Passing a law on domestic violence: Putting Lebanese women at further risk?

The Lebanese Parliament Passed a Law that Put Women at Further Risk

Manal, Roula, Aminah, Latifah, Sonia, Christelle, Marguerite, and all the women who died of domestic violence will not rest in peace: Today the Lebanese Parliament passed a law, a joke that now legalizes marital rape.

No women will leave or face her husband while her children remain at risk…

No women will dare to speak up knowing that if she protects herself, her children will be the next boxing bag.

A law passed, it is for sure not the law we’ve been fighting for!

All those thousands of people who marched weeks ago where not apparently enough to move our parliament, all those women who died, and those children who were/are bruised for life apparently are not enough reason for a fair law.

To hell with this country, to hell with every politician… all the blood of innocent women and children are on your hands!

KAFA, is calling for a public protest at 5pm in Riadh El Solh square… be many.

How your “English” sounds?

First need to differentiate between American and English.

Then differentiate among Scottish, Irish, Whales, Australian, Canadian, Indians…

What do you sound like to a foreigner?

Girl Speaks Gibberish With Perfect Accents To Show What Languages Sound Like To Foreigners

Girl Perfectly Demonstrates What Languages Sound Like To Foreigners

19-year-old Finnish YouTube user Sara is here to unveil the mystery. Although she is speaking total gibberish, her spot-on accents give us a clue as to how you might sound to someone who doesn’t speak your language.

To hear UK and American English accents skip to 0:50 and 1:12.

But trust us, this whole video is worth watching. Since being uploaded on Monday, it has racked up over 2 millions views.

We hope this girl plays musical instruments, because she clearly has a VERY good ear.

In Benjamin Lowy blog:

This blog is part of a project borne during my travels as a professional photojournalist.

For years, I have worked with bulky digital cameras, always mindful of the technical maneuvers from setting the shutter speed and aperture to editing and toning on a computer screen.

In the last few years I have discovered that my iPhone has allowed me to capture scenes without feeling that I am once again on the job.

To “point and shoot” has been a liberating experience. It has allowed me to rediscover the excitement of seeing imperfections and happy accidents rendered through the lens of my handheld device.

I am able to create imagery, edit, and transmit all the images straight to this blog, creating a modern and efficient workflow for the most inefficient of pursuits – self expression.

I don’t want children — stop telling me I’ll change my mind

One in 5 women in the United States will not have a biological child, and Christen Reighter is one of them.

From a young age, she knew she didn’t want kids, in spite of the insistence of many people (including her doctor) who told her she’d change her mind.

In this talk, she shares her story of seeking sterilization — and makes the case that motherhood is an extension of womanhood, not the definition.

This talk was presented to a local audience at TEDxMileHighWomen, an independent event. TED editors featured it among our selections on the home page.

Christen Reighter · Poet, essayist. She writes and performs as a poet and essayist, focusing primarily on social justice issues.

After 70 years of its institution, the UN has learned to be vocal on ethnic cleansing (Rohingyas refugees).  Israel did the same cleansing of Palestinians when created in 1948, and with higher numbers, and UN still refrain to call it “Ethnic Cleansing”
So far, 500,000 Rohingyas refugees in Bangladesh. Finally, UN mastered the courage to voice “Ethnic Cleansing”. Google failed to register Rohingya in her spell-checking, though this problem has been in the news for years.

He resuscitated from the dead. He was lucky: he had donated all his organs, but the system at ministry of health was faulty for 2 days

The physician signed the certificate of death. The hospital morgue signed the certificate of  staying overnight in the cold chamber. Can the testimony of hundred of souls that the resuscitate person is “probably” the same person? That they are unsure that this occurrence can happen, even if they saw him crawling out of the box in the salon?

I’m pretty convinced that many people resuscitated from the dead in history. That Not many accounted for these events or left any written story, does that mean that rare events cannot take place, those rarest end tails in probability?

“Dare to refuse the origin myths that claim who you are”. I’m puzzled to have pride in your national or ethnic identity, pride in the ACCIDENT of birth from a warm and cozy womb, belief in your superiority because of the ACCIDENT of birth.”- Chetan Bhatt from his TEDxExeter talk

Do we really need identity myths to feel safe? Because I see religious, national, ethnic disputes as adding to human misery.
