Worse than USA Ferguson town uprising? Palestinian Kafr Kanna village intifada

Ferguson town is back in its uprising after jury of 9 whites and 3 blacks voted the policeman innocent.

Seraj Assi and Lawrence McMahon posted:

Palestinian town of Kafr Kanna isn’t Ferguson, it’s much worse

Imagine that at the peak of the Ferguson protests, President Obama — or any other American official — had issued a formal statement threatening to revoke the citizenship of African Americans who chose not to keep their mouths shut.

Israeli police shot dead a young Arab citizen in the town of Kafr Kanna in the lower Galilee this past week.

Numerous reports have suggested that the victim, Kheir Hamdan, was shot simply because he was an Arab.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seemingly conceded the same conclusion when, prior to any investigation whatsoever into the incident, he issued a statement scolding Arab youth.

In the meantime, local journalists rushed to compare Kafr Kanna to Ferguson, Missouri, invoking the shooting of African-American teenager Michael Brown as a parallel example of a racial divide.

Kafr Kanna is not Ferguson, and here is why:

1. The conflict between the Palestinian minority of Israel and the State is not truly an American-style “civil rights” struggle. Arabs in Israel cannot be classified as second-class citizens when senior Israeli officials, including Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman, continue to portray them as enemies from within, a demographic time bomb, and a fifth column population.

2. While the Palestinians in Israel experience exclusion and brutality just as African Americans do, they also face — to use a popular phrase — an existential threat.

3. The so-called Liberman Plan, named after the foreign minister, proposes transferring territory in Israel populated by Arabs to the Palestinian Authority in exchange for territory in the West Bank populated by Israeli settlers. Liberman grumbles that it makes no sense to create a Palestinian state devoid of Jews while Israel has turned into a bi-national state with over 20% Palestinians.

In other words, the Israeli foreign minister wants an Israel completely devoid of Arabs.

This week, Netanyahu echoed the Liberman Plan.

In response to the shooting and the protests it sparked, the prime minister publicly challenged Arab protestors to go and live under Palestinian rule in the West Bank and Gaza. To justify his position, he invoked what he described as their lack of loyalty to the State of Israel.

In a radical move, Netanyahu also ordered his interior minister to look into whether Israel could strip citizenship from those Arabs who dared to speak out in support of a Palestinian state.

Before Netanyahu, Liberman had already proposed loyalty tests for the Arab minority, threatening to deny citizenship to those who failed. Of course, there is no chance whatsoever that similar statements would ever be directed at Jewish citizens.

Now imagine, for comparison, that at the peak of the Ferguson protests, U.S. President Barack Obama—or any other American official—had issued a formal statement threatening to revoke the citizenship of African Americans who chose not to keep their mouths shut. There are plenty of reasons why such a scenario is unimaginable. Even at moments of great racial tension in America, nobody is going to threaten the citizenship clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

American history may be littered with both white-sponsored and black-sponsored “Back to Africa” movements, but in the year 2014, they don’t hold much sway in either the White House or Congress.

In Israel, though, these are the exact sort of measures that authorities are debating, right here and right now.

This brings us to the key difference, namely Israel’s self-definition as a “Jewish democratic state.”

Naturally, and regardless of what happened in Kafr Kanna, a state cannot be both Jewish and democratic, unless by “democracy” you mean an exclusively “Jewish democracy.” Israel’s basic laws and policies are predicated on Jewish exclusiveness and privilege.

In other words, Israel is a democracy, but it is a democracy for — if not exclusively of — its majority Jewish population. It should come as no surprise, then, that many in the Arab community view their Israeli “citizenship” as a mere political fiction.

And when the State of Israel kills its Palestinian citizens in cold blood, one is left to wonder exactly what moral mandate it has to demand their unconditional loyalty.

President Barack Obama Speech at Jerusalem Cultural Center

President Barack Obama delivered a bold message to young Israelis in Jerusalem Thursday, asking them to see the world through the eyes of their adversaries in the Middle East.

In Israel proper, Obama speech sucked up entirely to the Zionist State and never mentioned Palestine or the Palestinians, which prompted many Arab commentators to view Obama and all the US administrations as actual lackeys to the Zionist movement

Grace Wyler posted in the Business Insider on Mar. 21, 2013, at 11:31 AM “Obama Just Finished His Speech In Israel, And People Are Already Saying He Made History”

“Addressing students at the Jerusalem Cultural Center, Obama called on a new generation of Israelis to take up the peace process — including halting settlement construction — and work harder toward achieving an independent Palestine.

