President Michel Suleiman visited Jordan for two days and he made a detour to pray on the supposed location where Jean the Baptist stayed to baptize the Jews by the Jordan River.
Before President Suleiman, the other Michel, Current General and President Aoun visited Syria and followed the trails of St. Paul and other Christian Saints.
You might think that there is a new religious Christian fervor in the Middle East; it is simply a highly political message to the USA and Europe: the Christians in the Middle East (Orthodox, Catholic, and an entire gamut of original sects) were the bedrock of Christianity, the first Christian communities that were established in this region.
And all the initial Christian sects originated from here. The Christians in the Middle East were the backbone of civilizations during the Roman, Byzantine and Arab Empires.
These religious tours on the trails of the prophets and ancient churches are highly political and expressing the survival state of the Christians in this region because the western States have given the racist and apartheid State of Israel the green light to relocate the Middle East Christians people.
Israel wants to be the unique State religion, different from the Christians, in this Muslim region to draw constant sympathy and support.
Israel also has taken advantage of the invasion of Iraq to assassinate thousands of most Iraqi scientists and professors (the names and profession of the assassinated Iraqi scientist are listed in the internet).
The Lebanese Parliament has been in session for 3 days and over 44 deputies are listed to talk extensively.
The purpose is to lambaste the deficiencies of a government that is Not even a government: this government objective is to prepare for a fair and just election in May.
That is beside the point: the deputies consider this platform as sort of free and official election campaigns.
We have a government of 30 ministers where 20 of them have No offices and do nothing but to vote during the council.
It does not matter what the council of ministers votes on, it is Seniora PM, the dictator for the moment, and he can bypass any resolution and let the opposition parties and organization talk and demonstrate, “3ala ejro”.
Seniora PM and the so-called March 14 alliance are relying heavily on the oligarchic Saudi Kingdom to finance their re-election campaigns with the political support of the dictator Mubarak of Egypt who does not care if the Palestinians in Gaza die of famine.
The minister of defense, Elias Murr, visited Russia and signed an agreement to have 10 used fighter jets MIG 29 delivered to Lebanon. This deal is pretty symbolic, just a recognition of the neighboring States for the independence and self-autonomy of Lebanon because the USA is politically unable to deliver fighter jets to Lebanon. (As if Lebanon budget can afford to maintain a single jet fighter)
This air fleet should be compatible to the Syrian air force for purposes of training and maintenance.
We are still in the dark of who will be paying for the heavy expenses of flying and maintaining symbolic materials.
I read today that another political movement is being created and called “National and Social Renaissance Movement”; a splinter of the “Syria National Social Party”. The name Syria has been dropped and the purpose of this movement is to focus on the doctrines of the original leader late Antun Saadi and to institute study groups for reforms. The fact of insisting on the totality of doctrines that are 70 years old is not compatible to renaissance in my dictionary.
In a previous article, I gave samples of our brand of political self-criticisms. I will mention just a few of these lovely and magnificent mea culpas:
“I embezzled the government. I ransomed the people. I slaughtered citizens on confessional basis. I jailed citizens in deep wells for years. I am not apologizing. I am just stating facts that all the other leaders also committed”. Feudal and sectarian leader Walid Jumblatt
“I admit that I made errors and mistakes but it was all for the good cause” (Militia leader Samir Ja3ja). This leader didn’t see it appropriate to give samples of his atrocities such as assassinating prime ministers, clerics, and shooting army officers after their surrender. All these atrocities were for the “good cause”.
“I committed the worst atrocities to thousands of citizens but those who assassinated my father did the unforgivable. My country Lebanon can go to hell but I insist on my revenge.”
“I admit to errors and mistakes and would do them again under the same conditions”
Hameed was seriously considering returning home to Lebanon: He just learned that his mother Zahia had passed away
Actually, the reason Hameed travelled to New York just after WWI was to convince his elder brother Wehbeh to return home because his mother was heart broken: Her favorite eldest son has left her over 10 years ago and never showed sign of coming back for a visit.
News in the early 1920’s reached the toiling people overseas many weeks later.
An employee in Wehbeh restaurant in New York informed Hameed that a lady outside wants to meet with him. The worker said: “She is a lady”
On seeing the lady, Hameed felt a confusing impression of having met this woman when he was pretty young.
