Investigating a genocide by late Amnon Kapeliouk (June 17, 2009)

After I published the post “The culprit: vegetative Ariel Sharon” I got hold of a frightening manuscript that kept me awake all night.

Amnon Kapeliouk published in 1982 a French book “Investigation into a massacre: Sabra and Shatila”

He gathered valuable information from a wide variety of sources both in Israel and in Lebanon.  The manuscript describes in 115 pages details of the genocide that was perpetrated in the Palestinian camps in south Beirut from Tuesday September 14 to Monday 20, 1982.

I will end the review with the political and economic reasons for this mindless and bestial slaughter house tale.

Before Tuesday, September 14, 1982

By summer 1981, Israel defense Minister Ariel Sharon had prepared an incursion plan into Lebanon.

Israel invaded Lebanon on June 4, 1982 with the avowed intention of limiting the incursion to 40 kilometers and cleaning up pockets of Palestinian resistance in south Lebanon.

In the Knesset on June 8, Menachem Begin PM describes the Palestinians “animals with two legs”. During a monster demonstration on July 17 in Tel Aviv Menachem Begin PM declared “By the end of this year we will have signed a peace treaty with Lebanon.”

The Israeli incursion extended to the Capital Beirut leaving 20,000 civilian dead and 30,000 severely injured.

“Plan Reagan” of September 2 denied Israel the annexation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.  Israel was then pressured to end this invasion and Ariel Sharon would repeatedly answer “Patience gentlemen; the fruit of this war will be obvious soon”

Minister Yaakov Meridor sent a directive to the Israeli army related to the Palestinian refugees stating: “Force the Palestinians to flee toward East Lebanon to the borders with Syria. Do not let them return”

The Israeli army (Tsahal) did their best to totally demolish the Palestinian camps in south Lebanon in Tyr, and Saida; it affected mass slaughter among the refugees.

This directive failed because the Palestinian refugees had nowhere else to go.  It was obviously that the main objective of this war was to evacuate most of the Palestinians out of Lebanon and toward Syria.

Israel knew that Lebanon was too small, weak, and with a social and political confessional fabric that would never allow the majority Palestinian Sunnis residency status.

Since the sole objective is to practically cancel out UN resolution 194 for the “right of return” of the refugees to their homeland Palestine then the other alternative was to kill as many as they could.

Ariel Sharon bombarded Beirut for 3 weeks and closed off all access to the Capital.  The Lebanese political leaders in Beirut urged Arafat to leave Beirut and a deal with President Reagan’s special envoy Philip Habib stipulated that the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) headed by Yasser Arafat and 12,000 strong was to be evacuated to Cyprus on French navies and then head to Tunisia.

(Actually, the PLO barely had 6,000 fighters, but they had to assemble 12,000 Palestinians in order to fulfill the number required by Israel)

The PLO left Lebanon and the camps were not defended.  The multinationals of the USA, France, and Italy (supposed by the deal to defend the civilians) vacated their posts around the Palestinian camps by order of Israel.

During the early years of the civil war in Lebanon there were 3 camps in the Christian districts such the ones in Dbayeh, Jesr al Basha, and Tell al Zaatar. The Christian militias overran these camps and forced the evacuation of the Christian Palestinians by military activities, genocide, and terror.

These camps were prime Real Estates and the developers, the deputies and ministers of the Metn district made a fortune. (principally Amine Gemayel, the older brother of Bashir, and who headed the Phalangists in the Meten district)

As Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982, the “Lebanese Forces” and Real Estates developers had plans for the even higher value Estates in Shatila and Sabra Palestinian camps in Beirut. They figured that they will rule Lebanon alongside the Israelis.

Tuesday, September 14, 1982; (Iron Brain Operation):

The Israeli army is stationed on the outskirts of Beirut on all sides. Multinational forces of the USA, France, and Italy were brought in to protect the Palestinian civilians in the camps around Beirut.

Bachir Gemayel was elected President of the Lebanese Republic on August 23 under the bayonet of the Israeli army.  Bachir Gemayel (34 years old) was the closest ally to Israel since the civil war broke out in April 13, 1975 and he headed the Christian militias named “The Lebanese Forces”.

By coercion and frightful infighting, Bacir united the Phalange Party, the Party of Camille Chamoun, and other fringe parties. “The Lebanese Forces” had received from Israel military training, military sophisticated hardware, logistics, and military intelligence.

Israel Menachem Began PM and Ariel Sharon (Defense Minister) expected immediate peace pact to be signed by Bashir.  Initially, Bashir was reluctant to officially sign any peace treaty before he discusses with Arab leaders and consolidate his power.

