27 Funny Posters And Charts That Graphic Designers Will Relate To

We at DS come across a lot of memes, comics and artworks that offer a hilarious look into the life and mind of a graphic designer.

We thought, why not collate a few good ones into one cool post?

Who knows, it might even drive some sense into an unreasonable client and make him/her change his/her attitude? Wishful thinking, we guess.

If we had to pick three, it would be tough, but no. 6, 7 and 11 would be our favourites. What about you? Share this post with a fellow designer and voice your views in the comments below.

Car-free cities: Done and planned

Urban planners are finally recognizing that streets should be designed for people, not careening hunks of deadly metal

Madrid has already banned most traffic from certain city streets, and this month, the car-free zone will expand even more.

By 2020, the mayor of Paris plans to double the number of bike lanes in the city, ban diesel cars, and limit certain high-traffic streets to electric cars and other ultra-low-emission vehicles.

A new satellite city planned in Chengdu, China could serve as a model for a modern suburb: Instead of a layout that makes it necessary to drive, the streets are designed so any location can be reached by 15 minutes on foot.

Though Hamburg isn’t planning to ban cars from its city center (as has been misreported elsewhere), the city is making it easier and easier not to drive with a new green network.

Helsinki expects a flood of new residents over the next few decades, but the more people come, the fewer cars will be allowed on city streets.

The smoggy city of Milan is testing a new way to keep cars out of the city center: If commuters leave their vehicles at home, they’ll get free public transit vouchers.

Copenhagen started introducing pedestrian zones in the 1960s in the city center, and car-free zones slowly spread over the next few decades.

12,000 Turks joined extremist, terrorist groups in Syria, think tank says

Press TV – A Turkish think tank has said that 12,000 Turks have joined extremist and terrorist groups such as ISIL and the al-Nusra Front in Syria.

TURKISH Ismail Hakki Pekin, a veteran serviceman and a researcher with the Ankara-based 21st Century Turkey Institute, who has prepared the report, says Turkey has turned into the main base for armed extremist groups.

He said Turkey is the passageway for thousands of armed forces into Syria and the ruling Turkish Justice and Development Party directly provides military and logistical support for ISIL and other armed groups.

Atilla Kart, a member of Turkey’s Republican People’s Party, has said 3,000 people have joined ISIL from the southern Turkey city of Konya, while the Turkish government knows and ignores this.

Speaking to the Turkish paper, Sözcü, the lawmaker said ISIL uses its office in the city to recruit armed people.

Turkey has time and time again been accused of backing the ISIL terrorists in Syria.

ISIL controls parts of Iraq and Syria.

The terrorists are engaged in crimes against humanity in the areas under their control. They have terrorized and killed people of all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.

Note: In the last 2 decades, Turkey planned to reconquer its past empire in the Middle East, and now it is showing its ugly face, against all odds.