This key paragraph from his speech concerning the two States of Israel and Palestine:

But the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and justice must also be recognized.

Put yourself in their shoes – look at the world through their eyes. It is not fair that a Palestinian child cannot grow up in a state of her own, and lives with the presence of a foreign army that controls the movements of her parents every single day.

It is not just when settler violence against Palestinians goes unpunished.

It is not right to prevent Palestinians from farming their lands; to restrict a student’s ability to move around the West Bank; or to displace Palestinian families from their home.

Neither occupation nor expulsion is the answer. Just as Israelis built a state in their homeland, Palestinians have a right to be a free people in their own land.

The speech was remarkably blunt, particularly considering Obama’s fraught relationship with Israelis and their prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

At times, Obama even appeared to be trying to circumvent his Israeli counterpart, calling on his young audience to challenge political leaders on the peace issue.

” I can promise you this, political leaders will never take risks if the people do not push them to take some risks.”

“You must create the change that you want to see. Ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things.”

The message was extraordinarily well-received, both by the audience and veteran Israel correspondents, many of whom are calling Obama’s speech “historic.” Here’s some of the reaction:

Back to start: Latest news from Egypt, Libya, and US revolt fronts

General Tantawee of Egypt and his high-level officers in the armed forces re-established the emergency laws in Egypt in order to “secure peace and stability in Egypt“.  Why he did that?

Angry Egyptians stormed Israel Embassy and Barack Obama called to ensure security of Israel Embassy… and Tantawee responded by killing and injuring hundreds of Egyptian demonstrators! Why Tantawee did that?

Because dictator Sadat and his successor dictator Mubarak signed a “peace treaty” with terrorist Menuhin Begin without consulting with his people.  Actually, the treaty was linked to Israel withdrawing from occupied Palestinian territories in the West bank and Gaza, a clause that Israel never thought of satisfying.

Menuhin Begin was the first leader to start terrorist activities in the region during British mandate in Palestine: He blew up the King David headquarter and then followed up his terrorist activities by committing genocides in Palestinian towns and villages in order to force Palestinians to vacate their homes and end up refugees…

The Norwegian committee for Peace Prize deemed Begin as good a representative for leading peace behaviors…along with dictator Sadat.

Is something fishy in awarding Peace Prizes to convinced terrorists who never apologized for their brutality, but have been very apologetic about their sound decisions that “terrorism is good for reaching a political end results?

What Menuhin Begin did to confirm his reversal to a peaceful leader after the award?

He and Ariel Sharon preempted a war on Lebanon in 1982 and entered the Capital Beirut, they committed the horrible genocide in the Palestinian camps of Sabra and Chatila, they killed 50,000 civilians in Lebanon, they used phosphorous and cluster bombs, and occupied Lebanon for 25 years…

Guess what. There is this supposed leader of the Libya revolt, Abdul Jalil, claiming that Islam is going to be the source of laws.  He is so funny that he resumed “But our Islam is going to be a moderate Islam!”

I am glad that these revolts are not over yet.

The modern Arab activists will not wait for the next spring to sweep away those archaic and “too matured” leaders who didn’t get it yet.

The people want liberty, transparency, democratic fair elections, referendum on critical problems and ancient biased treaties, return to civic normal way of life, job opportunities, freedom of opinions, respect of human rights, working toward improving and sustaining the human development indicators as defined by the UN…

Did President Barack Obama failed to read the autobiography of GW.Bush in “Decisive moments” on the Palestinian problem?

GW. Bush wrote “The more I thought of the troubles in the Middle East, the more I was convinced that the fundamental culprit is lack of liberty in the occupied Palestinian territories. Without a recognized State, the Palestinians could not find their place in the world community; as long as the Palestinians have no say in their future, the extremist elements were going to fill the void; without legitimate leaders, democratically elected, dedicated to fighting extremist movement, peace with Israel will be compromised… I was the first US President demanding a recognized Palestinian State by the UN…

Not only Obama wants to veto the establishment of a Palestinian State, but he has been consistent in vetoing every UN resolution condemning Israel terrorist activities in the occupied Palestinian territories and the “Freedom boat” massacre against Turkish peace activists.  Obama is black, but he has proven to be the worst “apartheid” leader in the world community.  Apartheid is not defined by color: Observe Israel.

Something fishy is going around, don’t you think?