The lady greeted Hameed in English “Good morning” and resumed in a Lebanese Arabic slang: “Saida, Saida Mr. Hameed. Where is Mr. Wehbeh?
Hameed memory rewinded to over a decade ago, a scene of his father holding a whip, ready for action, and his brother Wehbeh raising a chair. The father spitting and shouting”Adabsis” (A turkish work meaning evil, naughty…)
Hameed recalls crossing the narrow streets in the city of Tyr (in south Lebanon) in the Manara block, and a young girl walking the opposite side of the street. The girl looked briefly at Hameed. And here he is hearing the lady saying: “Tell Mr. Wehbet that Bahia has finally landed”
The story of Wehbeh Ne3meh and Bahia, the daughter of Simon the Copt, took place a few years before WWI. Wehbeh never witnessed the horror of this war or the famine that harvested a quarter of Lebanon’s population, and the onslaught of the locusts…
Wehbeh was a Muslim Shi3a and Bahia was a Christian Orthodox.
They fell in love as Wehbeh was accompanying his Christian fisherman friend Hanna (John) to the church on a Sunday. Bahia dressed and walked differently from the girls Wehbeh saw in the city.
Since there was no chance for their families to agree on their wedding, this potential couple decided to elope and try to manage later a reconciliation between the families.
Wehbeh was to rent a room in the next city of Saida and wait for Hanna to bring Bahia by sea.
Wehbeh waited for three days and nights by the seashore, at the port, barely sleeping for fear of missing the encounter. He finally gave up and surreptitiously returned to Tyr by night in order Not to meet any person and find out what was the problem.
Bahia was to be engaged to Iskandar, a old 55 year-old Christian man, and Wehbeh was apprehensive that the secret meeting was discovered and Bahia was hurriedly made to marry a man she didn’t care to live with.
Bahia stayed at her aunt. Bahia was to prepare a bag of her belonging, drop it at Hanna’s house, and join Hanna by nightfall to be whisked away on his small fisherman boat.
At the last day, Hanna had a terrible bout of bad conscience, sort of committing an unforgivable sin: He will be blamed for a mix marriage, considered an enemy to his religious sect, and banned from the city…
Hanna met with the priest and confessed. They both knelt and prayed for hours. The evil Shaitan (demon) was defeated. Only the priest and the aunt knew about the scheme: It was not proper to spread the news…
Wehbeh decided to leave Lebanon and ended up in New York.
These thwarted love stories based on religious differences were common before, and current even today, and will last for another century.
Note: This story is taken from “Memoirs of a Shia Woman” by Raja2 Ne3meh (Rajaa Nemeh). Hameed will become the father of Rajaa
Testimonials of a civil war: A Communist party member
The issue of daily Al Balad, April 26, 2005
Samir Al Ocda was barely 12 years old when the civil war started. His father was a dedicated Communist party member and hided a Kalashnikov in his house located in Ras Nabaa.
Samir’s father was strict in never allowing any one in the family to touch the Kalashnikov, or missing a school day for demonstrating, or to hanging out in centers where political meetings were taking place.
Once, as Samir was 10 years old, his father and a few of his comrades parked the jeep in the neighborhood. His father lifted the kid Samir and placed him behind the Doshka machine gun mounted on the jeep. That was the first great impression for power and glory.
Samir political awareness began in 1980 when he was in middle school: He read the daily newspaper “Al Watan” (the Nation) distributed at the school door. He badly desired to wear the green vest called “field” that was donned by the communist fighters.
When the bombing intensified, he stood at the school door and harangued the students not to enter and instead to join the demonstrations. The school principal remonstrated them and they replied by throwing rocks at him.
In Ras Nabaa stood a house called “Nadi Ruwad” (the patrons club) which hosted Russian delegates and various sports activities. In this house, Samir got indoctrinated and started reading ideological books and participating in discussions.
In 1981, Samir was already 15 years old and joined a training camp for the Communist in Kfar Matta under the direction of a comrade called “Stalin”. He had told his family that he was going out on a scout camp.
The taller the comrade the closer to the front row was the regulation and thus, short Samir was always standing in the back wearing oversized Cuban military garments.
Abu Anis, the war code name for the head of the Communist Party George Hawi, sent immediately these fresh graduating recruits to manning the barricades in St. Theresa, in the Dahia neighborhood in order to face-off the offensives of the “Amal” militias also called the disinherited Shiaas.(Nabih Berri, chief of the Parliament for 25 years, claims that he is the leader of this militia)
Samir was restless from then on and barely visited his family.