At 4:10 p.m. a charge of 50 kilos of TNT explodes at the above flat where Bachir was meeting with his supporters in Ashrafieh.  Sharon had accurate intelligence of the status of Bachir within minutes.  The media and radios would refrain from declaring Bachir dead until 10:30 p.m.

By 6 p.m. Israel has established an air bridge to land tanks and soldiers in Beirut airport.  Sharon and Begin PM agree to enter the Capital Beirut without consulting with their cabinet of ministers.  An already detailed military plan for invading West Beirut is unfolded in the Defense Ministry.

Wednesday, September 15; (Israel occupies the first Arab Capital)

General Amir Drori, commander of Northern Israel region, receive the order at 12:30 a.m. to take over the strategic points in West Beirut.  At 3:30 a.m. commanders of the Christian militias known as “Lebanese Forces” are assembled in their headquarters on the outskirt of south Beirut close to the Israeli headquarter.

The Israeli Generals Rafael Eytan (Falfoul) and Amir Drori are discussing plans with the militia officers Fadi Frem, Elie Hobeika, Emile 3id, Michel Zouein, Deeb Anastase, Maroun Machaalani, Joseph Edde and the liaison “Jessy”.  They are ironing out details of the invasion of the Christian milias into the Palestinian camps of Sabra and Shatila.

The “Lebanese Forces” militia got busy painting their logos on walls and trees with directional arrows for troop’s movement from Chouweifat to Kuwait Embassy.

At 5 a.m. the Israeli forces have cordoned off both Palestinian camps.  By 9 a.m. Ariel Sharon is observing the deployment from a tall building close to the Kuwait Embassy and overlooking the camps, 200 meters away.

Sharon finds time at 1 a.m. to fly to Bikfaya and present his condolences to the Gemayel family; he is received coldly.

The Lebanese army in West Beirut, headed by Michel Aoun, refuses to cooperate with Tsahal.  By nightfall electricity power is shut off in West Beirut.  By 10 p.m. rockets for lighting the Palestinian camps are launched at the rate of two per minutes at each launching point.

Thursday, September 16 (Felicitations! Our friends are entering the camps)

By noon, West Beirut has completely fallen and Tsahal is rounding up thousands of Lebanese at checkpoints.  The Palestinian camps are shelled and Israeli snipers are active.

At noon General Drori asks Fadi Frem if his militias are ready to enter the camps. They are ready and 1,500 Christian militias receive the green light for action.  They assemble by the airport and the Israeli General Amos Yaron exhibit to them aerial maps.

General Yaron confirms that Tsahal will deliver all the logistics and supplies for the “cleaning up of the camps”.  The Christian militias were never shy proclaiming at every occasion to the Israeli officers that they meant a thorough slaughter of babies, women, and elderly Palestinians.

The Phalangists (Kataeb) used to utter their motto “A dead Palestinian is pollution. The extermination of all Palestinian refugees in Lebanon is the solution” (A repetition of Israel motto: “A good Palestinian is a dead Palestinian”

A unit of 150 Christian’ militias crosses from Ouzai to the Lebanese army barrack of Henri Chehab to their headquarters at the UN building.  The Israeli checkpoints let 25 jeeps packed of militias enter the camp of Chatila at 4 p.m.

The frightened civilian Palestinians go to the Israeli headquarter ad expressed their strong concerns. They are told to return and not be worried.  A detachment of soldiers of the splintered Lebanese army in south Lebanon and commanded by Major Saad Haddad, the stooge to Israel, arrives to the outskirts of Chatila.  Before 5 p.m. the dirty wolves were inside the chicken hen.

Within an hour, hundreds of Palestinian civilians, babies, women, and elderly are slaughtered by machetes, knives, and hatchets.  Palestinians and Lebanese within the camps, regardless of being Christians or Muslims, are killed while having supper.

The militias cut off limbs of women to grab bracelets attached in their forearms before finishing off their victims. Babies’ skulls are smashed on walls. Women are raped before being killed.  Nine Jewish women who married Palestinians long time ago were also killed.

During the night, delegations of Palestinians arrive at Israel’s headquarter to explain the situation and they are repulsed to the camps; most of the members of the delegations disappeared.  A militia demands a stretcher for a few wounded companions and explains “We have finished off more than 250 dirty Palestinians”

By 11 p.m. a militia commander had expedited to the highest military Israeli echelons a succinct report stating “As of now 300 terrorists have been eliminated”.

