I was denied connection access for a week: And I survived…

I had no access to internet connection for a week: My subscribers must have noticed that the flooding of posts has subsided, with great relief…

All that I needed every day, in time of dire connection failure, is less than 5 minutes, just to slightly edit one of my three scores of draft posts, add a few tags and press “publish”. I managed that feat twice last week, just that I won’t be classified as Adonis 49 has passed away…

I was reduced to reading and taking notes with paper and pencil, along with increasing my load of house maintenance chores…I survived nicely after I got used to not being connected…Obviously, the hope that I will be able to reconnect was there, otherwise…

I was denied access to internet because:

1. The assistant at the library was too “busy” to let me connect for 5 minutes, just to press this lousy button of “publish”…

2. The connection was disabled 10 days before the end of the month: One of my nephews downloaded many gigabites…

3. Another nephew was also too “busy” to open his door for me to access his internet…

4. I was not feeling comfortable visiting connected people for asking them to get connected…

5. The server provider had technical problems…the general director to the ministry of communication is also general director to a private communication company (Augero)and obeys the orders of the private enterprise…

6. The cable originating in Marseilles (France) and linking with Alexandria (Egypt) is broken

7. The cable linking from Cyprus is acting up…These kinds of things that usually start revolutions but are common occurrences in Lebanon

One of these reasons or the combination of them all comploted to deny me access to the world wide web: I was denied to chat, communicate serious and vile messages, read redundant pieces of intelligence and news, and most importantly maintain my blog…

And I survived. And I had the time to finish reading many overdue books. And to restart writing articles using pen and paper…Mind you that I refuse to using UBS again since it runs havoc to every computer I insert it in…

I survived: the trend to reaching the mark of 2,900 posts published this week can wait a couple of days.

I survived: the trend of breaking the 140,000 total hits this week can wait three more days…

This event coincided with mother getting seriously burned (third degree) opening a “presto” (pressure cooker), and I had the time to taking care of her (going to hospitals…) and doing the laundry, and doing the dishes, and preparing food for dad, and setting the table, and…

Still, a pretty busy week, in this long dry season with long daylight, and dad waking me up at 6 am by starting the motor to pump water four floors up, and the workers in the next door villa, which is  growing in size every month for the last three years, starting at 7 am their loud building tools and equipment…

Note: Mother had a special love affair with this pressure cooker (French made): She bought it 5 decades ago in Africa (Mali) and brought it to Lebanon. After the third burn degree, mother cannot stand looking at that presto: Object are neutral to mankind passions and reactions…