Prime Minister breaks toys; cry out frustration and anger (Lebanon)

There is this Prime Minister who refused to grow up:  He was fired last week.  In the last three days, this Prime Idiot (named Saad Hariri) vented out his anger and frustration in the streets.  His hooligans have been burning tires, garbage bins, government properties, educational institutions, media trucks. His hooligans have been throwing hand grenades, stones at the soldiers, at the media personnel covering events and the rampage; they have been closing major highways from traffic and shouting “Treason, back stabbing of the Sunni politicians, stooges to Iran and Syria; Saad is our Prophet, Saad is the only and unique legitimate Prime that his assassinated father appointed Prime for life…”

The retinue of this Prime ID, under the umbrella of a movement called Future “Mustakbal”, know that their figure-head leader is a kid who refuses to grow up; they don’t care.  As long as their Tsar Peter is happy playing with his Playstation and satisfied within his comfort-zone, then they can resume ruling  the shadow government that they constituted 5 years ago, government that trampled on the the constitution and public institutions.

When Saad is being disturbed by demonstration of hungry citizens, Saad flee to his private Jumbo Jet and orders his pilot to “go west”, to his many villas and palaces, and exotic islands in order to cool down his nerves.  When Saad is apprehensive of an election, he fetches his white potty, incrusted with precious stone, deposit his golden trove, passes the potty around for his retinue to smell his achievements and then take the stand:  He pray for the soul of his “assassinated father Rafic” and demand from Rafic to sent him more political toys to break immediately.

The Hariri clan and their Saudi descendents (Saad being the Prime One), and their party the “Mustakbal” (Future) movement, ruled Lebanon since 1992, almost with no interruption, and considered Lebanon as their background garden and the citizens as chattel meant to increase the financial hold of the Hariri oligarchy, and extending their financial and economic domination with no restriction.

The Hariri clan constituted a shadow government to bypassing the legal and legitimate government:  They think they own the Treasury, the finance ministry, all the public projects, all the foreign loans earmarked for the reconstruction of Lebanon after Israel invasion in 2006, the International Court for Lebanon…

Fact is, 65% of the Lebanese side with the “opposition movement” and are aware that the previous oligarchy is not serious in pondering on their daily needs, long awaiting reforms in the legal system, the election law, the strategic plans for resisting Israel’s frequent invasions of the territory, the obsolete education system, the archaic political and social structure, the health, economic development, taming the increase in foreign debts, enhancing the quality and quantity of potable water, the affordability and availability of electrical power, and opening work opportunities for graduates and workers…

The Lebanese citizens, and much less the foreign workers and immigrants, had no rights under any constitutions; the finance treasury was off any kinds of regulations, control, and questioning by deputies or any minister:  11 billion dollars are not accounted for in the last 4 years alone, and over 2 billion in foreign loans were spent somehow and never registered officially in the finance ministry and how they were spent…

This prime ID was appointed to form a government with over 96 deputy votes out of 128; he failed to form a government for 5 months because he needed more time to comprehend the Lebanese complex “political customs”.  He was re-appointed by only 78 votes, and for an entire year, Prime ID confirmed that his government did not achieve a single promise.

If the retinue of Prime ID still hope that their Saad is ever going to come back as PM they must be joking.  The Lebanese have got enough of breaking toys, institutional toys, Constitutional toys, industrial base toys, agricultural base toys, health institutional toys, educational institutional toys, legal system toys…  The Lebanese fired Saad for good.  Good riddance Mr. Prime ID and your ID of oligarchy.

Note: Saad Hariri was to meet with President Barack Obama in the White House.  A couple of hours before the “interview” ministers in the government summoned Saad to come back for a vote of confidence was in the process.  Saad didn’t take the summon seriously (what! I am to meet with the US President) and refused to shake his ass back on his private jet: He was fired by 11 ministers out of 20.  Maybe Obama took this maneuver as a strong signal of defiance from the Syrian regime of Bashar el Assad and had decided that he got enough with this headache of a regime. This “troubling event” is one of the main reasons for the current persistence of the US Administration of getting rid of Bashar’s regime.

The political professional: President Barack Obama

There is a qualitative difference between Obama and Bush Junior.

There is qualitative difference between Bill Clinton and Bush Senior.

The differences go beyond Democrats and Republicans or any ideological differences.

The main difference is that Obama and Clinton are professional politicians in their own rights:  they love to communicate with people and comprehend the harsh demands of people and are willing to sacrifice their comfort and peace of mind to serve the people.

They are aware of the attributes and job specifications of the professional politician.  Bill Clinton never talked of “The Evil Empires“, “evil enemies”, “evil axes”, or any evil spirits.

Obama didn’t so far mentioned any evil enemies and he will not.   Obama walked the streets for years and continued his political education and trained and practiced his political qualities and talents; Obama knows what it takes to serve the public and has the correct patience to grab the adequate moments for pressing the programs he promised to pass.

