Some will say, “I was lucky.” (Napoleon believed that some generals were just Not lucky persons)
For instance:
Jay Elliot told me he met Steve Jobs in the waiting area of a restaurant after leaving Intel for a job at a start-up. The start-up failed. Jay had no job.
Andy Grove, Intel’s president and Jay’s former boss, gave Jay this parting message, “You’re making a big mistake – Apple isn’t going anywhere.”
Jay became a V.P. at Apple and Jobs’ right hand man. Steve was twenty-five. It was just months before Apple went public.

The Sweet 16 of creating good fortune:
- Stay open. The thing you seek may not be the thing you find.
- Keep asking questions. (Intently listening for the opportunities?)
- Look for favorable circumstances. People see what they look for.
- Set direction and goals; they help you understand favorable winds.
- Adapt to favorable opportunities that aren’t perfect.
- Keep moving forward even if direction changes.
- Prepare for adversity.
- Embrace turbulence; it opens hearts and minds.
- Let go of failure.
- Talk opportunities. Talking problems elevates and validates them. The more you talk about problems the more problems you see.
- Learn from mistakes.
- Push through resistance.
- Disregard convenient activities; do what is right.
- Build a network of friends.
- Ask for advice, a lot. Seek out experts and others who share your experiences and vision.
- Express gratitude.
Bonus: Do your best where you are.
Successful leadership includes good fortune. I don’t believe in luck but good fortune isn’t always an accident.

Envy is the most sincere type of flattering another person. It involves an object that the other person has (money, status, talent…)
The object of jealousy is the behavior of a third person toward the other person.
“Potters envy potters” and “it’s okay to be envious, only the person you aspire to become”
Otherwise, envy is a waste of time and the most idiotic of emotions. Why?
Envy is relatively easy to switch off. Contrary to anger, sadness or fear.
The idea of caring that someone is making money faster than you are is one of the deadly sins.

Do I sense the ultimate feeling of jealousy in this statement?
La Fayette at the age of 19 was already exulted, loved, adored and respected by people in two continents (America and Europe), even before he returned to America and participate in the victory of Yorktown, 4 years later.
La Fayette actively got engaged in three successful critical revolutions, in America and in France.
Napoleon must have been despised by the American insurgents as he decided to sell the vast French Louisiana Territory in 1803.
The irony is that the British extended the financial funds to the Americans. The British figured out that it is better for the nascent State of America to grab the Louisiana Territory instead of leaving the French have a foothold in that continent, now that they were kicked out.
Napoleon committed the biggest mistake that changed the course of history.
The most potent weapon in long-term wars: Bread!

I am discussing the importance of bread among the “Bread eating” civilizations such as Mesopotamia, Persia, Egypt, the Greek, Romans, and the western empires.
Mind you that there are civilizations who relied on rice for daily subsistence, fish, oat or dried meat.
For example, the Mogul managed to conquer quickly the vastest of lands in history because they ate dried meat, stashed under their saddles.
The Germans ate oat raw, the same way that their horses did. This is an excellent cause to resist the Romans preemptive wars for centuries. The Romans considered these Germanic tribes as barbarous for this main reason.
For the bread eating civilizations, the empire that grew more wheat in the long-term to feed the soldiers and the people back home was set to win the war.
The term “burned land” refers to the strategic method of burning the cereal crops as the invading army advanced.
It is no surprise that the period selected by invading armies is when the cereal crops were ripe for harvest: The reasoning was that the invading army will have plenty of food to harvest for the journey.
Napoleon Bonaparte campaign against Russia ended in a tragic fashion because Russia Czar Alexander I ordered burning the cereal field ahead of the advancing French armies. For 50 days, the retreating French Grand Army was decimated due to lack of bread. The horses died for lack of oat and the soldiers relied on horse meat and their blood to survive.
It was not the cold but lack of bread that defeated Napoleon. It is reported that the French soldier felt hungry for an entire year afterward, regardless of how many times he ate per day: Hunger lingers deep in the subconscious.
Actually, many more French soldiers died from eating too quickly and too much bread as they reached safe destination.
In the US civil war, Lincoln won the war because the Northern States grew wheat in abundance and the South persisted on growing cotton, a harvest they could no longer export or eat. The southern army was defeated for lack of bread in the last year of the war.
The north welcomed more immigrants from Europe and distributed vast land to them to grow wheat. And the women were used to plant the field, while the women in the south were helpless in these important tasks.
The largest northern center for baking bread in Alexandra was run by experts who studied the French treatise on processing flour and baking bread. “Whatever this war reserves for us, our silos are filled with wheat grains”
In contrast, the daily Savannah Republic of Georgia published: “It is the ultimate in absurdity that our planters persist in growing cotton. Without bread, the soldiers will desert the battlefield and the people will die of hunger. Grow corn!” The bushel of wheat cost $120 in 1863 in the southern States.
