Symbolic Capital of what? Hatred, successive occupations, genocides, indignities, apartheid

Synagogue, Mosque Al Aqsa, Jerusalem, attacks, killing, settlements…

One religious sect is intent on killing as many of another religious sect and denying it the rights to exercise its faith…

Want to understand the attack on the synagogue in Jerusalem today?

First, understand that Jerusalem is occupied. The land is not “disputed” or “contested.” It is occupied.

Second, recognize that human rights violations continue  on a daily basis against Palestinians, both in occupied Jerusalem and in the larger occupied West Bank (as well as within “Israel” and, of course, in Gaza).

Homes are demolished very frequently for one reason or another, for expansion of settlements, punishing the families of kids who killed a heinous settler who cut down the olive trees (11,000 olive and fruit trees were cut down by settlers this year alone)

From 1999 to May 2014, almost 1,000 homes in occupied Jerusalem were demolished, leaving more than 2,028 Palestinians house-less.

Third, Children are detained by Israeli military. And administrative detention for long periods is the norm. Over 60% of Palestinian youth went through the revolving doors of prison with no charges

Fourth, People are lynched, shot, tortured, injured – on a regular basis.
Fifth, Land is continually stolen. Israel plans to build 500 new colonies – leading to the expulsion of 1,000 Palestinians from their homes and their lands!
Sixth, Palestinian Lives are regularly dehumanized. Decent living standards deliberately denied.

Seventh, 75% of the Palestinian Jerusalemites live below the poverty line.

Since early June, Palestinian neighborhoods have been flooded with tear gas, skunk water, and drones.

Eight,  Residency rights for Palestinian Jerusalemites denied (while any Jew can live there).  Since 1967, on average 200 Palestinians have been denied their residency rights in Jerusalem. More than 14,309 Palestinians have been denied their residency rights since 1967. This is ethnic cleansing, since the Jews consider themselves a Race.

Apartheid strengthened. Example: Two days ago, Israeli military officials defended the attack of a 10-year-old Palestinian boy at the Kissufim checkpoint, after troops shot him in the neck for “loitering.”

Israeli military confirm that shooting the child in the neck for “loitering” was consistent with the military protocol.

Nine, recognize that these human rights violations are supported by the institutions within Israel – from military, to settlers, to media, to universities.

Example: Israeli settlers lynch a Palestinian driver, Hassan Yousef Rammouni, 32, and father of two children, in occupied Jerusalem.

Israeli authorities respond by prohibiting Hassan’s family from taking his body until they sign a paper declaring that Hassan committed suicide.

Example: Israeli forces fail to probe 83% of settler violence cases — rights group.

Example: Israeli settlers regularly “hit-and-run” Palestinians and no charged are imposed on them; all are regarded as mere “accidents.”

Tenth, refuse to decontextualize this act from the ongoing occupation. It CANNOT be separated.

Eleventh, it honestly doesn’t matter if you personally support or condemn the attack, if you stand with liberation and justice, then stand with the occupied people’s right to resist, stand with the struggle, stand against occupation and apartheid.

Twelfth, still having difficulty? Well – did you support the French resistance against the Nazi occupation?

Criminal Conditions (February 16, 2009)

In critical situations of death (suicide or killing others) two main conditions have to exist.  The first basic condition is a physical material one (health problems or financial miseries, or both).  The second complementary condition is an idealistic spiritual motivator (revenge, dignity, freedom, and so forth).

As the bad material condition persists or worsen,  the spiritual factor develop in focus, in target, and in planning.  Committing a crime is not easy at all:  You need a network of supporting elements; you need the arm, the close friends’ network, the social and cultural environments, and you need the conscious target to be frequently available.  Even those we always label as “crazies” need a support system to carry out their crime.

The spiritual motivator always comes in second in the chronology of a crime, but it quickly takes a life of its own and over shadow the fundamental source of the germinating idea.  There is this special case where the criminal is dirty rich and yet commit crimes; but we always forget to dig a little in his past, before he became rich and how he started his trip to riches, and how he built his support system.

There are ways to deflect the soaring spiritual emotion.  First, the material condition is altered temporarily, and the second spiritual factor is slowed temporarily on its track because it failed to gel in focus and target.  Second, the material base is not changed but the spiritual motivator is redirected to financial crimes.  Third, the supporting environment and elements are altered in recognition of the danger and a heightened climate of vigilance may deter a criminal plan.