The camps were brightly lighted with 81 mm rockets.  Two thousand Palestinians take refuge in nearby hospitals named Akka and Gaza.

In Jerusalem at 7:30 p.m. the Israeli cabinet met for 4 hours; Chief of Staff Raphael Eytan quickly goes over the situation in the camps stating “The Phalangists are cleaning up a few nests of terrorists”.  The massacre resumed for the entire night.

The Israeli soldiers were witnessing the genocides and did not move.  A single Israeli soldier with a minimum of moral standing and with a minimum of guts could have entered and ordered the militias out; they would have obeyed!  Nobody moved. The Israeli soldiers just reported to their higher commanders who knew the plan.

Friday, September 17

At day break and from their posts Israeli soldiers could see people lined up on walls and executed. The hospitals are invested; foreign physicians and nurses are chased out and everyone inside is killed.  An Israeli officer broadcast “It is not done to pleasure us. I forbid you to intervene in the camps.”

Fresh militias, among them “soldiers” of Saad Haddad, enter the camps in jeeps and bulldozers that we were borrowed from the Israeli army.

At 11 a.m. the militias barge into Akka hospital and finish off the injured; they raped a nurse ten times before killing her.  Forty of the personnel are hoarded into a truck; they will disappear.

Bulldozers are digging ditches by the Israeli headquarter; a Norwegian diplomat observe a shoveling truck dumping cadavers into the ditches.

By noon, fresh militias reinforcement are observed by the airport; ten “command cars”, 13 tanks, jeeps, and more bulldozers are filmed by an Israeli TV channel reporter Ron Ben Yishai heading toward the camps.  The militias carry with them plenty of alcoholic beverages and hashish.

The Israeli Chief of Staff lands his helicopter at Beirut airport 3:30 p.m. and meet with the militia chief Fadi Frem and congratulates him on “a job well done” because they did not obey the American orders to vacate the camps.

Eytan flies back to his ranch in Tel-Adashim to celebrate Israel’s New Year with his family; he will call Sharon around 9 p.m. to tell him “the Phalangists are exaggerating”. Today, the militias are shooting bullets to expedite the “clean up” mission.  Trucks packed with Palestinians are taken out of camps; the detainees are never heard of.

All night long, with the camps well lighted by Israeli rockets, the bulldozers are destroying the shantytown homes over their inhabitants.  Yesterday, the objective was to terrorize the Palestinians out of camps; they had nowhere to go since the Israeli checkpoints forced them to return to camps.

This night, the goal is to erase the camp completely of any structure and clean up this prime Real Estate.  Ben Yishai called up Sharon to inform him of the horrible conditions in the camps and he reported “Ariel Sharon gave me the impression that he was updated thoroughly on the situation”.

In the Israeli headquarters soldiers are eating lavishly, celebrating the New Year, and enjoying the carnage scene overlooking the Palestinian camps. A single Israeli soldier with a minimum of moral standing and with a minimum of balls could have entered and ordered the militias out: they would have obeyed Not a single soldier was bold enough to be actively moved.

Saturday, September 18, 1982:  (No prisoners taken)

At dawn the carnage goes on. It will resume till after 10 a.m. the time that Israel had decided that the operation should end.

At 6 a.m. the loudspeakers of the militias are encouraging the Palestinians to set out of their homes saying “Go out and you will be saved” (Salimou Tislamou).

Thousands obey the order and they are hoarded into trucks; they will disappear. Many are executed on the way: “It is better to kill the maximum before delivering them to the Israelis”.

The roads toward Ouzai are strewn with bodies.  The bulldozers and shoveling equipments are working full time.  The hospitals get invested again and the injured achieved.  The foreign physicians and nurses witness the activities helplessly.

At exactly 10 a.m. Israeli tanks move toward the camps; it is the signal for the militias to vacate the camps. Over 4,000 Palestinian and Lebanese civilians in camps containing more than 20,000 will be recorded disappeared.

For two weeks, the Lebanese army, Red Cross, and volunteers will not be able to “re-clean up” this human disaster. (To be continued in my posts “Reactions to the genocide”)

Note 1:  The Lebanese Shia in south Lebanon had strong animosity against the Palestinian fedayins since 1975 when the civil war started: Israel was constantly shelling and bombing the south “in reprisal” of the Palestinian “katiusha”: the Lebanese government and army had stopped reacting or coming to the aid of its citizens in south Lebanon.

The charismatic leaders of the Shia Imam Moussa Sadr managed to control their anger until he “disappeared” in 1978 while on a visit to Libya.