Cotton export represented two third of the wealth in the USA before the civil war, and only 3% of the cotton were processed for lack of industry in the south.
When Alexander of Macedonia landed on the shores of Turkey with a 30,000 strong-army, a Greek general, at the sold of Persia and governor of the province, suggested the war tactic of burning the land as Alexander advanced. Persia King was sure of defeating the Greek army and declined this idea.
It was the Phoenicia City-State Tyre that warned Alexander of the Persian trap in Isos, and the Greek army circumvented the trap by marching at night. Tyre meant to weaken Persia hold on its economy, and it never crossed its mind that Alexander will destroy Tyre after 7 months of siege.
The armies of Napoleon were fed the best bread in Europe, thanks to Parmentier who supervised the milling and baking processes of the wheat.
Napoleon focused on the industry (the generator of wealth) and neglected agriculture: He imported wheat and cereal from Russia and Ukraine at cheaper prices than at home. In 1805, the war resumed against England and the combined forces of Prussia and Russia. The sea was blocked for import and Russia denied wheat and cereals to the French. England even purchased wheat from Egypt Muhammad Ali at premium prices in order to prevent the French from importing any wheat.
In 1813, Napoleon ordered the distribution of 2 million dish of soup daily for 5 months, until the next harvest of cereals. The soup was constituted of leftover bread, bones and vegetable of the season. The English mocked Napoleon saying “The French are reduced to eat dirt and bones”
Note 1: Part of the stories were extracted from “History of bread in the last 6,000 years” by Heinrich Eduard Jacob, published in 1954.
Note 2: Ants harvest many kinds of grains, but saw only one kind of seminiferous “Herbacee Aristida” or “ant’s rice”, performing mono-culture for survival. This grain germinates during the rainy seasons and gives two harvests.
Note 3: Before new techniques for milling wheat using metallic cylinders and powered by steam engines, the bread eating civilization suffered from bad teeth, particularly the molars: milling with stones left residue of abrasive particles of stones in the flour..
Note 4: In 1830, a certain Muller (miller) conceived of cylinders powered by steam engine of Watt and Evans to mill the grain. The manufacture consisted of 5 stories of cylinders. Engineer Jacob Sulzberger improved on the technique. Stefan Szechenyi from Hungary hired engineers from Switzerland to install a modern mill, and Hungary became the bread basket of Austria and Vienna for many decades.
In 1873, the US got interested in this mill during the Universal Exposition in Vienna. By 1879, governor Washburn hired engineers from Hungary, and the US became the world bread basket, and going on till now.

In context:
President Bashar Assad of Syria is the second son of Hafez. The eldest son of the dictator Hafez, Bassel, died of supposedly a car accident, driving his fast Porsche. The youngest brother of Bashar died of cancer.
Hafez Assad ruled as a dictator for 30 years from 1971 to 2000.
During Hafez Assad, Syria had to contend with much more powerful enemies on its borders.
1. Saddam Hussein of Iraq was the prime nemesis to Hafez because they led the same party Al Baath in two adjacent States, and Iraq was far richer, more populous and its military hardware was diversified, including French weapons.
2. Israel still occupied the Golan Heights, and a third of Lebanon territory.
3. Turkey was not engaged in the Middle-East problems: Turkey of the Moslem Brotherhood will come to power in 2002 and has been in power for an entire decade…
4, Iran Islamic Republic was entirely focused on the long protracted war with Iraq (8 years of brutal and all-out terror).
5. Hezbollah in Lebanon was in its infancy (created in 1983).
6. Oil was not yet produced in Syria, and Syria relied completely on the Soviet Union for armement…
During Bashar, Iraq was totally impotent of doing much harm to its neighboring State because of the No-Fly-Zone and international embargo… The US invaded Iraq in 2003 , and Saddam was “ousted” and then hanged.
Israel still occupies the Golan Heights, but had to withdraw all its troops from Lebanon without any preconditions.
Turkey is getting engaged in the Middle East region and lately has been virulent and supporting the insurgents (sort of recalling its former Ottoman Empire status…)
Iran is more powerful than ever, more stable from within, and acquiring strategic interests in the region.
Hezbollah has grown and developed as a mighty structured and well-trained military machine.
Syria troops occupying Lebanon as a de facto mandated power withdrew in 2005 after the assassination of Rafik Hariri PM.