In 1982, Israel invaded Lebanon and entered Beirut.
Samir helped his comrades recover the military vehicles and hardware buried in the “Sport City” compound and distributed the vehicles to various corners in West Beirut, and mainly around the “Cola” neighborhood.
By dawn, the inhabitants got the fright seeing that amount of military vehicles and chars and started vacating to more peaceful areas in coincidence with the admonishments of the Israeli flyers for the people to empty the surroundings and so Samir’s folks did too.
Samir collected 250 house keys that the tenants left with him for safe keep.
While guarding barricades, Samir used to finger his guitar and a photo was published of him with the legend stating “The break time of a fighter at “Mat7af” (National Museum area)”, followed by the slogans “Down with guns; Long life to guitars!”
His last battle was at “Mat7af” where he faced the Israeli soldiers and managed to earn the scare of his life before successfully retreating.
Samir still believes that he fought for a just cause, but the circumstances and new facts are leaving him to wonder whether this civil war was worth the damage and death.
Since the Taif agreement in 1990, which stopped the war, but left no victors, and the parliament proclaiming that “All has been forgiven and all involved have been pardoned”, Samir has experienced deep depression periods and witnessed a half-peace and lack of opportunities to earn a living.
(These militia/mafia “leaders’ are still in control of Lebanon in the last 3 decades and bankrupted the State at all levels)
An eye witness confessed to see a bunch of kids playing soccer on a sandy field to discover that the ball was indeed a human skull.
Rami, now 33 years old, used to gather insects in bundles and burn them just to hear the crackling sounds in the fire.
If you fail to develop your perception that guides you to ask pertinent questions, all the knowledge will Not shield you from being suckered into obeying subtle orders that lead to dangerous deeds. This called “Agency status”: Obeying a small order without much inquiry because the order doesn’t feel harmful. Successive such agency status devolve into a “No return” condition for committed horrors.
The puppet master develop lists of short orders (agency status) to be distributed to recruited agents for activating his grand plan
Being cognizant of the bad deeds we are about to commit, but lacking the necessary imagination of what despair and pains are being inflicted, is Never an excuse Not to be punished as war criminal
“Who are the terrorists?” 308 actions were conducted by Zionists terror organizations (Palmach, Irgun and Stern) against civilian Palestinians before the recognition of the colonial implant of State of Israel in 1948
For 6 months now, Turkey claims it entered the Syrian village of Al Baab. Turkey is totally confused where this Baab is located
Two critical weeks for Lebanon: Either a purely proportional election law, or a Referendum on the popularity of the civil war Warlords

Aicha, the most beloved wife of prophet Muhammad, is the most prominent leader, scholar and imam that Islam experienced.
Aicha valiantly and stubbornly, secured the rights of women against all biases and falsehoods in the hadith. Muhammad, and the two first caliphs Abu Bakr and Omar, were buried under her bed.

Very funny. Many governments and public health systems around the world have failed at communicating critical Covid-19 information because Centers for Disease Control and Prevention assumed an 11th grade reading level Not at 8th grade as is the case. The Netherlands made its information the simplest to understand, at just below an 8th grade level.

Covid-19: Faked information and simple avoidance and treatment recommendations
Covid-19 is Not a cell but a series of RNA that cannot survive outside a living environment. Thus, dead people cannot test positive for Covid-19 in order to test the family members.
Avoid taking Cortisone, Cetamol, Azitromycine… any products (sugar, proteine…) that disturb the natural function of the liver or tax its proper job of increasing the temperature and strengthen the immune system.

Israeli can enter Jordan but denied Jordanians to enter Israel?
The Israelis would Not spend a dime in touring Jordan and would hide artifacts in touristic region to prove later that the Jews had a civilization in that land.
Actually, after 100 years of archeological works, Israel could Not stumble on any proof of their existence in Palestine as a people.

Gold’s Gym has become synonymous with the Hollywood Dream.
Set just a few hundred yards from the ocean in sun-kissed Venice Beach, Los Angeles, Gold’s was the backdrop for Pumping Iron, the 1977 documentary which followed a young, unknown Austrian bodybuilder called Arnold Schwarzenegger as he prepared for the Mr Universe contest.