It really takes a little to change the material condition to deflect the whole process.  The potential criminal can be encouraged to ask or “knock on doors” and is shown the techniques for demanding the basic necessities for physical survival, mainly finding a decent and feasible job. The potential criminal can be treated for his recurring health problems that are not fictitious; though many of these health problems could be a fiction of the imagination for lack of a yearly thorough general examination, caused by a deficient preventive health system to all the citizens.

It really takes a little to change the supporting environmental/social conditions to deflect a crime in the planning stage.  Removing one of the numerous elements or tools in the supporting network can deviate a criminal act.  Benevolent or charitable support groups can play the catalyst for behavioral change.  A community in a town or district can shoulder many responsibilities when decently funded for social activities.

It really takes a lot to “unfocus” a planned criminal act, once it gelled in specific targets and means.  They say human is forgetful and that is why he manages to survive all the traumas. The fact is, even when the far advanced “spiritual factor” has been tamed, it only takes a simple cue in this tumultuous life to re-activate a matured plan.

I might have been describing individual cases, but it easily extends to genocide of whole peoples like the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, the Lebanese, the Iraqis, the Afghanistanis, and all the people who have been subjugated to miseries and apartheid policies.  This is a reminder that the West should not be surprised for revenge activities for a long time, activities that would be labeled “terrorists”.

Police inspectors and investigators in criminal acts have mapped a coherent taxonomy for “individual crimes”. Social and human sciences lack coherent taxonomies for social crimes that reporters and media businesses need to know and learn in their coverage of their “bad news”.

It is up to the audio-visual reporters in the front line to taking seriously their jobs in order for society to be exposed to the fundamentals of criminal behaviors and the many facets and conditions of criminal activities.

Free-will Eugenic: Finally you have Choices (February 7, 2009)

Eugenic is the elimination of undesired embryos, malformed babies, unwanted babies or undesired grown ups for one reason or another.

All that parents need to know on the condition of a fetus of six weeks is a drop of blood from the mother.  The mother blood carries cells transferred from the fetus and all the necessary information can be obtained from a single cell.  A wide array of diseases of physical and cognitive natures, whether curable or incurable, can be diagnosed at six weeks of the fetus. A sample of these diseases is: sterility, mongolism (Down syndrome), Elephantine, blindness, deafness, metabolic deficiencies, epilepsy, mental retardation, cancer (ovary, breast, colon, and prostate), neurological, Alzheimer, and anxiety to name a few. Consequently, the parents are strong with the following facts:

First, would the baby be normal or not.

Second, if the baby is normal would he develop grave physical or mental illnesses in the short or long term?

Third, would the sane baby develop at his adulthood incurable illnesses such as cancer or Alzheimer?

Parents have now sound facts on the preconditions of the fetus and they can make bold choices for an abortion before the fetus is legally considered a human with all the legal and social complications.  One day, you might have to decide or be asked to contribute your opinion as a family member then answer the following questions by selecting a disease from the array that I have already mentioned:

If the fetus is surely to die immediately after birth then would you abort?

If the fetus would look physically sane but mentally retarded then would you keep him and shoulder the responsibility of caring for him throughout your life?

If the fetus would turn physically handicapped but mentally sane then what is your decision?

If the fetus would turn out sane physically and mentally for the first three years before a physical handicap develop then what is your decision?

If the fetus would turn sane physically and mentally for the first three years before a mental handicap develop then what is your decision?

If the fetus would turn sane physically and mentally for the first ten years before a mental or physical handicap develop then what is your decision?

If the fetus would turn sane physically and mentally for the first 20 years before a mental handicap develop then what is your decision?

If the fetus would turn sane physically and mentally for the first 40 years before a mental handicap develop then what is your decision?

You now have choices; failure to decide is a choice, a stupid one.

Note: If you give birth to an abnormal baby with full knowledge of the consequences then you still have to deal with the attitudes of the grown up baby when he is told the facts.  The adult might hate you forever or separate from the family or lead an introverted life or whatever.  The array of later psychological consequences is in the hundreds.