Bashar inherited a Syria with established institutions, an oil producing country, weaker States on its borders, and firmer control on many levers for negotiating better deals…
Hafez Al Assad had great patience:
1. He would never engage in any operation that might get foreign superpowers concerned before securing total support of the winning party of the moment in the region. For example, Hafez knew that there existed a Red Line between the US and the Soviet Union in the Middle-East. Russia was not to expand beyond Turkey and Iran, these two States were to be within US sphere of influence, including Syria, Iraq… Consequently, any operation that would anger the US in the Middle-East had to be negotiated at length, whatever time it took to reach an agreement…
2. Hafez made it a point of honor to “deliver” on any promise or agreement. Thus, unless Hafez secured internal cohesion and alliance to his agreement, he would refrain from any promises that he might not be able to demonstrate his power to deliver…
This reminds me of the story of Tsar Paul I of Russia when Napoleon was only First Consul of Revolutionary France. It was not conceivable at the time for absolute monarchs to negotiate with a common person, even if he grabbed power. Paul I wrote to Napoleon: “I am ready to deal with you: You are a person who demonstrated he can deliver on agreements…”
This position angered the British Empire and they made sure for Tsar Paul I to be assassinated…
What follows are examples of how Hafez Assad operated to achieve his goals:
1. In 1970, King Hussein of Jordan was militarily annihilating the Palestinian resistance movement in Jordan: Over 70% of the Jordanians have origin in Palestine. The Syrian defense minister dispatched tanks toward Jordan to pressure Hussein in stopping the carnage. Israel sent a couple of jets to over fly the frenzied speeding Syrian tanks.
Hafez was the chief of the air force at the time and got the message right: He refrained from engaging the Syrian air-force or to give aerial support to the tanks. The advancing tanks stopped and returned… What was the price?
1. Hafez received “foreign” support when he waged a successful military coup in 1971.
2. The PLO was cornered to deal directly with Hafez who nibbled on the Palestinian Organization to get full hold on its internal decisions… The civil war in Lebanon was a tag of war on how much the PLO can secure self-autonomy from direct Syria interventions
In September 1973, The small Syrian army of barely 100,000 soldiers in total managed to recaptured the Golan Heights, only to retreat from the conquered part after the US established the largest airlift in its history to supply Israel with all the military hardware, satellite intelligence, and even pilots…
In 1981, Syria Moslem Brotherhood, mostly concentrated in Homs, was very virulent and had been attacking Syria institutions and targeting Hafez Assad elite people for a couple of years now. Hafez was very patient and trying to negotiate a deal with the Brotherhood. Why?
Sadat of Egypt had rallied Egypt Brotherhood around him and Hafez was dissatisfied with Sadat unilateral peace with Israel… but Syria Moslem Brotherhood kept backing Sadat of Egypt and giving serious trouble to Hafez…
Hafez negotiated with the US at length and receive the green light to put down the Brotherhood uprising. The action was irreversible, brutal, unconditional…and thousands of Brotherhood members and supporters were persecuted for years. Hundreds in jails (mainly in Palmira , Tadmor) were executed on a weekly basis…
And the invasion of Lebanon, starting in 1976, at the instigation of the Christian leaders as the PLO and Lebanese left opposition alliance advanced into the “Christian” region…Hafez waited until the PLO got heavily engaged in Lebanon’s morass…
And the support of Desert Storm and sending a contingent to fight alongside the US troops as Saddam’s troops invaded Kuwait. And what was the price in return? A mandated power over Lebanon that lasted 15 years til 2005…
And what of his second son Bashar Assad who replaced Hafez in 2000?
The eldest son, Bassel, had died from a car accident, driving a fast car. He was an extrovert person and was liked among the military…
And Bashar, studying ophthalmology (eye doctor for corrective lenses…) was summoned from England to return and get initiated and educated to the labyrinth of power…
Hafez had cancer for many years (since 1983?) and was being treated in Russia, and his days were counted and he was accelerating the position of responsibilities assigned to Bashar… But Bashar is an introvert…
Bashar public speeches are a pain in the ass… He cannot differentiate between political speeches and official lecturing on what is rational, logical, and should be done (logically and rationally). I had watched many Arab leaders snoozing during Bashar’s lengthy speeches…
Syria “Constitution” was modified in order to permit young Basher (33 instead of 40 in age) to become President in 2000.
In that year, Israel was forced to withdraw unilaterally from south Lebanon, and Bashar was barely in power and trying to affirm his hold, and missed a golden opportunity to withdraw his troops from Lebanon…
Those leaders who hate Bashar or Syria, blame him for failing to deliver on agreements and promises….
Mind you that time had changed: Bush Jr invaded Iraq and didn’t ask for Bashar’s input on the decision.
Bashar was delivered ultimatum to fully side with the US forces… and to outdo the US capabilities in preventing infiltrated Iraqi nationalists from entering Iraq and engaging the US occupation troops….
