Today I left the supermarket, got into my car, and cried my eyes out.
I worked hard for everything I have. Nothing was given to me. I spent years on scholarships, supported by generous benefactors so I could finish my schooling.
I went to the Lebanese university because it was the only higher education I could afford.
All of this so I could finally begin to feel comfortable… a comfortable middle class. That’s all I ever wanted.
But today, and thanks to the hyperinflation and the economic/political situation, I had to choose which cornflakes to buy for my family because I had selected two different kinds. This was the last straw.
A stranger had to step in and tell them she would add one packet to her ‘cornflakes allotment’. This is a country where people are playing hunger games over cooking oil…
So it was the kindness that threw me off.
I didn’t expect anyone to be kind. Tomorrow morning, I have to tell my son that I couldn’t get his favorite breakfast cereal… and he’s beginning to expect every disappointment.
That’s the sad part. But I managed to find an item that could make things feel a bit better: When all else fails, just add sprinkles.
PS 1. I know for a fact that some people will still vote for these idiots who have ruined our country. I’ll need a lot of sprinkles to swallow that pill. Hopefully we could still find them by then.
PS 2: One of the supermarket reps said something on the news the other day: We don’t want our shelves to become a museum, where people come in, stare at the goods, and then leave. (Kind of Not looking as supermarkets in Soviet Union…)?

Note 1: The pseudo-citizens in Lebanon have grown, generations after generations in the last century, experiencing preemptive wars by Israel, civil wars, mandated nations (including Syria and Arafat “resistance Palestinian organization” PLO).
The Lebanese lived in blood, indignation, public widespread corruptions, private exploitation with the backing of sectarian the political system, and outright highway robbery that bankrupted the State at all levels: State budget, Central Bank, private banks, financial depletion of “hard currencies”, and No sustainable economy…
The Lebanese ended up emigrating to greener pastures to all continents and a few to support the families who remained behind. Actually, Lebanon finances were mainly relying on immigrant money that were Not “wisely” invested in productive enterprises
Note 2: After each civil war, those “leaders” that devastated the country and ruined the social fabric and prevented daily trade and communication among the communities, always returned to control and rule this pseudo-State. And they are still in power and controlling every public institution, (including the justice system, the internal forces, sections of the army… and hoarding monopolies in every sector of the economy))