The Bushes and Ronald Reagan were selected and shouldered by their party and supported by the political professionals in their party.

The Bushes (particularly Jr.) and Reagan had no valid qualifications as people lovers; they were mostly living in secluded environment, never relinquishing their life style of comfort and sheltered attitudes.  They get very upset when foreigners disturb their quietude and put pressures on them to meet frequently with aids, congress, read reports, and be forced to make balanced decisions.  That is too much work and unsuited to their dispositions.

The Bushes and Reagan totally relied on their aids and political consultants; not only because they were limited in the mind and need all the help to comprehend the complex interactions in world problems  and those foreigners they cannot understand, but mainly because the laziness of their minds and necessary demands as professional politicians were terribly deficient: they were not people oriented and communication was a necessary evil to them.

The Bushes and Reagan relished shortcuts for resolutions and to adopting simplified models of world’s problems.  Just blurting out who to them is the evil enemy was a mechanism that set their mind at peace and resuming this “coherent” ignorance in their simplistic directions.  Their political consultants felt relieved from exposing  elaborate concepts and detailed knowledge that would upset the limited mind of their Presidents.

Bush Junior must have prayed to fail in the first presidency.  Somehow, he succeeded by a very short margin.  A genius in his team knew his weaknesses and must have whispered in his ear: “God wanted you to win.  God has a project for you.  You cannot fail God’s wishes.”

Bush Junior took seriously this infamous hint and started to believe that he is fulfilling God’s directives.  His political chaperon, Dick Cheney, was too sick physically to educated his protegee and he indeed became senile quickly to be of any value to Bush Junior.  The consultants and aids were selected to be one-sided individuals who were not professional politicians, rather half cooked academics.

The world had to lick his wounds, and the million of collateral  CIVILIAN DAMAGES HAD TO BURY THEIR DEAD.

We all agree that doing politics is a serious profession.  Not anyone is capable of assuming his mandate to serving the community: a voted in political candidate is to be at the beck of his community 24 hours a day and fielding all kinds of requests; he has no reliable methods to control his daily activities and set aside relaxation periods.

And yet, candidates to “serving the public” are not taught and trained in schools like all the other professions.

Actually, most of the students graduating from high schools and universities have a terrible bad connotation for the term “politics” or “doing politics”.

The field of political science does not train people in the social and psychological behavior of people, which are the right tools for doing politics.

Acquiring sketchy understanding of the macro politics by lumping whole nations as a single entity or whole regions as potential enemies is not the correct way for training politicians to thinking rationally and for the good of the people in the long term.

Our problems with our politicians stem from two factors:

First, most of the politicians inherit their jobs, one way or another; they realize soon that they are not up to the requirements and don’t want the hassle; and thus they delegate their responsibilities to people who were not elected in the first place.

Second, politicians don’t work for the long term success because they don’t find the time to read, reflect, and grow their inner power.

Among the very few politicians who satisfy the two criteria of proven records of capable providers and verbal intelligence only those who realize the need to strengthen their inner power through reading and reflection and actually taking short “sabbaticals” away from the media have the potentials to become leaders of people.

In “Hiroshima my love”, Marguerite Dora says:

“Human political intelligence is a hundred folds lower than scientific intelligence”   On the face of it, many would be nodding their heads in consent.

We have got to analyze political intelligence from a different perspective to appreciate that the previous statement is not correct.  When we deal with human behaviors that are:

First, in the hundreds of varieties and ever changing with time and conditions,

Second, the inability of human cognitive powers to assimilate the different interactions of even 4 factors or variables at the same time and

Third, juggling these interactions in real time and under pressure then we can grasp the far complex intelligence requirements of doing and thinking politics.

Democracy is the most difficult and intricate political system: voters have to know the detailed personal characteristics of the candidates that qualify them to be professional politicians.

Instead, voters are sidetracked by political programs that can be altered though individual characters and attitudes.  Without prior selection of politicians based on cognitive and emotional testing for mental capabilities, is tantamount to more of the same repeated errors and mistakes for the public good.

Political intelligence would then be vastly appreciated to its own merit when candidates satisfy cognitive and emotional criteria before submitting their applications to public political posts.

The vote of the people would make much more sense when people are initiated and exposed to the complexities of serving the people and offering a higher value for the term “doing politics”.

The necessary condition, but not sufficient for a politician, is to have proven that he loves to communicate with people and to field requests around the day as the main job of public server:  He learns to be pragmatic because he is listening to the demands of the people.