And Saudi Arabia was not pleased with Bashar blocking any Wahhabi sect doctrine and activities to overwhelm the Syrians with free Wahhabi tailor-made Korans, and appointing Wahhabi sheikhs to Mosques…
And Turkey Moslem Brotherhood in power wanted to believe that opening up to Syria will ultimately encourage Bashar to extend a hand to the Syria Moslem Brotherhood and include them in the government and institutions… Mind you that Turkey Moslem Brotherhood have been in power for a decade…
Time has changed.
Bashar had to juggle with Iran strategic interests in the region: Iran during Bashar is not the same Iran during Hafez, trying to defend itself from Saddam invasion of its lands and waging a war that lasted 8 years…
Time has changed. Bashar has no longer troops in Lebanon in order to find himself in any solid position to “deliver” on agreements…
Time has changed. Bashar has reorganized the army and expanded it in order to confront eventual Israeli preemptive wars with the total support of the US. The Syrian army is no longer a force to maintain Hafez in power, but to safeguard Syria from demanding foreign and regional powers…
Time has changed: Syria is currently floating on gas, the largest reserve in the world, and every potential country wants to have a piece of the pie and laying pipeline through Syria…
And Syria was engulfed in a “civil war” two years after the Arab Spring in 2011.
And Syria infrastructure are disturbed and its main cities (Aleppo and Homs…) are in ruin…
And the Syrians are fleeing in droves to Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan (over one million refugees are relying on the UN to survive in make-shift tents…) as is the case of the Palestinians when they were forced to leave their towns and villages in 1948 and in 1967…
Is Hafez Assad a stateman, a leader, both or neither?

Hafez was ruthless, and he established a dynasty. He gave Syria 3 decades of relative stability and continuity. He invested in the infrastructure of remote regions, spread public schools and health care. Hafez demonstrated the saying that:
“If war against Israel is tenuous without Egypt, a comprehensive peace cannot be reached without Syria…”
Hafez was considered a key player by all regional powers in Middle-East dynamics and his opinion was taken seriously…
Hafez initiated two decades of terror against the Syrian Moslem Brotherhood members and tortured and detained for extended prison terms to their family members and “potential” opponents.
Bashar started a young president and did all the mistakes a young leader can do, and failed to grab the many opportunities opened to him.
He started arrogant, coy, and behaved as a son spoon-fed in silver utensils. Most probably, he has no patience for other people opinions and love to listen to his own talks, and tends to see the world more on the black and white aspect…
The current problems in Syria are the last opportunity to salvage his reign: Either he lose or prevails over the new wave of Moslem Brotherhood cultist dictatorship sweeping in the Middle-East.
If Bashar vanquishes, on the rubble of Syria, he will be remembered as the main leader who saved this region from this monster storm that is in total cohort with the US strategic plan for the Greater Middle East domination.

Toussaint Louverture (1743-1803) revolted against the French troops in the island of Haiti/Dominican and sent Napoleon a respectful letter in 1801 declaring a new Constitution to Haiti and the wish to stay part of French protectorate. The constitution stated that first, “there cannot exist slaves on the territory of Haiti”; two, “slavery is abolished and all men, regardless of color of skin, are born, live, and die free men”; third, “Any man is admissible to all kinds of jobs and employment”; and fourth, “The constitution guarantees liberty and security to all citizens”.
Napoleon responded to the letter by dispatching an expeditionary force. Toussaint was made prisoner and died in France. In 1802, a lieutenant to Toussaint, Jean-Jacque Dessalines defeated the French troops in “La Verriere” and was appointed Emperor to the Haiti Empire. The new constitution of 1805 stated that first, “The people living in the island decided to live in a free State, sovereign, and independent of any foreign powers”; two, “Slavery is abolished and no white individual will be permitted to own properties as master”; and third, “Every citizen will be called Black regardless of the color of his skin and will enjoy the same equal citizenship rights”. That was the first time that Negro or “negritude” was advanced as a culture.
In 1801, local militants in Guadeloupe pressured the French General Lacross to return to France because he discriminated against colored officers in the army. Louis Delgres (1766-1802) led an insurrection in the island of Guadeloupe but refrained to go on the offensive to keep peace with France. The declaration of emancipation stated:
“Citizens of Guadeloupe; we are revolting as one people regardless of color of our skin. Resistance to oppression is a natural right. Even divinity cannot be offended that we are defending a rightful cause: justice and humanity to all. We will refrain to soil our cause by crimes. Our forces are to defend your life, properties, and children by all means. And you, posterity! Accord us a tear to our miseries and we will die satisfied”
Again, Napoleon sent an expeditionary force in 1802. Delgres and his 300 militants opted to blow themselves in the town of Matouba rather than fighting a hopeless outnumbered army. Napoleon re-instituted slavery that the French Revolution had abolished.