. لم نولد كلنا من رحم ديني واحد. جئنا هذا العالم مزودين بإرث رضعناه وانتمينا اليه.
يفرض علينا احترام معتقدات الآخرين، ليس ممالأة، بل اعترافا بأن لا فضل لأحد في ذلك، فما نرثه نأخذه، تماما كما يرث الآخر من تراثه ما يتناسب وسلالته. فلا فضل لمؤمن على مؤمن. لم نختر دياناتنا ولا الهتنا ولا معتقداتنا. انها ارثنا الذي ولدنا منه، ومعه نكمل الطريق… هؤلاء يسمون مؤمنين.
يلزم عدم الاكتفاء بهجاء الطائفي. هذا كائن يخلط بين الايمان وبين الممارسة. الطائفي عدواني. لا يعترف بروحية دينه ويلتزم به، بل لا يهمه الدين كثيراً. ابلغ ما يهتم به، تحويل الطائفة إلى معسكر عدواني.
لا يلام المؤمن ابداً إذا كان يمارس طقوس دينه. هذا واجبه الطبيعي. ولكنه يلام، عندما يستدعي مخزونه الديني، ويطيفه، ويسيسه، ويقود معارك مكتومة، خبيثة، حاقدة، ضد من يختلف معه، دينا وطائفة..
لا نعتدي على الطائفي إن قلنا عنه انه كائن حقير. بل حقير جداً. لأنه مستعد أن يكذب، أن يطعن بالظهر، أن ينتهز، أن ينتقي فقط من هم مثله، تطيفاً وسلوكاً…
عرفنا في لبنان ابشع انماط الطائفيين. انهم يتكاذبون ويتآمرون ويتربصون ولا يهمهم من الوطن، الا حصتهم التي ينافسهم فيه، من هم مثلهم في الطوائف الأخرى.
ثم، أن مشكلة لبنان الوجودية، هي نتاج طبيعي لانتماءات الطائفيين إلى طوائفهم. انهم لا ينتمون إلى لبنان، الا عبر عبَارة المذهب والطائفة. لبنانهم الاقصى، هو لبنان الذي على قياس طوائفهم.
صدقوا. هذا هو لبنانهم اليوم.
لا اعفاء لزعماء العصابات الطائفية ابداً. هؤلاء قراصنة براً وبحراً وجواً وميناءً ومؤسسات. المشكلة هنا، ليست هؤلاء الذين يحظون بنعاج او دواب يسهل ركوبها والسير بها إلى اهدافهم القذرة.
ما يهمني هنا، هو الطائفي وليس الزعيم الطائفي. حظ الزعماء الطائفيين أن لديهم رعاع، نعاج يتبارون في تقديم الولاء والطاعة، ويقوسون مواقفهم على قياس ظهورهم، ليسهل على الزعيم ” المفدى” أن يمتطيها. الطائفي هو من تخلى عن احترامه لنفسه، فبخسها وحنى قامته ليصير مطية.
والطائفي ينطبق عليه سيل من الصفات، يتصف بها. فهو يكذب، عندما يتكلم في الوطن والوطنية، وطنه طائفته، وليذهب الآخرون إلى الجحيم. الطائفي انتهازي تافه، يظهر عليه ذلك، عندما ينتقد بصوت ومفردات لاذعة، زعيم وزبانية الطوائف المخاصمة له.
طائفيوا لبنان هم ظهور مقوسة ليركبها القائد وحاشيته وعائلته. لا يهمهم إلى اين يقودهم هؤلاء الزعماء. المهم انهم معاً في المركب الطائفي. ومن لا يصدق ذلك، فليستمع إلى المحللين السياسيين والاعلاميين الطائفيين، وحفلات السباب المسمى نقاشاً في الشاشات. كل ابن قحبة يدافع عن قحبته، ويشن هجوماً سافراً على شبيه من طائفة منافسة.
الطائفي، ليس مؤمنا بالمرة. اليهودي المؤمن لا يشبه اليهودي الصهيوني. والطائفي اللبناني، لا يشبه دينه ابداً. بل يشبه ويتشبه برجال دينه واحزابهم الطائفية وعليه، تبنى السياسة في لبنان تأسيساً على هذه القواعد،