Probably Israel had assassinated Sadr and blamed Kadhafi for the disappearance. Israel knew that as Moussa Sadr is out of the picture then the Shia will welcome the Israeli invading forces with rice and joy to get rid of the Palestinian resistance forces.

That is what happened exactly; Shia joined the splintered Lebanese army in the south which was commanded by major Saad Haddad, a stooge to Israel.  From 1978 to 1983 the Shia militias of AMAL, lead by Nabih Berri, the successor to Sadr, followed the orders of the Syrian regime to enter every Palestinian camp and retrieve heavy weapons.

Many battles with the Palestinians inside camps were routine. All that was reversed as Hezbollah was formed in 1984 by the support of Khomeini in Iran.

Nabih Berri of AMAL calmed down and Israel withdrew without any preconditions from south Lebanon in May 24, 2000 as the splintered Lebanese army lacked manpower and suffered heavy casualties by the frequent well targeted Hezbollah attacks.

Note 2: Yasser Arafat played a central role during the Lebanese civil war that started in April 13, 1975 and ended in 1991.  He tried to maintain a balanced position in the tag of war between Hafez Assad of Syria and Sadate of Egypt at the expense of the Lebanese civilians.

The leftist Lebanese organizations relied on Arafat for logistics in arms and ammunition and he controlled them completely.  Arafat and his PLO were actually fighting Israel, Syria, and the Christian militias of the “Lebanese Forces”.

Arafat once declared in Ramallah around 1998 that he was the de facto governor of Lebanon for over 20 years, even before the civil war broke out. Lebanon would have been saved 13 years of mindless civil war if Arafat had decided to relinquish Lebanon to Syria and dealt with Israel in 1977 instead of 1993 for part of Palestine as he was forced to do later during the Oslo Agreement.

Note 3: There are indications that ex-President Amine Gemayel, Deputy and Minister Michel Murr, and the Maronite Church are among the profiteers in the reclamation of the land of the Palestinian camps in the Christian cantons.

A Palestine State? Lost in 1993 as Israel was convinced that all was swallowed up and done with

Robert Martin posted on FB:

By 1993 the Israel government knew for certain a Palestine State could not be established in the West Bank.

The settlements were there, billions were invested. The entire Jordan river valley was settled with villages, there were major cities (exclusively for Jews) already built in the West Bank, the entire Jerusalem was taken over by Israel.

There was no place any more for a Palestinian state to be established, and that is when Israel said OK, we will begin negotiations.

(Israel was under heavy pressure to negotiate a kind of a “peace” with the Arab world after the “Liberation of Kuwait” from the troops of Saddam Hussein. A peace conference was decided to resume, and Israel wanted to deal with the Palestinians alone as the weaker party)

They allowed Arafat to come; misleading him into thinking that they were really intending to make peace and basically forced him to sign an agreement that would complete his surrender..

Yasser Arafat was willing to give up almost 80% of his homeland and the right for the Palestinian refugees to return to their homeland and be compensated, all for the sake of peace, what he wouldn’t go beyond was 20% , he wouldn’t give up Gaza and the West Bank, that he couldn’t do.

They wanted him to sign a surrender agreement and he wouldn’t.

Its not the Palestinians that are not willing to make concessions, its Israel that is incapable of making concessions , because concessions on the land are impossible from a Zionist perspective, the whole name of the game is taking the land and making it ours and this exactly the process that took place.

Note: Arafat was NO fool by any stretch of the imagination and he knew how to hold on power and be connected with all Arab leaders.

By 1993, Arafat was vegetating in Tunisia. The Palestinian resistance fighters were kicked out of Lebanon in 1982 (by Sharon when he entered Beirut),  and from Jordan in 1969 (by King Hussein), and Arafat had no cards left to put any pressure on anyone.

By 1993, Arafat had lost any hope that he could rely on any Arab State to practically and strongly back the Palestinian cause.

By 1993, Arafat was cornered and ha little choice but to grab on the bait that Israel PM Rabin was dangling to him.

Arafat was no fool and he knew that Israel was no fool in asking to negotiate a “peaceful settlement” with the PLO.

For Arafat, if external actions were almost impossible to carry out, at least he could change his tactics by getting active from the inside, on any piece of land within Palestine.

Israel PM Sharon didn’t even want to negotiate with Arafat as Rabin had decided.

Sharon ignited the Second Palestinian Intifada in 2001 that Arafat didn’t want by invading the Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

Sharon reacted savagely to the Oslo agreement, and publicly claimed that Rabin should be assassinated, and his wishes were satisfied as a body guard of Rabin did the job (the first political assassination in Israel) and Sharon snatched the power in Israel.

