I am addressing the people in the northern hemisphere as I closed shops between December 15 to March 5:  It is winter and pretty cold.  You are entitled to close shop at different periods, especially in the southern hemisphere, or during the extreme hot season when mosquitos and flies drive you crazy and electrical energy is scarce or too expensive to make a profit having air condition on.

We don’t have to emulate or imitate the animal kingdoms in this period of the year:  What we want is NOT to subjugate mankind to this insane forced work habit during crazy climatic periods.

Why do you have to commute for hours to your workplace and suffer traffic accidents, catch the flu from employees and workers, swine flu, bird flu, fish flu?  Why do we have to drive on slippery roads, dirty highways, and take several trains and buses for several hours trips, in this harsh climate, just to put in 8 hours of work, everyday, somewhere away from home.  Why bike in dangerous climatic conditions?  Since when have we become so crazy?  Free men, even slaves would have rebelled and knocked down the house!

Work places used to be at walking distance and people could go home and have lunch and see their children.  Why schools have to start at 7 am in the winter season?  Are children to be penalized because teachers and parents have to go to work early?

I closed shop from December 15 to march 5: I cannot afford to locate employees at walking distance to the workplace.  Employees will receive full payment of the entire month on December 15 for the Christmas extra expenses, 75% on January and 50% on February.  Bonuses will be paid on first of April, on April’s Fool if the employees return to work on March 5.

Employees may consider that period as a sabbatical gesture to continue their education, find another more satisfying job, read a lot, write, publish, get down on house chores, helping raising the family and not having this stupid reason “I am off to work, honey”.  Any problem cutting down on luxury expenses for a couple of months to enjoy home life-style?

I have no enterprise; I am asking you to imagine that you have an ice cream factory.  Would you run this factory in cold winter season where people don’t have the means to warm up and have to cut down trees to cooking their daily meal?

Isn’t the southern hemisphere sustaining the northern hemisphere during the cold season?  Isn’t this behavior what mankind cooperation is all about?  Isn’t a good sustainable investment to promote world cooperation during harsher season and saving on redundant energy waste and effectively cutting down health cost and people well-being?

We don’t have to emulate or imitate the animal kingdoms but we do learn their behaviors:  Accumulating fat and protein for the bad season.  Let’s store food for the bad seasons and let people in every hemisphere find jobs and export what is necessary for each season.

A Paradigm Shift for Political and Human Development

So far, the development of mankind was focused on using Man in order to create machines, and lately, thinking machines, and then self-autonomous machines.  I have the feeling that, for about a decade ago, we have reached the crest of the curve that permits machines to better our lives.  Life has stopped to improve based on the previous paradigm; even our generation is a stranger to the fast paced automated machine world, of mostly a virtual world.

We need a political paradigm shift that reuses the invented machines to creating responsible mankind; a Man who is in total control of machines and thinking machines.  It is not humanly acceptable to allowing fast trains to be navigated automatically without human operators; though they were successfully implemented.  Airplanes could also be navigated autonomously; and I am pretty sure, for a drastic price cut, customers would valiantly board them.

All these automation are designed to save expenses for training responsible operators and paying them wages under the false guise of reducing errors and accidents. We know that most of these inventions were financed by the military for acquiring supreme power and not for the betterment of mankind. We are no longer better off and the environment is screaming, howling, battering our seashores, burning continents and burying whole cities.

The goal of this paradigm shift in politics is to reintegrate Man in the work cycle, create jobs for responsible people to control, monitor and design machines for the purpose of reinserting man in the life cycle, in the design cycle and in the development cycle. The old concept of effective rate on return of increase in production with minimal financial cost is decimating the availability of jobs opportunities and creating two distinct worlds:  a virtual so-called developed Northern Hemisphere and the real Southern Hemisphere still struggling to be in touch with itself, its neighbors, nature and its surroundings.

This paradigm shift in political organization is a natural extension to the fact of the existence of two distinct Worlds: one trying to recreate the wheel in social and political organization with complex democratic systems that are quickly reverting to the old oligarchic system on the whim of National Security pre-requisites; the other world is trying helplessly to ward off imported political systems that it cannot comprehend or is unable to implement.

The Northern Hemisphere has created self-administered bureaucratic institutions for political organizations that its constituents don’t comprehend, do not care to understand and barely participate in elections.  The European Union has written a voluminous Constitution that nobody cared to read and even if they cared could not finish reading it on time for the referendum dates; no wonder that it failed in fracas.