وإلا، لماذا الخوف راهنا، من الذهاب إلى حرب طائفية، يسمونها اهلية. انها حرب عنصرية بحتة، لأن الطائفي لا يكتفي بتكفير خصومه، بل يرغب في هزيمته وتحجيمه، مدعياً أن التوازن الطائفي، المبني على السرقات المتبادلة، هو المطلوب.
ولا مرة كان التوازن الطائفي قائماً على “العدل الطائفي”.
تضم طائفة الحقيرين الكبيرة، “كفاءات” علمية وجامعية واختصاصية ومهنية ذات سمعة طيبة في ممارسة مهنتها. ولكن التزامها الطائفي، هو الالفباء، هو اولا، والاختصاص والتفوق هو في خدمة اغراض طائفية حقيرة.
كل طوائف ومذاهب لبنان، تضم هذه “الكفاءات”. والغريب، أن هذه الكفاءات الناجحة جداً في مهنتها، ليست بحاجة إلى أن تضع نفسها في خدمة زعيم حقير لا يفقه الا الغصب والاحتيال وتدوير الزوايا واقتناص الفرص والاثراء غير المشروع والسرقة والسطو ومد اليد للخارج.
احتاج إلى لكمة واقعية حتى أفهم هؤلاء “النخب” الممتازة.
كيف تقبل أن تضع على ظهرها جلالاً، مطية للزعيم، بدل أن تحمل شهادة اختصاصها، وتخوض فيها غمار الحياة الوطنية، لأنها ليست بحاجة… هنا لا بد من الاشارة إلى أن الطائفية اقوى مئات المرات من الطبقية. لاحظوا جيداً،
من تضم الطوائفيات اللبنانية. انها تضم الاثرياء حتى الفجور، والضعفاء حتى الفاقة. تضم العلماء والجهَال معاً… كيف يستقيم ذلك؟ يستقيم عندما تغيب القيم، ويُطاح بها، من اجل الكسب الطائفي الحرام.
ما يثير العجب ايضا، أن يكون الطائفي الذكي المتعلم، نصف طائفي، ويتعامل مع ابن الطائفة المنافسة على قاعدة تشكيل ارضية تفاهم. أي محاولة لإقامة السلم الطائفي، بدل العدالة الوطنية…
ما يثير الغضب، أن لا تخجل من النخب الطائفية، من ازدواجية السلوك. فهو طائفي ولا تكتمل طائفيته الممتازة، الا بصفقة يعقدها مع خصومه الطائفيين… وما يثير الاشمئزاز جداً، هو لجوء الطائفي، بعد هجره من طائفته او بعد تهجيره منها، اللجوء إلى طائفة أخرى… تذكروهم جيداً. انهم اسوأ خلق الطوائف. عيب.
لا يمكن أن تكون طائفياً قليلاً. القلة لا تعفيك من أنك طائفي، والأولوية لطائفتك. كما لا يمكن أن يكون العلماني، نصف علماني. العلمانية، نقاء تام من كل لوثة او غبار طائفي. ليس هناك نصف علماني، كما ليس هناك نصف طائفي ابداً.
لبنان على حافة التحلل. والكتل الطائفية مرصوصة الصفوف. تسلك السبل اللبنانية الطائفية بلا مواربة. اصحاب السلطة في لبنان عباقرة الطائفية:
استعرضوهم: احزاب طائفية مبرمة: “القوات”، “الكتائب”، “امل”، “المستقبل”، “الاشتراكي”، “المردة”، “حزب الله” في سياساته اللبنانية، كهلم،
يقرأون في كتاب الطائفية الرديء والمجرم. وما نحن فيه، دليل على حيوية هذه الآفات الطائفية، وعلى حماتها، الذين ذهبوا بلبنان إلى الكارثة. الكارثة هي الوليد الشرعي لهذه الطوائفيات المتحدة.
لا يتوقع أن تكون هناك حلول غير طائفية. فوز العلمانيين هو ضوء يشع في واقع لبنان السيء والمهني. العلماني كائن نظيف، لا لوثة طائفية تلطخ مسيرته.
اعود إلى البداية: المؤمن قريب إلى قلبي، واحترامه واجب. الطائفي حقير، واحتقاره واجب. فليبقَ ملعونا، مهما اختلفت طوائفياته المتنازعة على جثة وطن.
فيا أيها الطائفي. أنت حقير جداً. بل انت أكثر حقارة من المرتكب.