Sharon placed Arafat in de-facto house arrest in Ramallah and then assassinated him in 2005.

Sharon withdrew the Israeli settlement from Gaza, claiming that Gaza was never part of Biblical Israel, but part of Egypt.

Sharon build the Wall of Shame separating Israel from the West Bank.

Arafat took a calculated gamble, but circumstances turned not in his favor:

1. Bush Jr. was voted in as president by a ludicrous margin and

2. Sharon was steadfast in cancelling out any previous agreement with Arafat.

3. And the Arab States were cowed after the US invaded Iraq in 2003.

4. Sharon wanted to tear Iraq apart because Iraq was the main powerhouse in the Levant, in population, wealth, education… and not on the border with Israel to invade at Israel pleasure. And the US was fooled to believe that controlling oil production and distribution cannot be done without land military presence in Iraq.

What that! Nobel Prize for Passivity? (October 17, 2009)

A new Nobel Prize is created!  The criteria are no longer life-time award for active fight on famine, diseases, human rights, establishing international organizations for caring to the wounded fallen on battle fields (Red Cross), catering to the lowest castes of humanity, coming to the scour of human dignity buffeted and trampled by the blood sucking “mosquitoes”.  Nobel Peace Prize has changed criterion: it is awarded to new political leaders to encourage them to work toward peace; a sort of pre-emptive incentive hoping that the dangled “bait” might promote peace more effectively than waiting for actual deeds.

What that? He is barely 9 months in office and nothing tangible to show and account for that he might be a potential “peace loving” leader.  Was Barak Obama awarded the most honored Peace prize for canceling the “offensive missile shield” in Europe simply because the US can no longer afford extra expenses and China refused to cough up the dough? Was Obama rewarded in exchange of Brazil being selected as the next soccer Olympic site?  Was Obama awarded this prestigious prize for voting NO to the discussion of the report on crimes against humanity committed in Gaza? Was Obama rewarded for increasing troops in Afghanistan (over 40,000 soldiers) since he came to power?  Was Obama rewarded this life-time achieving work for failing to put a hold on further Israeli expansion on lands not its own?

Is the Nobel committee too lax and anxious to debase the value of Peace Prizes?  I sit lacking worthy nominees and opting for the last come first served candidates?

What that?  How come the Peace Prize has become exclusively awarded to political leaders?  Why all these political leaders were selected from among those who signed “peace treaties” on the White House Lawn (blue, rose, green, I forgot, but never white) before waiting for the proper execution of the terms of the peace contracts?  Began and Sadate were awarded this prize and then Begin started his pre-emptive war on Lebanon in 1982 and Sadate encouraged the civil war in Lebanon to go on indefinitely. Arafat and Rabin were awarded the same prize and then all the peace process terms were freezed and canceled by successive Israeli leaders.

The Norwegian Nobel committee, used to award “Peace Prizes” for personalities who contributed greatly to communicating the spirit of peace and actively working toward instituting peace around the world and in their communities; the decisions have been politicizing: they contributed to lavishing this prize to totally undeserving individuals of war criminals and criminals against humanity. The latest of awardees is Israel President Simon Perez who said lately: “Israel can protect its babies against Gaza babies” and who participated in the decision making to perpetrate genocide on the Palestinian civilians in Gaza and shelled the UN peace keeping forces in Qana Lebanon in 1986 killing 120 civilians and double in severe casualties.  Many deserving Nobel Peace Prize awardees signed a petition saying that they feel ashamed that Peres was awarded such an honorable prize.

The Norwegian committee has awarded this prize to Kissinger, the US Secretary of State under Nixon who prosecuted the Viet Nam war until it was a losing case; Kissinger is the one who planned and prosecuted the Lebanese civil war in conjunction with Sadate of Egypt.

What that? Any President to the US after Bush Junior could have gotten this award!  Should this prize be extended to the American people simply because they got tired of all the Bush Junior Administration nonsense and for witnessing the worst world financial crash?

I suggest that the Nobel Peace Prize be split into two prizes: the life-time social activists for human peace and the most passive political leader who refrained from interfering in other states affairs. It is the responsibly of the Norwegian government or its Parliament to strip the names of those who won these prizes and then proven to be undeserving from the list of this Hall of Fame or we will label this list the Hall of Shame!