Nelson Mandela was sent to prison in 1955 for contributing to the “Freedom Chart” that stated in an abridged form:
All national groups and races will enjoy equal rights in the State’s organs, courts, and in school. Land will be distributed to who cultivates it regardless of race restrictions. Laws will guarantee to all rights to speak, organize, publish, preach, pray, and educate children. Workers will be free to create syndicates, elect their representatives, and negotiate salary with employers. All citizens will enjoy liberty to settle anywhere they choose to. Vacant apartments will be at the disposition of the needy. Man and woman will be granted equal rights to vote and be candidate to any function or post.

The “Pendulum of Foucault” by Umberto Eco; part two
The book query three authors specializing in the occult or diabolic manuscripts that were written and published in Europe in the last 600 years after the persecution of the Templar Knights.
The authors tried to put together the many pieces of the puzzle that were gleamed from ancient manuscripts in order to construct a rational and logical story of Europe history events.
The Templar Knights were persecuted around 1344 by the French monarch Philip Le Bel and the pope of Rome: Templar Knights over extended their power base in acquiring vast lands and lending money to monarchs and princes and had become the most influential secret organization in Europe. The “initiates” or members were willing to die rather than divulge secrets.
The story starts from a cryptic message that it was attributed to the Templar Knights and found in the town of Provins in south-west France near the Cathar sect region. The various interpretations led to the belief that the fleeing Knights took refuge in the town of Tomar in Portugal and devised a plan to be executed for a period of 600 years.
Every 120 years, the headquarters of the “Invisible 36 Superiors” would be relocated to six different places so that each headquarters would relinquish the secret to the next headquarters.
Apparently, there are two secrets.
The initial secret was of religious nature and it became a cover up to the second secret for dominating the world. The initial cult was based on the premises that either Jesus was not crucified and was whisked to Marseille in France and his descended initiated the Merovingian French monarchic dynasty or that Jesus died but Marie Magdalena was impregnated by Jesus and was whisked away to start a new dynasty.
The other more enduring secret says that earth underground is traversed by currents that can be controlled to spread havoc on earth crust if only the center or “Umbilicus” of the current could be determined; the center could be discovered if the entire pieces of a particular world cartographical chart can be put together and the sun ray hitting the right location on June 23 or Saint John Day at the beginning of earth summer solstice.
A quick summary of part one might be needed. The plan would move from Tomar in 1344 to Scotland in 1464, then to Paris in 1584 at Saint Martin des Champs, then to Germany in 1704 at Marienburg near Dantzig, then to Bulgaria in 1824, and finally to Jerusalem (The Rock) in 1944.
The headquarters was transferred to Scotland but the next transfer to Paris didn’t take place and problems started. Every sub-cult wanted to put the pieces together all by itself since serious discontinuity of the pieces of the plan to rule the world was ruined.
One rumor is that the Jewish Diaspora got wind that the Christians have an important secret and got into their own investigative whirlwind and the Kabbala cult was expanded. The ghettos were targeted for information because the abbot Pic de la Mirandolla referred in one of his speeches that Hebrew is the language to learn in order to decipher the cryptic messages using the Talmud. The trend became to learn Hebrew and applying all kinds of combinational cryptology on the Talmud.
In fact, the Templar Knights had no connections with the Jewish religion; they had no Jewish sources or learned Hebrew. The Free Masons inherited their cult from the Templar and added this myth related to Hiram and the Temple of Jerusalem.
Another rumor was that the Jesuits organization of Ignacio de Loyola was attuned to these secrets and working to put together the puzzle; the Jesuits were behind switching from the Julian to the Georgian calendar? Anyway, France’s Grand Master Guillaume Postel died in 1581 and a Jesuit abbot confessed him.
Francis Bacon traveled to Prussia to connect with the Grand Master in Marienburg and he instituted many Templar Knights cults around Europe to gather information.
Most of the scholars in Europe were initiates in one or more of these cults such as Leonardo da Vinci, Newton, Voltaire, Condorcet, Diderot, d’Alembert, Lavoisier, Goethe, Mirabeau, Jules Verne, Francis Bacon, and on.
Alexander Dumas wrote “Joseph Balsamo”, representing a Grand Master of Templar Knights; most of the heroes of Jules Verne are permutations on Cultists names such as “John Garral” in reference to the Graal or Robur le Conquerent and many of his novels are located underground and in the bowel of earth. The frenzied endeavors to constructing vast underground tunnels, sewer systems, and metro lines in most European Capitals were decided and initiated by cultist sects; Salomon de Caus, one of the initiates, started the sewer system in Paris around 1665 at the demand of Colbert; Paris ended up with 23 kilometers of underground system.