My contention, very plausible alternative of how Beirut was flattened. There are teams of insider criminals who planted a Fuel-Air Explosives (FAE) bomb in the Hangar #12 that disperse an aerosol cloud of oil fuel on the 2700 tons of nitrate of ammonium and other oxyde chemicals. This bomb is ignited by a detonator, producing massive explosions. After the fire increased and plumed, a non-radiating version of depleted uranium (a new electro-magnetic) missile was launched from a far away military jet that cannot be observed by the naked eye.
How Israel would have reacted if the port of Haifa, instead of Beirut, experienced the same devastation? I bet more than half the injured would have died for lack of individual zeal to come to the rescue. At 6 pm on August 5, 2020, the post of Beirut and all residential streets in that sea front (radius of 3 miles) were totally devastated.
All Lebanon militia/mafia “leaders” demanded from Israel to teach Hezbollah a “lesson”? They got a Flattened Beirut as a reward to their treacheries.
In 2016, the academic Etzioni writes: “I asked two American military officers what other options Israel has. They both pointed to Fuel-Air Explosives (FAE). Israel/US planned to flattened Beirut after August 7, 2020, the date the International Court was ready to announce its verdict on “Who assassinated late rafic Hariri in 2004”, but an event precipitated the date to August 4. Everybody knows that this Court is politically manipulated and intended to lay the blame on Hezbollah no matter what the evidence against that decision. The goal was to internationalize the political system in Lebanon as they succeeded to do in 2005. It happened that the Lebanese army had checked the hangar #12 and decided to relocate the 2,750 tons of nitrate of ammonium. Israel/US decided to pre-empt the attack and advance the date to August 4. This decision will fail to point the blame on Hezbollah, but the goal was to flatten Beirut and devastate the port, the only competitor to Haifa port.
Someone was asking who took the picture of the workers welding at the entrance of the Hangar #12. I replied;
the one who took this picture is a member of the team that planted the bomb that sprayed aerosol and fuel oil on the 2700 tons of nitrate of ammonium and then detonated the bomb. As the fire plumed a small “atomic” missile was launched to cause the conflagration that flattened all the port of Beirut and the building on the seafront.
The Lebanese dozen TV channels, in this tiny market of barely 5 millions, need outside infusion of liquidity. It is the Lebanese who created the fantastic story of Monster Hezbollah to keep the flow of foreign money and keep spreading fake news related to Hezbollah.
Most foreign entities give Hezbollah its due credit of restitutting to Lebanon the status of State to diplomats, though still a pseudo-State for how its treats its pseudo-citizens. Even our existential enemy Israel has given Hezbollah more credits that it ever dreamt of.