The film turned him into an overnight sensation.
He would go on to become a global superstar, marry a member of the Kennedy clan, and become Governor of California
A makeshift tent city made up of flapping tarpaulins and cardboard boxes surrounds the gym on all sides.
Junkies and the homeless, many of whom are clearly mentally ill, walk the palm-lined streets like zombies – all just three blocks from multi-million-dollar homes overlooking the Pacific.
Stolen bicycles are piled high on pavements littered with broken syringes.
TV bulletins are filled with horror stories from across the city; of women being attacked during their morning jog or residents returning home to find strangers defecating in their front gardens.
Today, Los Angeles is a city on the brink. ‘For Sale’ signs are seemingly dotted on every suburban street as the middle classes, particularly those with families, flee for the safer suburbs, with many choosing to leave LA altogether.
British-born Danny O’Brien runs Watford Moving & Storage. ‘There is a mass exodus from Hollywood,’ he says.
‘And a lot of it is to do with politics.’ His business is booming. ‘August has already set records and we are only halfway through the month,’ he tells me.
‘People are getting out in droves. Last week I moved a prominent person in the music industry from a $6.5 million [£5 million] mansion above Sunset Boulevard to Nashville.’
A homeless man on Hollywood’s Walk Of Fame. Junkies and the homeless, many of whom are clearly mentally ill, walk the palm-lined streets like zombies – all just three blocks from multi-million-dollar homes overlooking the Pacific
O’Brien, 58, who moved to LA from London 34 years ago, is also planning to move to Tennessee.
‘Liberal politics has destroyed this city,’ he says.
‘The homeless encampments are legal and there’s nothing the police can do. White, affluent middle-class folk are getting out. People don’t feel safe any more.’
With movie studios still shuttered because of the coronavirus pandemic and businesses only just starting to remove the wooden boards put up after city-wide rioting following the death of George Floyd while being arrested by three white officers in Minneapolis, LA is now in the grip of white flight.
Lou Ferrigno became friends with Schwarzenegger when both worked out at Gold’s. While he might not be quite a household name like Arnie, Ferrigno starred in the TV series The Incredible Hulk and became one of the wealthiest bodybuilders in the world, with a fortune of $12 million.
President Donald Trump appointed him to his council on fitness, sports and nutrition in 2018.
But Ferrigno, for all his impeccable connections, has become fed up with what he describes as the ‘dramatic decline’ in LA. He and wife Carla recently sold their £3 million home in Santa Monica and moved into a 7,146 sq ft mansion two hours north of LA.
Carla says: ‘One morning around 7am I opened the curtains in our beautiful Santa Monica home and looking up at me from our driveway were three gang members with tattoos on their faces sitting on our retaining wall. They were cat-calling me and being vulgar. I motioned I was going to call the police and they just laughed, flicking their tongues at me and showing me their guns.’
Her husband added: ‘We put the house up for sale after 40 wonderful years and moved north. We feel lucky to have made it out. Now we are in a wonderful place and very happy.’
Renee Taylor, an Oscar-nominated screenwriter and actress who appeared in the hit TV sitcom The Nanny, recently sold her Beverly Hills home after half a century and moved to the East Coast.
‘I feel so sad for my friends left in Beverly Hills who had to suffer through looting and rioting,’ she says. ‘I got out just in time.’
The virus only made matters worse. There are homeless encampments in some of the most instantly recognisable tourist traps.
Stretches of Hollywood Boulevard – embedded with glittering stars representing those who achieved their dream of fame and fortune – resemble a Third World shanty town rather than the heart of America’s second-largest city.
Outside the Chinese Theatre where Marilyn Monroe and other screen icons are immortalised by their handprints in concrete, the Michael Jackson and Superman look alikes who usually pose with tourists have been replaced by vagrants begging for change.
Hundreds of LA’s homeless are still without protection
One of the city’s homeless – there are more than 66,000 people sleeping rough every night. The virus only made matters worse. There are homeless encampments in some of the most instantly recognisable tourist traps
Meanwhile, the visitors snap photos of a large Black Lives Matter logo painted down the middle of the street.
Car parks beside the beach in Santa Monica – a popular tourist destination for Britons – are filled with bashed-up motorhomes, each housing several people.
The authorities have even put portable toilets on the streets to try to stop the homeless relieving themselves on private property.