Napoleon summoned the Jews in Europe to a conclave in 1806; the name of the convention was “Grand Sanhedrin”. Apparently, Napoleon needed three pieces of the puzzle; since Napoleon failed to invade England then he wanted the last piece of the puzzle that he judged would be in the hands of the Jewish cults, the hierosolymitaine supposed to be waiting in Jerusalem (don’t ask me what is this sect). The piece of puzzle, before the last, was supposed in the hands of the Paulician sect settled in Russia.
Who are the Paulicians? The sect is one of the hundreds of “heretic” Christian sects according to the Orthodox Byzantium Church. The Paulician refuses the Ancient Testament, the sacraments, despises the cross, and does not honor the Virgin Mary: she was just a fast conduit to Christ already made in heaven. The sect became widespread and engaged in many wars along side the Byzantium Empire; it reached the Euphrates River in Syria and established communities in the Arabic Peninsula. Emperor Basil of Byzantium ended up persecuting the Paulician sect that fled to Slavic lands.
Now, the Orthodox Synod in Moscow lambasted Napoleon as trying to establish the antichrist reign and rule the world. Napoleon would in 1812 invade Russia to connect with the Paulician branch of the Templar Knights and fail in his endeavor.
Baron von Brunswick convened all the European Templar branches to reaching a consensus: the cultists met and the meeting failed.
The secret service of Tsar Nicholas II, the Okhrana, disseminated protocols in ancient manuscripts and labeled it “Protocols of the Wises of Sion” and the Jews were persecuted in order to get a piece of the puzzle.
Hitler also wanted a piece of the pie. He tried to invade England and Russia for the same reasons. Hitler was very meticulous in killing as many Jews as possible, in a well oiled process, in order to discover the secret of the hierosolymitaine branch.

The Templar Knights were owed by this sect and valued those fearless initiates and connect with Al Sabbah sect and learned their underground current secret, their organization, and the techniques for training suicidal members.
Al Sabbah would kidnap select young men, drug them, and then move them to the fort. The young man would wake up and be feasted for many weeks with best food, women, hashish, and everything that might give the man the impression of transplanted in heaven. Then, when time is ripe, the young man would be drugged again and relocated outside the fort Alamut with instructions. The move would be to kill an enemy at very close range and then commit suicide (feddayins) if not killed on the spot. Sultan Salah El Din came very close to be assassinated twice and he decided to desist persecuting this sect.
The sect of Al Sabbah is a variant of the Shiaa Islamic schism: they believe that Ali, the son-in-law of Prophet Mohammad, is also a prophet as are all his descendents; the last prophet is to unveil his existence at the end of time. This sect is one of the Ismailia sects that the Fatimid dynasty in Egypt disseminated. The Druze sect in Lebanon is a variant of Ismailia. Actually, one of the misinterpretations in transcribing manuscripts was confounding Ismaili with Israeli.

Have you heard of cults or occult organizations or metaphysical sects?
For example, Templar knights, Hospitr occult oalier Knights, Teutonic Knights, Free masons, Rose-cross, Ismailia, Druze, Druids, and hundreds of cults from all kinds of religious denominations that mushroomed in the last decades?
In general, the occult sects inherit their principles from one another and then perform selections among the propositions to build distinct belief systems.
The hierarchical organizations are basically the same with minor modifications as to number of “grades” or levels.
The initiation ceremonies or ordinations do not differ much because “what works does not have to be broken”, especially, since new sects are founded by already initiated members who defected and are used to already tried and well oiled routines.
Men wear variations in exotic attires and symbols; women invariably wear transparent long white tunics and end up naked as the ceremony unfolds. The whole spectrum of symbols, in shapes and numbers, is generated from the body structure, penis, women protuberances, the cavern of vagina, and blood.

The story starts from a cryptic message that it was attributed to the Templar Knights found in the town of Provins in south-west France near the Cathar sect region. The various interpretations led to the belief that the fleeing Knights took refuge in the town of Tomar in Portugal and devised a plan to be executed for a period of 600 years.
Every 120 years, the headquarters of the “Invisible Superiors” would be relocated to six different places so that each headquarters would relinquish the secret to the next headquarters.
Apparently, there are two secrets:
The initial secret was of religious nature and it became a cover up to the second secret for dominating the world.
The initial cult was based on the premises that either Jesus was not crucified and was whisked to Marseilles in France and his descended initiated the Merovingian French monarchic dynasty or that Jesus died but Marie Magdalena was impregnated by Jesus and was whisked away to start a new dynasty.
The other more enduring secret is presumably that earth underground is traversed by currents that can be controlled to spread havoc on earth crust if only the center or Umbilicus of the current could be determined; the center could be discovered if the entire pieces of a particular world cartographic chart can be put together and the sun ray hitting the right location on June 23 or Saint John Day at the beginning of earth summer solstice.