Very nonchalantly, foreign and local leaders are saying that the State of Lebanon will be no more? What that mean? That the UN will vote to oust Lebanon as a State? And what will become of this stretch of land? What about its pseudo-citizens? Will they be granted UN passports to roam the earth anywhere they wish?
All the lead personalities voiced the wrong message: The President, Hassan Nasrallah, the army… said that they had no knowledge of the existence of nitrate ammonium, or knew about this “piece of intelligence” very recently. They had their ministers, their deputies, the internal security forces, their public servants in every institutions…

When we lose the origin of our civilization: A shameful musical piece in the Baalbek event.
Just after the Lebanese national anthem, the orchestra delivered Verdi’s Nabucco, a piece related to the return of the Jews/Hebrew from Babylon.
Mind you that Israel is our existential enemy. Are our pseudo-State and our organizers ignorant of our civilization and the subject matter of the musical piece? Or we are governed by politicians who are totally mindless of the indignities they are shoving on the Lebanese pseudo-citizens?
They could Not decide on any better introduction musical piece in the Temple of Bacchus, a temple called Adon before the occupation of the Roman Empire.

وردت هذه الكلمة لحضرة الزعيم إيضاحًا لفكرة ذكرها الرفيق جورج عطيّة، ناموس الندوة الثقافية وقتذاك، في كلمته الّتي كانت قد سبقت كلمة الزعيم،
يقول فيها “إنّ الصعوبات تسبّب الخلق والإبداع”. ولعلّ تجربة مهرجان المَرانة الّذي أُقيم مساء الأحد الفائت (5 تمّوز 2020) في معبد “باخوس”[1]، احتفاءً بمئوية إعلان الجنرال غورو قيام “لبنان الكبير”، جاء تعبيرًا عن مَرانة شعبنا وقدرته على التكيّف في وجه الصعوبات.
ولكن، وعلى الرغم من الجهد المبذول لإنجاز المهرجان ونجاح هذا الجهد بتقديم المهرجان بالصورة الرائعة الّتي قُدِّم بها، برز “نغم نشاز” شوّه جوّ المهرجان، تجلّى بتقديم قطعة موسيقية (وردت بعد النشيد اللبناني ومقدِّمة Carmina Burana وعرض الصور التاريخي الأوّل)،
ألا وهي قطعة “نشيد (أو جوق) العبيد العبرانيين (Hebrew Slaves Chorus)” من أوبِّرا (Nabucco) لفيردي (Verdi)، المأخوذة بكاملها من كتاب التاناخ TaNaKh))، أي التُّورَاه (Torah) والأنبياء (Nabiim – بصيغة جمع المذكَّر السالم) والكتب (Ketubim) والّذي يمثّل ما يُسمَّى، خطأً، “العهد القديم” (مع كتب أُخرى) لمعظم الكنائس “المسيحية” (“غربية” و“شرقيّة”).
علمًا أنّ كلمة (Nabucco) هي مختصر لاسم (Nabucodonosor) أو، الأصحّ، نابو-كودوري-أوصور، الّذي حرَّف اليهود اسمه في تاناخهم وكتبهم التالية ليُصبح نبوخذنصَّر.
والمعلوم أنّ تشويه اليهود لاسم شخصٍ ما هو تحقير منهم لذاك الشخص. فهم يعتقدون أنّ لاسم الشخص نوع من التأثير عليه، فإذا تشوّه الاسم “تشوّه” الشخص بشكلٍ من الأشكال. ولا ندري لماذا اختيرت هذه القطعة بالذات لتُدرَج ضمن منهاج المهرجان. وربّما كان السبب ورود مقطع ضمن النشيد يتحدّث فيه كاتبه عن بلاده (صهيون) “الجميلة التعسة”!
أمّا ما يختصّ بمئويّة إعلان الجنرال غورو قيام “لبنان الكبير”، فنترك الردّ للأديب السوريّ جبران خليل جبران في مقالته المعروفة “لكم لبنانكم ولي لبناني”، والّتي ترجم عنوانها لصديقته ماري إليزابيت هاسكل “… سورياكم ليست سورياي وسورياي ليست سورياكم…”[2].
يبقى أنّ موعد تقديم المهرجان تزامن مع مناسبة تُعتبَرُ من الأهمّ والأسمى لدى كلّ سوريّ قوميّ اجتماعيّ هي مناسبة إعادة سعاده للأمّة وديعتها الّتي فيه عندما طلبتها، وما سبقها من معاناة له شخصيًّا ولجميع السوريين القوميين الّذين تعرّضوا لمختلف أنواع الاضطهاد والتعذيب، حتّى استشهاد عدد منهم، قبيل الثامن من تمّوز، استمرارًا لتاريخ 21 تمّوز 1949،
التاريخ الّذي شهد على فساد نظام كان الحزب يسعى لتغييره عندما نُفِّذ حُكم الإعدام بستّة من رفقاء سعاده على طريقة “6 و6 مكرَّر”. لكنّ دم من وقف دمه على أمّته وحياتها وعزّها وخيرها وسعادتها كفيل بتطهير أدران “موكب أجيال” هذه الأمّة، بكافّة أبنائها وبناتها، وإن كانت الطريق، طريق المعرفة، طويلة وشاقّة،
فـ“نحن القوميين الاجتماعيين قد … اخترنا هذه الطريق، على طولها وبطئها” (من خطاب سعاده في طلبة دمشق، 5 تشرين الثاني 1948).

وكان هذا المقطع بمثابة نشيد للوطنيين الإيطاليين في سعيهم لتحرير إيطاليا من السيطرة الأجنبية حتّى عام 1861، حتّى أنّ الكاتب والصحفي البارز جيورجيو سوافي كتب مقترِحًا باستبدال النشيد الوطني الإيطالي بـ Va, pensiero عام 1981.[6]

