Quint. The invading troops looted almost everything for months during Pope Clement 7 who loved art and encouraged artists and learned people to settle in Rome.

Consequent to that ransacking most artists and learned spirit immigrated to various regions in Europe.  The new printing discovery played as a catalyst for the Luther reformists and the dispersed artists and spread Renaissance in Europe.

Rome was ransacked several times by the Christian “heretics” coming from France, Germany, and central Europe.

Christian heretic sects evolved since 325 after the Nicee conclave and the following conclaves as Emperor Constantine decided to unite the divergent dogmas into an Imperial orthodox dogma.  The heretics in the Orient fled Byzantium Empire to Persia, the Arab Peninsula, and reached China with their brands of Christianity.

Wars that invade key and civilized rich cities instead of subjugating entire countries and people had beneficial results to disseminating civilizations.

“My Name is Bev and I want to Speak” May 10, 2009)

“My Master Adams Mashedbones seems a rather nice boy.  He has been treating me kindly; he feeds regularly and I offer him my milk regularly; kind of fair deal.  The problem is that Adams thinks that because I cannot read or write that I am stupid. I admit that I look stupid but he should have no interest in pushing his nonchalance too far.  Adams forgets that I can hear and see and obviously has no clue that I can read body language, gestures, and lips when Adams inadvertently turns his face towards me; he has no idea that I can sense his gimmicks from the tone of his voice when chatting with buddy Rufus Lightbeer. I suspect that Adams can read and maybe write but this knowledge is of no use to him.  I know that all his information is hearsay and of the more recent mania of the audio-visual intelligence kind of knowledge.

My mother Sweety heard her mother Dolly complains a few years ago that what Adams fed her was not suiting her digestive system; Dolly went on exaggerating a bit or mother may have added spices to her droll of story.  Dolly was to have said that many of her companions suffered horrible aches and pains and died in crazy conditions.  Dolly was chatty and spread the news that her kinds have been slaughtered for free and the carcasses incinerated and that Adams didn’t care that much about their painful conditions since he was financially rewarded for his greed before the disease and after the disease by a capitalist system, more likely a particular republican capitalist system that Thatcher was a staunch supporter in Britain and exacerbated the epidemics among my cow kind.

I have real compassion for the pork these days.  I can associate with their worries and tangible calamities that await them.  Adam’s kinds infected the pork with a nasty flu and now the pork is blamed for the new disease.  In this internet age, information is reaching me that in Egypt all pork is being massacred.  Pork over there is not viewed with esteem.  The Koran as well as the Jews prohibits eating pork as source of evil.  Pork in Moslem countries was supposed to be lucky for that prohibition but trade with the greedy “infidels” did not salvage them.  I hate to be ironic but at least pork raised in Moslem countries will no longer be eaten by “infidels” like Adams Mashedbones.  Oh, how I wished to have been born in India; this cursed internet crushed my dreams and enlightened me: India is exporting cow meat to the “infidels”.  So, I might enjoy the better conditions here as long as it last.

I overheard that William is on a war collision course against meat eating specimen.  William is so tight assed in vegetarian habits that he would not even eat milk based product, fish, or any product smelling of animal substance.  If William drinks my milk then he will realize that I too don’t eat onion or ail.  I respect his choice of life style since he can meditate as well as I do but not as long as I do.

Oh, how I wished that the Phoenician of Byblos invented alphabets that can be scribbled by cows.  I would have told Adams a piece of my mind.”