Thus, what was accepted as given was that the plan would move from Tomar in 1344 to Scotland in 1464 (during Roger de Bruce reign; see Braveheart of Mel Gibson), then to Paris in 1584 at Saint Martin des Champs, then to Germany in 1704 at Marienburg near Dantzig, then to Bulgaria in 1824, and finally to Jerusalem in 1944.
The headquarters was transferred to Scotland but the next transfer to Paris didn’t take place and problems started. Every sub-cult wanted to put the pieces together all by itself since serious discontinuity of the plan to rule the world was ruined. Jon Dee, the astrologer of Elizabeth I, was the Grand Master of Templar Knights in England and then Francis Bacon succeeded him by poisoning Dee.
It happened that the Julian calendar was replaced by the Gregorian calendar in 1582 by abolishing 10 days from October 5 to 14. Thus, the meeting on June 23 might not have taken place because the English arrived on June 13.
Rumors said that Jon Dee expressly didn’t show up simply because he wanted the secret to himself, now and then, and that he could discover it. Dee set up a subterfuge of sending maritime expeditions to circumvent earth in order to gather most of the cartographies of the world available at the time.
One rumor is that the Jewish Diaspora got wind that the Christians have an important secret and got into their own investigative whirlwind. The ghettos were targeted for information because the abbot Pic de la Mirandolla referred that Hebrew is the language to learn in order to decipher the cryptic messages using the Talmud.
Abbot Mirandolla had ruled Florence for four years around 1450 and encouraged the citizens to initiate monster bonfires each year to burn luxury items, luxury furniture and clothes, and masterpieces in paintings. The trend became to learn Hebrew and applying all kinds of combinational cryptology on the Talmud.
In fact, the Jesuits of Ignacio de Loyola invented a combinatorial chart that preceded Babbage mechanical idea to read between the lines.
Another rumor was that the Jesuits organization was attuned to these secrets and working to put together the puzzle; the Jesuits were behind switching to the Georgian calendar?
Anyway, France’s Grand Master Guillaume Postel died in 1581 and a Jesuit abbot confessed him. Francis Bacon traveled to Prussia to connect with the Grand Master in Marienburg and he instituted many Templar Knights cults around Europe to gather information.
Europe’s wars (such as the 30 years war, Napoleon, and Hitler wars) were attributed to cultist mentality running around for the secret to dominate the world.

The optimist Biosphere/Earth has its own stabilizing mechanism; it is indifferent to power-avid pessimist man. This unattached earth/biosphere mechanism may burn, suffocate, or drown man and it would not even notice or care for its existence.
Through the ages earth/biosphere underwent changes and man either thrived and developed or died consequent to the environmental changes. All the time, man got curious about his environment and wanted to understand and then uncover the mysteries of that power surrounding him and controlling his life cycle. By the bye, man formulated general laws of nature; then, before he could fathom a tiny portion of the complex mysteries and the multiple interactions among the sparse and conditioned laws this impatient and anxious man endeavored to modify and transform nature to his own wants and restricted interests.
Man wants to alter earth and the biosphere with the tacit understanding that he will not be affected. Man keeps forgetting, intentionally, that he is what he is because of earth and biosphere. Man can alter earth and biosphere; biosphere will, imperturbably, react at its own pace; the offspring of today are the monsters of tomorrow; if the monster is permitted to exist at all.
The Western “modern” mind insisted that “the genesis of man (species and child development) is a process of primarily interacting with things; human interactions are a secondary and not a significant factor”. In fact, most early scientist and researchers lived in their islands of palaces or laboratories with little contact with people. They were intent on mastering their material environment. Ayn Rand’s writings incarnated the mentality of the individual attribute of spirit and intelligence. She wrote: “The spirit is an individual attribute. Collective brain does not exist. Man living in relation to others has no reality.” Ayn Rand was expressing the prevalent pre-supposition at the turn of the century and she was formulating their radical consequences.
Jules Verne stories of individualistic heroes and his successors of visionaries, explorers, adventurers, exploiters, and colonial expansionists refused to admit limitations to their intelligence and undertaking power. They had grand “destiny” to impose and prove: man is born to reign and dominate and not to complain. Something broke then we fix it. Something blocked expansion then we erased it: there are always solutions to difficulties. There are no inherent problems to the enterprising man; as Napoleon said “Impossible is not in my vocabulary”.
Jules Verne never missed a good shooting spree story at savages; in “Five weeks in balloon” they are shooting at the African negros from the top of a balloon; in “The children of captain Grant” they are shooting at will on Maoris in New Guinea from the top of rocky hills; in “The travel around the world in 80 days” they are killing the Sioux Indians from the doors of moving wagons; in “From Earth to the moon” they are annihilating the Seminole Indians; in “Mathias Sandorf” the savage Senoussis of Libya are exterminated.