Right to Return: for the Palestinian refugees (June 15, 2009)

There are more than 400,000 Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and their birth rate is three times the average of the Lebanese.  The Palestinian refugees are concentrated in a dozen camps (ghettoes) and they run their communities. The Lebanese government is not extending facilities to the camps or to issuing work permits.  The UN agency UNRUWA is supposed to care for the education and health of the refugees since they were chased out from their homeland in 1948.  In the last decade the UNRUWA budget has been politically reduced to force the Lebanese government into de facto enacting residency status to the refugees.

Lebanon facilitated the influx of the Palestinian refugees in 1948 under the perception that it was a temporary stay since UN resolution demanded the return of the Palestinians. Israel exacerbated the problem by sending another wave of refuges in 1967 after it occupied the West Bank.  The Palestinian resistance was born but it failed to rely on the Palestinians inside the State of Israel for effective resistance against the occupiers.

There were three camps in the Christian districts which were closed down during the civil war such the ones in Dbayeh, Jesr al Basha, and Tell al Zaatar; the Christian militias forced the evacuation of the Christian Palestinians by military activities, genocide, and terror.

Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982 and with the cooperation of the USA and France the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) headed by Arafat was forced to evacuate Beirut to Cyprus and then to Tunisia.  The remaining camps were supposed to be the refuge of civilians and not containing any heavy weapons.

The entrance/exits of camps are monitored by the Lebanese army and the movement of the refugees strictly controlled.  A salafist Sunni movement “Jund al Sham” challenged the army in Nahr al Bared camp in Tripoli.  This camp is demolished and waiting for financial aid to be re-constructed.

The ex-President Emile Lahoud fought the good fight to keep the right of return of the UN resolution 194 alive during his tenure. For example, before the Summit of the Arab League in Beirut of April 2002, the Saudi Foreign Affairs Seoud Al Faissal visited President Lahoud on March 22 and handed him the project of the Saudi Monarch of “peace for land” without a specific clause of “the right of return”.  President Lahoud refused it. Lahoud was subjected to al kinds of pressures and diplomatic maneuvering to let the project as is with no modifications but he didn’t relent. The Arab leaders suggested including the “right of return” as a separate clause to no avail. The Saudi Prince Abdallah was forced to include the clause as intrinsic part of the peace for land PROJECT.  The USA vowed to make the tenure of Lahoud a period of hell for foiling their major political goal.

It is crystal clear that the western nations have a sole political purpose for Lebanon: accepting the Palestinian refugees as Lebanese residents.  The civil war from 1975 to 1991 failed to achieve completely that goal though most of the prosperous Christian families preferred to immigrate.

Late Rafic Hariri PM believed that an overall peace deal with Israel is highly serious and went along a program of easing the conditions of the Palestinian refugees.  It turned out that there will be no peace with Israel because Israel’s interest is not in any kind of peace.  Pragmatic Hariri realized that the social and political fabric in Lebanon cannot digest 400,000 Palestinians and he changed his strategy; he was assassinated by the detonation of a roadside truck containing 1000 kilos of TNT.

Though the US Administration comprehends better the predicament of Lebanon it is still hoping that this tragedy could be settled at the expense of the Lebanese people. Hezbollah challenged that strategy and won its war against Israel in 2006. The leader of the Tayyar Party, General Michel Aoun, has picked up the banner of fighting any policies targeted at settling the Palestinians in Lebanon and he won by a landslide in Mount Lebanon.  The coalition of Hezbollah and the Tayyar has put a strong break to the western strategy of reducing Lebanon to a refugee status.

Mind you that Sadat shared this honorable prize with Menahim Begin, the Zionist terrorists since 1920 and who became Prime Minister and invaded Lebanon in 1982 and entered the Capital Beirut.

Mind you that Arafat also shared this honorable prize with General Rabin, the Zionist Prime Minister who pre-empted the war in 1967 against Egypt and Syria and led terrorist activities against the Palestinians.  Arafat cooperated with Sadat to set Lebanon afire for over 15 years.

What is it with Norway that it feels compelled to politicize the Nobel Peace Prize? What! Do I have to wage a pre-emptive war and then work out a flimsy peace negotiation in order to be awarded a peace prize?           Do I have to be a Zionist zealot in order to increase my odds for being considered a worthy peace recipient?

What next? Are Bush Junior, Cheney, Olmert, Ehud Barak, Natanahu, Mubarak, and Condo potential candidates for Nobel Peace prizes?  What next?  Would Hilary Clinton and Barak Obama be the next candidates if they succeed to eliminate Hamas over the death of 1,000 babies and 5,000 injured Palestinians in Gaza?  Would Mahmoud Abbass be awarded a Peace Nobel as a consolation prize?  Would the Wahhabi Saudi monarch, the leader of the darkest and terrorist religious sect, be considered a serious candidate if he offered one billion dollars for the prize?