All the media coverage of the European Constitution, translation in different languages and the frantic support by the Presidents could not transfer its contents to the constituents who are already wary of these brusque movements that are not taking account of the human limitations and emotional saturation for the quick political pace being forced upon them.

The Southern Hemisphere had political organizations that its constituents understood, could control, monitor and did fully participate in electing their local and national leaders but have been pressured relentlessly to comply with political systems that they are not ready to assimilate.

This political paradigm shift will be the consequence of a world controlled by the very few and the rest relegated as walking zombies, disgruntled by their monotonous and under-valued jobs, jobs that can be snatched away anytime, anyplace for cheaper work force.  The rest of us who lost any respect for “a job well done” because deep inside us we are certain that these jobs can easily be replaced by machines no matter how educated we are.  The rest of us who feel too stupid, dumb, and worthless throughout a lifetime and yet are asked to be responsible citizens abiding by inhuman laws dictating untenable order.  The rest of us who have no self-respect to raise a responsible new generation, just scratching a living and losing touch with life essence of dignity and compassion.

We are in a world controlled by a very few, not on their intrinsic merit but on their cowardice and willingness to selling their soul for the benefit of the capitalists or the power to be.  It is no longer the struggle between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres but the battle of regaining dignity in the human spirit:  a wretched mankind is the source of all discrimination festering at a lighting speed in all communities devoid of control over their destiny.  There can be no bright future for man if control over his life is removed as a viable alternative.  Developing a responsible and compassionate man means providing jobs that are respected, valued, remunerated commensurate to his investment in energy and time for acquiring knowledge and expertise and quality time reserved to him as his due.  Mankind has to stop being viewed as a commodity as anything else in the exploitation process.

There was a time when mankind could claim: “It is always too early to rely completely on our Creator”; now even adolescents believe in fate.  That is the ravage of desperation in human spirit and lack of correct direction.

It is a fact: Major devastating solar winds in 2012; (Jan. 1st, 2010)

A nasty solar eruption (winds) is predicted on September 22, 2012 at midnight. Scientists at NASA published a report warning of high volume sun flare up.  This flare up is not your run of the mill gorgeous aurora borealis in the Arctic. The sun will eject one billion tons of plasma of particles (ions and electrons) that will grill all electrical infrastructure and electrical machines in the northern hemisphere, if no precautions are programmed.

When solar winds come in contact with earth magnetic field, a major catastrophe sets in.  This solar eruption will be witnessed around the equinoxes (periods when the center of the sun faces directly the equator). Mind you that the sun is far hotter and much more active than it was a million years ago.

At the onset of the solar wind, State governments will enjoy a window of opportunity to shut down all electrical power sources and facilities.  The main decision is to prepare for the worst case scenario: the winds might last for over two weeks and potable water should be available for the duration of the eruption.  People living in high-rise buildings should be accommodated in makeshift camps for the period of the cataclysm, because potable water cannot be pumped up electrically.

In case no emergency policies are planned then, what are the effects after electrical power goes dead? Potable water is the major immediate problem, since most potable water is purified electrically and distributed electrically in urban centers. Citizens will have to survive for at least a year, before electrical infrastructure and electrical equipments are renewed and fabricated.  Urban people will try to relocate to regions enjoying clean potable water sources (which are becoming rare almost anywhere, even in Africa).

This “Sun winds” phenomenon occurred in 1859 (Carrington eruption) and lasted for 8 days; telegraph services were disrupted.  Luckily, potable water and clean water sources were intact at the time.  Thus, no transport relying on electricity in any part of it will function.  Hospital will have to replace their generators after the solar wind episode; unless tight enclosures that are magnetic field proof are constructed.  Mostly, modern health providing facilities will be at an end.  Pharmaceutical industry will stop producing vital medicines for an entire year or as generators and infrastructure are renewed.

The most worrisome problem is nuclear power plants that are cooled by water.  If cooling water is not flowing adequately by other mechanisms than electricity then what could happen? A chain meltdown around the world.

Another problem is that the main decision makers might not be credible or considered legitimate enough; thus, waiting till the onset of the flare up may cause serious political difficulties in addition to technical difficulties that may prevent many States and private providers from shutting down in a timely manner. It would be much preferable to shut down power ahead of prediction and consider the order as an emergency exercise.

What do you think technology can offer to resolve the consequences of this solar wind hazard? In the meantime, diseases will spread; rats and roaches will invade urban centers in broad day light. Time to get used to eating rats, but how to finding potable water?

Best to be prepared for worst case scenarios since sun winds can be predicted ahead of time and start thinking of alternative technologies for pumping and purifying water.
