Notes and tidbits posted on FB and Twitter. Part 146

Note: I take notes of books I read and comment on events and edit sentences that fit my style. I pay attention to researched documentaries and serious links I receive. The page is long and growing like crazy, and the sections I post contains a month-old events that are worth refreshing your memory.

Why if you’re sitting at your desk reading a book that changes your perspective, your productivity or your contribution, it somehow feels like slacking off? Is just moving your ass around a more productive behavior?

Here are more than twenty books you might want to read at work today. You and ten co-workers reading together… it might change everything: Four Steps to the Epiphany, Body of Work, The True Believer, Secrets of Closing the Sale, The Art of Possibility, On Self Reliance , The Coaching Habit, Software Project Survival Guide, The Mythical Man Month, Creating Customer Evangelists, The Tom Peters Seminar, Tribe of Mentors, A Beautiful Constraint, The Mesh, Rocket Surgery Made Easy, Impro, To Sell is Human, The Art of Work, Do the Work, Hunch, Whiplash, Start with Why, Resonate, Web Analytics 2.0

Ahed (3ahd) al Tamimi saar 3omrha 16. This Palestinian girl, blonde with blue eyes, has dazzled and dazed the Israeli occupation forces with her sustained resistance since childhood. She was arrested administratively, along with her mother, father and uncle. They cannot arrest anyone in Gaza.

Since December 2, the infamous pronouncement of Trump on Jerusalem, the Palestinians have been marching and confronting the occupation every day in 10 Palestinian provinces. The injured are over a thousand and more than a dozen killed by live bullets

Paraplegic (on a wheelchair) Ibrahim Abu Thraya, 29, was shot in the head while demonstrating last week along Gaza’s border with Israel. Israeli military cleared Israeli troops of wrongdoing on Monday, saying it found “no moral or professional failures” in the incident. (I watched this event live on Al Mayadeen)

Can you talk to a depressed person as if their life is just as valuable, intense and beautiful as yours? If you focus on that, it might just be the most uplifting conversation of their life. (Usually with someone who has been there)

Si refuser l’hospitalite’ au Liban est une injure, l’accepter est un suicide? Le temps est compte’: se rencontrer pour une discussion intellectuelle ou tramer un plan d’activism?  Pas de chance: bass la ta2 el 7anak

Capitalist system within a nation is based on 4 foundations: Private property of means of production; free internal people movement and exchange (products, services…); open free market for commerce; and availability of a vast pool of people willing to work for salary, mainly the 20% poorest classes and new immigrants.

Outside the boundaries of a nation, capitalism is exploitation of material and human resources of the militarily weaker nations

In 1972-75 of Lebanon, I could for less than 4 Lebanese pounds ($2 at the time) a day move all around Beirut, see movies, watch theater pieces, go to the beaches in mid September and October, eat local sandwiches of falafel, shaworma, and drink freshly pressed fruits. The good wonderful period.

The European colonial powers of Britain, France, Germany, Spain and the  Netherlands had no intentions of spreading their moral values to those they considered Not worthy of their pearls and gems. Whatever infrastructure they built was for facilitating their military movement and exploitation. The western powers are now paying the price for failing to apply their values in the colonies
