Tidbits #83

Is it true people in the range of 50-70 are happier than when younger? Is that true for married couples too? For singles, it might be true: we recognize that we don’t need much, as long as the health is passable.

For the Vulnerable populations (the poorer States and elderly people), so far AstraZeneca’s candidate covid-19 vaccine may be the cheapest at $6 to $8 dollars for both doses (compared with $40+ for the others), and the only Covid-19 vaccine that only requires normal standard refrigeration storage

All human-made calamities are consequences of most of us claiming to know more than the others’, of what is right and what is wrong. We transcend our ignorance, our flawed sense of pride, our deep intelligence of our limitations and capabilities in order to fool the others’

The religious sects do not want to listen to the good in the other sects, but they assemble the flocks of the faithful around hatred because it is only in confrontation that they show their solidarity.

Tread lightly on this earth, avoid sudden movements, and do not kill trees or flowers. Pretend to plow the soil, but do not wound it. When others scream and yell, move only your lips.” Mani

Shapur begged Mani to join him on one of his war expeditions so that he may promote his religion to the conquered territories but Mani declined the offer saying: “My words shall shed no blood. My hands shall bless no blade. My hands shall neither bless the knives of sacrificing priests, nor even a woodcutter’s axe.” Mani message and later labelled the Manichean religion

The dodge? The fear that someone might see us “for who we really are” is what social media enhanced our willingness to change to match the better people.

A few manage a fantastic leap: from childhood to an older person. The period in between is defined as emotional handicap, lacking “emotional intelligence”. The best part of life is missing, and still it is good to wake up and ponder.

Israeli sniper target a child and then wait to shoot at anyone who rushes to check on the child. Thousands of Palestinians were crippled by live bullets during their weekly demonstrations of “Right to Return”

Britain is crossing the Rubicon: it will start vaccinating against Covid-19 released by the EU/German pharmaceutical Pfister. The British are the Testing Ground for the efficacy of this vaccine. The good news is that the vaccination is Not mandatory and this policy provides evaluation on 3 counts: 1) How the British have faith in this vaccine and 2) How the vaccinated people fared, and 3) Has the pandemics decreased in Britain? Nations have to wait for this evaluation before joining the bandwagon.

The passe-partout disease: Seems that the death every “famous” person is attributed to Covid-19. That is fishy: as if no famous person is eligible to die but by Corona. Think governments are manipulating and abusing of the social media platforms to excuse their massive confinement policies and their massive printing of money.

This Covid-19 pandemics has decelerated the frantic “trade” in air, route and maritime transport. A few cities experienced clearing of its air pollution for a short while. It didn’t make a dent on climate change: the UN has confirmed, as facts, that the last 5 years were the worst in “natural” calamities. Reversing this trend to sustain a slow “normal nature recovery” requires a world trend in adopting “frugal” lifestyle and away from this fixation of constant “Growth economy”.

Maybe this slowing down of the economy didn’t make a dent in the short term on climate change, but it gave hope that the mental and emotional readiness of people to adopt an alternative standard of living and lifestyle will transcend the multinational greed.