The Westwood area of LA, home to some of the most upmarket blocks of flats in the city, has been renamed ‘West Hood’ by locals appalled by rising crime.
Veteran publicist Ed Lozzi says: ‘The city was changing before coronavirus brought us to our knees. The homeless problem has been escalating for years, exacerbated by weak politicians making bad decisions.
‘Hollywood has always been the wokest of the woke, so politicians have done nothing to stop people sleeping on the streets. It’s not illegal and the weather’s nice, so they keep coming.
‘There is insufficient housing, inadequate mental health care. Add in Covid and it’s a perfect storm.
‘When I first arrived in LA 40 years ago, the town smelled of orange blossoms. Now the streets stink of urine. There is a beautiful park in Westwood but you can’t go there because there are people slumped on the ground and you step on a carpet of needles.
‘White flight is real. The elites and middle classes are leaving. People are taking losses on the sales of their homes to get out.’
The divide between rich and poor has never been more glaring. Just yards away from Gold’s sits the sprawling LA headquarters of internet giant Google.
The car park is housed in a building designed by architect Frank Gehry to look like a giant pair of binoculars. Private security guards wander round as a handful of employees returning after lockdown drive into the complex in their Teslas, Porsches and Range Rovers.
Charity worker Robert (he declined to give his last name) mans two portable toilets opposite the Google HQ. Recently released from jail, this menial job is the only work he can get. He says two people have overdosed in the toilets in the past two weeks.
‘I have a Narcan pen which brings them back to life after they overdose on opioids. I’ve had to use the pen twice since the beginning of August.
‘The situation is terrible. I don’t blame those who can afford to get out of the city for doing so.’
Some 66,000 people now sleep rough every night in LA – up 12.5 per cent on last year.
‘There’s no hope any more,’ he continues. ‘The rich are getting richer and there’s nothing for those on Skid Row. Trump has done nothing to help the poor. All he cares about are his rich friends making more money. If I had money I’d get out too.’
The pandemic has made many in Hollywood realise they don’t need to live in LA – or anywhere near it – to keep working.
Talent manager Craig Dorfman has moved to upstate New York. ‘A lot of people in the industry are re-evaluating their lives and saying,
‘You know, I never really loved LA. Where would I like to live? Because I can do what I want to do from anywhere,’ ‘ says Dorfman.
Fashion stylist Leah Forester and her film producer husband Bill Johnson have rented out their home and moved to the Mexican beach town of Careyes with their two children.
‘We wanted to be in the most healthy, supportive and serene environment we could be in so that we could have some sense of control over our immediate surroundings and our destiny,’ says Forester.
Comedian Joe Rogan, who makes $30 million a year from his self-titled podcast, has quit LA for Texas and says: ‘When you look at the traffic, when you look at the economic despair, when you look at the homelessness problem that’s accelerated radically… I think there are too many people here.
‘I think it’s not tenable. I don’t think that it’s manageable.’
Ironically, the celebrity enclave of Malibu – home to such leading members of the ‘wokerati’ as Leonardo DiCaprio – has cracked down hard on the homeless, bringing in local laws to prevent people parking their motorhomes along the beach overnight.
‘They’ve kicked the homeless problem into other areas of the city like Westwood and Venice,’ says publicist Ed Lozzi. ‘It’s a classic case of ‘not in my back yard’.’
Meanwhile, some of Tinseltown’s biggest stars are developing back-up plans, should the situation worsen. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson recently took Greek citizenship and have told friends they intend to spend more time in Europe.

More tents in Melrose Place, one of the trendiest addresses in Los Angeles. Stretches of Hollywood Boulevard – embedded with glittering stars representing those who achieved their dream of fame and fortune – resemble a Third World shanty town rather than the heart of America’s second-largest city
Producer Dana Brunetti, business partner of disgraced actor Kevin Spacey and producer of the Fifty Shades Of Grey films, has acquired Italian citizenship ‘because Italy is part of the EU – it gives me a lot of options if the s*** hits the fan’.
Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban have homes in LA, Nashville and her native Australia.
A source says: ‘They have been spending a lot of time in Nashville. There they can give their kids a more normal upbringing. They have been talking about getting rid of the LA place.’
When the news broke last week that Prince Harry and Meghan have chosen to make their home two hours north of LA in the upmarket hamlet of Montecito, the news shocked no one.