Colonialism was initiated and undertaken by “democratically” elected government; thus fascism, Nazism, and communism have nothing to do with the spirit of “modernizing” the “barbaric” people. Our current modern man is typified by “Hot Air” Charles Branson; I don’t means his cross Atlantic, Pacific, or around the world balloons and airliners but gases emanating from his ass hole. The Western heroes are children who do not want to be rebuffed from the game: the entire planet is their game land. “When we were children, we were told not to feel afraid or cry: it was shameful. It was a time, and still is pretty much, when growing up meant to vanquish fear; to live in the delusion of the all conquering man.”
Human intelligence and know how are intrinsically community intelligence. It is the community that initiates man to things and behavior. Man needs at least 16 years of inter-communal aid and secure before he gets aware of his individuality and begins to revolt and seek a semblance of independence.
We are at a junction when man is capable of envisioning a limited earth (weight, circumference, volume, and extractable minerals) and limits to the biosphere (thickness, density, and constituents). There are intersections at several levels of consciousness. We are beginning to comprehend the limitations of technology to containing the power of nature such as tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanoes, and changing climates; the catastrophic consequences of mastering nuclear energy (Chernobyl is a striking example); the long term problems of gigantic projects such as deviating rivers, and building monster dams. We realize that our survival is intrinsically linked to the biosphere. It is a junction of the meeting of man’s brain with the limits of biosphere and our recognition that biosphere is much more complex and that it has indeed engendered our kind of intelligence.
We are harassed with the dictum “Science is neutral; experiments are unbiased”. One of the urgent tasks of the United Nations is to investigate how science and research are financed or funded. Everything has a political direction and I contend that sciences, research, and technologies are primarily driven by deep pocket political interest groups. We can no longer keep fighting those biased and politically oriented “research” results instead of focusing on the reality of earth/biosphere degradations.

Did you Day Dream a Utopian Project? (May 19, 2009)
Have you day dreamt of a utopian project? I have so many times day dreamt of projects that were to be ideal in profitability, organization, equitability, fairness, encouraging and promoting individual creativities, and leaving plenty of free time for individual accomplishment and continuing education. There are moments in any one of these projects where the more utopian you strive for the more variables you have to contend with. Every detail generates its down set of variability and quickly the interactions are too many for the mind to coordinate and analyze. Suddenly, you end it as abruptly as in happy movies. Yes, it is complicated but everybody should be living happily ever after.
Then you are carried by curiosity: you want to take the dreamt up project further to its ultimate glory. The more you resolve complicated interactions among people the more your solutions revert to totalitarian solutions and the more your answers smack of a one party regime reactions to diversities. Then I realize that, fundamentally, I am not better than any dictator who managed to amass enough power to exercise coercions at will. Utopias are dangerous exercises of the mind and they sting potently the trust in our potentials to fairness and equitability. The only utility to dreaming up utopia is to vent up the bottled up anger of helplessness to act and change. Utopias are far more dangerous when a restricted and select caste of elites assemble to apply and enforce their sick view of an ideal society. Utopias are not the solution and never will improve human conditions. Read any samples of Utopias from Plato, to Tomas Moore, and to the Zionist ideology and you will realize that the end product is a subdivision of society by caste systems where people rule and the lower strata produce and serve; the end product is a huge set of rules and regulations that can put to shame the gigantic daily constraints of the Jewish Pharisee sect.
Study the Utopias of those who managed to horde power from Napoleon, to Bismarck, to Hitler, to Mussolini, to Lenin, to Stalin, to Mao Tse Tong, and finally to Bush/Cheney and the end product was destruction, utter humiliation of the people, hate crimes, and genocides.
There are other kinds of utopias. You have those forecasting the future, fifty years from now, in all sorts of topics such as political systems, emergence of new superpowers, technological breakthrough, social conditions, trends of how fast people will die of famine, and the increase in social divides among the wealthy and the dregs. Sure, those forecasters inevitably claim that they are analyzing current trends if all conditions remain controlled, though they have no idea what are those conditions and how they are controlled. Forecasting the future is another way of thinking aloud individual utopia because no one is forecasting without strong biases as to his present mind set.
So far, the only valid forecasting time line is of six months; it is adopted by the analysts of market and fashion trends of the adapters in the age category of 20 to 30 years. There is no doubt in my mind that promotional tactics biase people in believing that they are setting the trend by surfing the internet and disseminating their interests; but that how democracy should be at work. Democratic systems should expose programs and disseminate them and then evaluate what people selected after a period of six months of diffusion among the active population.