It is not enough to feel ashamed!  It is the responsibly of the Norwegian government or its Parliament to strip the names of those who won these prizes and then proven to be undeserving from the list of this Hall of Fame or we will label this list the Hall of Shame!

“The murderer as he talks” by Nasri Sayegh (Part 3, January 3, 2009)

The dead were collected in the streets of Tripoli as Arafat tried a second come back to Lebanon in 1984.  The dead were packed in plastic bags and sold to the relatives.  A poor woman recognized her dead baby and she was asked to purchase it.  She fainted and the “good” guys helped her to recover consciousness but refused to deliver her baby.

A column of elder people of all genders was pushed to advance into a mine field. When the column slowed down the rear column was decimated with machine guns.

Asaad Shaftary, the remorseful Phalange leader, testified that the Christian forces planned to poison the potable water in West Beirut so that the Moslem population could be reduced by 500,000 in order to re-establish a confessional balance in Lebanon.

Asaad said that many Maronite fighting groups were solely constituted of members of rich families because they refused to fight along side the other poorer social strata; they fought mostly at night, they had their own command, and  they were ferocious and executed their orders efficiently.

Mona Sokarieh interviewed many scores of youths on barricades in West Beirut and from all confession Sunni Moslem, Shiaa Moslem, Druze, Christian and even secular fighters.  The common denominators among those youth killers are that they are mostly un-educated, barely can read or write, had no idea what is fascism, Nazism, socialism, federalism, or any concept that their warlord leaders were claiming to fight for.

Most of them started when they were barely 13-year of age and they love to carry their weapons.  They have been engaged in fights, and killed prisoners and they are not that remorseful or apologetic.  They all obey and worship their warlords and their ideology is non-existent if not confused out of ignorance.

There have been many genocide occurrences in the last century; the Armenians, the Jews, the Cambodians, and the Rwandans; not counting the apartheid systems in South Africa and Rhodesia, the colonial massacres by the French of the Algerians, the massacres of the Zionist State of the Palestinians, the Serbs of the Bosnians, the US of the Iraqis, the Taliban in Afghanistan, and the purposeful famine waves in China and Russia.

In Rwanda, the minority Tutsi tribe was selected by the German colonial power as the most fit to govern the country; then when the French took over they changed their policy and appointed the Hutu tribe to govern.  For over 100 days, the European and the US did not intervene in the genocide that killed over 600,000 Tutsis.

In Cambodia, the ultra “communist” Red Khmer had wide latitude to kill every educated Cambodian or “bourgeoisie” and massacred over one million before Viet Nam had time to breath of its war with the US and enter this country and put an end to the genocide.

The “Indians” of America were massacred because the Protestant clergy declared the Indians not of human type; they were not worth being converted to Christianity.  President Theodore Roosevelt declared in the 20th century that “A good Indian is a dead Indian

The country of Mexico had 15 million inhabitants in the year 1500. After the Spanish conquistadors entered Mexico, the population dropped to 2.5 millions within 50 years. And the population of Peru declined from 9 to 1.3 millions in the same period.

Franco of Spain committed genocide in Morocco but he was forgiven by the Europeans until he transplanted the same technique into “White Europe“.

“Chroniques de Gaza” by Caroline Manger (September 29, 2008)

Caroline Manger, a correspondent to weekly French magazine Paris Match, wrote “Chroniques de Gaza.  Sous les bombes, la vie”, a documentary of the lives of the Israelis and Palestinians in the Gaza district.  The manuscript is of 270 pages and divided into 24 chapters spanning from February 2004 before the Israeli colonies in and around Gaza were dismantled to August 2007 after the Islamists party of Hamas displaced the security services of the Fateh authority from Gaza.

During the second Palestinian “intifada” there were frequent skirmishes between the Palestinians and the Israelis living in the colonies in and around Gaza; the security conditions on both sides became untenable. Israel tried to bring security in Gaza by military force and by target assassinations of the Palestinian faction leaders but it failed.

Before former Israel Ariel Sharon PM decided to withdraw the colonies from the Gaza strip, no more than 360 square kilometers and surrounded by Israel from all sides, there were 21 Israeli colonies in this crowded and most dense location on earth.  The colonies were established after 1967 when Israel captured Gaza from Egypt at the instigation and strong support of Arial Sharon; they claimed that practically most of the houses and makeshift residences belonged to Ariel Sharon.