One Oscar-nominated writer told me: ‘They saw enough of LA those times they left Tyler Perry’s house to make them not want to raise Archie in a place like this. LA has always attracted beautiful and talented people from around the world who come here looking for fame or money or both.
‘Now the streets look like Haiti after the earthquake. It’s dirty, dangerous and work has dried up. Even when studios start to open up, people will choose to work from other places.’
The most recent high-profile name to quit Hollywood is Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, a darling of the showbusiness crowd.
Actor Robert Downey Jr has said it was Musk who inspired his portrayal of Tony Stark, the eccentric billionaire inventor in the Iron Man movies.
Elon Musk has recently sold his compound of 4 homes in Bel Air for a combined total of $62 million (£47 million) and is said to be considering a move to Texas, where he is building Tesla’s $1 billion new factory.
‘When the real-life Iron Man moves out of Hollywood, you know it’s all over,’ says a source at one of the major studio
Note: San Francisco was in no better shape in 1991-92. Homeless people crowded all the main streets. It was no longer a pleasure to walk the streets toward the many parks. I had visited West Hollywood in 1976 and walked to Beverly Hills and it was clean and nice to walk.
Investigation finds that Lebanon’s Governor moved millions abroad, including into Bristol.
In the wake of the devastating blast in Beirut and as Lebanese people rally against government corruption, Riad Salami, the governor of the bank of Lebanon, has been blamed by many for his handling of the country’s financial crisis.
Now an investigation by the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and its Lebanese partner Daraj.com has revealed that offshore companies owned by the governor invested in overseas assets worth over £75.5 million, including a large office building in Bristol, home to Boeing Defence UK.
630 Bristol Business Park in Stoke Gifford was bought in 2013 for £10.5 million by Fulwood Invest, a company registered in the tax haven of Luxembourg.
Until recently, company documents only showed that the son of the Governor, Nady Salami, and his nephew, Marwan Issa El Khoury, directed the company.
But in 2019, the list of beneficial owners of Luxembourg companies was released to comply with EU transparency regulations. With the shroud of secrecy lifted, Fulwood Invest and several other investment companies are now known to be owned by Riad Salami.
While the wealthy governor of the cash-strapped country encouraged others to invest in Lebanon, he had lavishly invested abroad.
In July 2020, the governor was formally accused by a group of Lebanese lawyers of embezzling central bank assets and mismanaging public funds.
A judge ordered a protective freeze on Salame’s assets, including his properties, ahead of a hearing this October.

Bristol Offshore
Far from just plush London townhouses and offices being scooped up by offshore companies, residential and commercial properties across the UK have also been bought, as previously reported by the Cable.
A total of 721 properties are owned by overseas companies in Bristol.
Many, but not all, of these are registered to secretive jurisdictions and tax havens. As well as being a vehicle for tax avoidance and washing dirty money, the influx of investment in property from overseas companies can also inflate local property markets.
And although registered offshore, the owners of these properties can be UK-based.
These jurisdictions often offer clients secrecy and schemes that allow income and profits to be rerouted from one place to another for tax avoidance purposes.
Salami 33,000 sq. ft office in north Bristol is leased to aerospace and weapons manufacturer, Thales, and under-let to Boeing Defence UK which engineers military aircrafts.
Over recent years, the governor’s son and nephew invested more than £30.8 million in UK commercial property through Fulwood Invest, the OCCRP found. They bought Fulwood House, an office building in central London for £5.9 million, a 7-story commercial property in Leeds for just over £10 million, and an office block in Birmingham for £5.45 million.
Steve Goodrich, senior research manager at Transparency International, told the Cable: “The UK is a hot destination for dirty money, with suspect wealth invested in high-end real estate from Surrey to the South West and Scotland.”
“Turning a blind eye to illicit investments is to allow corruption onto your doorstep. The UK must increase its efforts to clamp down on corrupt wealth,” he added.
“Opaque legal entities enable corrupt individuals to steal millions, sometimes billions, of public funds with relative impunity – money that should be spent on healthcare, education and other essential services. Ending corporate secrecy is crucial to tackling abuses of power and major barriers to global development.”
Riad Salami told the OCCRP he had broken no laws and amassed “significant private wealth” before he joined the central bank in 1993, and that “nothing prevents me from investing it”.