The Israeli colons were ultra-extremists on two counts politically and religiously; politically they wanted to push the borders of Eretz Israel as far as they could and they were as strict religiously as the Islamist Hamas Palestinians faction. The colons prohibited the establishment of movie theaters in their colonies and the households refused to install TV on account of impure display of images; the women washed fully closed, were hidden from male visitors by a partition and the beaches were separated by gender.  The pre-fabricated apartments and houses were mostly trailers ready to move out on short notice.  The colons adored Sharon they nicknamed him Arik. All the palm and olive trees in the fields separating the colonies from the nearby Palestinian villages were cut down so that the colons could have a clear view of any Palestinian infiltration! The families were mostly freshly arrived adventurous immigrants from France and ultra US conservative Christian-Jews.  Many US billionaires contributed to building bypass bridges so that the colons would not drive through Palestinian villages.

One colony needed 600 soldiers to protect 50 families and the Palestinian inefficient homemade missiles drove the Israeli government for frequent reprisals to the angst of the European Union.  Sharon then decided to vacate the colonies from Gaza because as he declared “Gaza was anyway never mentioned as belonging to the promised land”

Israel was not serious about any peace plan after the Oslo agreement in 1993 for offering a viable and sustainable Palestinian State and continued to impoverish the Palestinian newly formed Authority in Ramallah and Gaza and endeavored to destroy whatever new facilities and infrastructure that the European Union contributed to.  In May 2004 Israel launched operation “Rainbow and cloud” and sealed off Gaza and pounded it for 5 days and demolished the infrastructure and razed houses for a corridor before the final withdrawal of the colonies in August 22, 2005. On the fifth day of the war when all the guns went silent the Israeli snipers killed many children less than 10 years old to keep the reign of terror. The author gives horrid detailed account of the Palestinian victims and the situation in these makeshift clinics, transformed into hospitals, during Israeli military incursions.

For a year when Mahmoud Abbas was elected President the Palestinians wanted to believe in a peace process but it failed and Israel resumed its targeted assassinations of Hamas leaders such as its blind and paraplegic leader Cheikh Yassine and then his successor the pediatric Al Rantissi; thus Hamas gained supporters.  In the meantime, the colons who had pledged to fight the fight against any eviction left voluntarily two days before the ultimatum; the hefty compensations were a serious factor (obviously paid for by the US tax payers).

As soon as the Israeli colons departed then the Palestinian resistance fighters ventured into Gaza City; they were hiding for over six months in their dug out and undergrounds resisting Israel frequent incursions in Gaza and then they were awestruck to discover the luxurious trend that the cronies of the Abbas’ Authority were carrying on.  These fighters were not even merged into the Authority internal security forces because President Abbas decided to hire only young people of less than 22 of age to secure their loyalty.  The fighters found out that they were out of employment and their dedication and sacrifices not appreciated.

When a democratic election that the western States insisted on carrying in Gaza took place then Hamas ended up winning the parliamentary election by a land slide.  The Abbas’ Authority refused to cooperate with Hamas in the re-shuffling of the security services that harassed, imprisoned, tortured and even killed Hamas members since 1998.  Maybe Hamas prematurely agreed to form a majority government because the Western States cut off all financial aid to the new Hamas government and the civil servants were not paid for over 4 months.  The States of Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia didn’t appreciate the coming into power of a radical Islamic party and did their best to put the squeeze even more.

Finally, Hamas evicted the Fateh forces, headed by strongman Dahlan, from Gaza when it realized that the US is funding the Authority’s preventive security services with over 60 million dollars for cracking down on Hamas.  The offensive didn’t last 5 days before the Fateh forces fled Gaza; many of the high paid and corrupt officers bribed heavily to have passages through the underground tunnels linking Gaza to Egypt.  The inhabitants of Gaza are living in wretched misery on $2 a day and over 60% of the work force is out of employment because this kind of democratic outcome does not suit the western nations.

Personal note:  In the mid eighties Israel transferred Islamic Palestinians to the southern borders of Lebanon hoping that Lebanon would welcome them as refugees; this did not happen.  The transferred Palestinians lived in makeshift tents for over six months before Israel was forced by the international community to re-transfer them to Gaza.  Thus, a new Islamic fundamentalist party was instituted called Hamas.  Many claim that Israel created Hamas, as the USA administrations created the Afghan Mujahideens to face the Soviet invasion, in order to destabilize the concept of a democratic bi-partisan government with Israel.  The Organization for the Liberation of Palestine (OLP) was lead by the Palestinian secular main faction of Fateh and headed by Arafat.  Israel would not accept this political structure for fear of demographic imbalance in the near future and wanted a purely Jewish State.