As the State of Lebanon is experiencing total bankruptcy at all levels, government, Central Bank and many dozens of private banks for barely 4.3 million pseudo-citizens, we still keep hearing of “How come these clever entrepreneurs allowed Lebanon to reach this bottom in our financial/economic conditions?”
Clever Entrepreneur my Ass
I have worked with a few Lebanese companies, abroad and in Lebanon, and my impressions are negative.
“What is clever entrepreneur my ass” is my honest opinion of how I perceive the mentality of doing business in our culture.
In 1980, I worked with a Lebanese company in Nigeria; the company contracted out public civil works, like highways, deforestation and spreading asphalt on major roads.
I was supposed to be assisting the plant manager for maintaining and repairing heavy-duty equipment in a remote town.
The engineers were to wear high brown boots, the kinds that fascist wore, for discrimination reasons; and the boots have to be shining in this mud riddled camp, boots shined by an African helper.
Engineers were not supposed to socialize with workers and mechanics, even if they were Lebanese.
Consequently, going out with mechanics was frowned at, and management would sanction me and tell me that workers would refrain from respecting me and obeying my orders….
I was not even permitted to read to the mechanics the contents of the repair and maintenance manuals originating from the manufacturer: Only the engineers and plant manager were to be the knowledgeable persons in the camp.
You had these mechanics who sincerely wanted to learn how to do their job right: they wanted to buy the proper tools and how they work, once they open their own shops back home.
Mechanics wanted knowledge and I translated to them from English into Arabic terms, even if the translation was Not that accurate, but they knew what I was conveying in knowledge. Management hated what I was doing and scorned me.
For example, one night, robbers killed four Nigerian guards in our camp.

The Lebanese citizens never enjoyed any quality products manufactured or produced in Lebanon: They are all exported and the Lebanese merchants import third grade products, change the labels, and poison our citizens.
Good fresh fruits are immediately exported in waiting six and eight-wheelers to Arab countries such as Saudi Kingdom, Kuwait, and Jordan…The citizens have to contend with the spoiled and smaller categories of fruits…
Lebanon produced four times its need of olive oil: They are all exported and the citizens have to consume the third grade leftover olive oil and import poisoned olive oil…
And you have this minister of industry encouraging the citizens to buy Lebanese manufactured products; where are those quality products?
Lebanon has a couple of pharmaceutical “factories”, producing aspirin…
For a couple of months, the citizens enjoyed low-cost aspirin-type of products. And Aspirin vanished from local market: The entire stocks were exported to Saudi Kingdom and the Lebanese had to contend with expensive imported aspirin that are no different than what we produced.
Syria manufactures 70% of its pharmaceutical needs and it is the Syrian government import only the expensive medicines that it does Not manufacture at bargain prices.
The Lebanese have no governments, we have been living in a pseudo-State since our Independence” in 1943.
The pseudo-citizens have to deal with the multitude of infamy and indignities on their own. We still have no public electricity, no potable water, no valid infrastructure, no public transportation, no one to listen to any demonstration and marches demands…
Who is the clever Lebanese Entrepreneur? Clever my ass!
Lebanon is still standing because the immigrants are sending money to their families back home. It turned out that 15% of our GDP is from transferred money, though 10% of these influx are re–invested overseas and nothing for any sustained money generation institutions within Lebanon.
The immigrants who made it, return just to build fancy palaces that stay empty, and then return to where they are making money.
Barely they overstay longer than two weeks: The peacocks have more important things to do with their lives.
The Lebanese “Christian immigrants” never contemplate to return and stay in Lebanon: They didn’t study and abused of their families’ money in order to return the favors in their old age parents.
The motto is “Let bygone be bygone” for every infamous events that occur among the tribal/feudal/sectarian Leaders.
From far away, they never miss an opportunity to cursing Lebanon and the Lebanese stupid mentality.
We have this youth movement demanding to change the political sectarian and feudal system.
What we need is a strong central government cracking down on these rascals of Lebanese entrepreneurs at home: The scums of entrepreneurs are the backbone of our degraded political and social structure and the one encouraging discrimination and medieval mentalities.

Si ce n’est moins… L’été prochain, je vais deux mois à Mykonos, Skiathos, Sifnos, Poros… » Bref, partout où ça finit en os.

L’électricité sera enfin donnée 24h/24 et les prix vont probablement augmenter. « Yi, c’est génial. » C’est vrai que c’est extraordinaire que l’un des services fondamentaux auxquels un citoyen (qui paye ses impôts, aussi minimes soient-ils) puisse accéder soit enfin disponible 24 heures sur 24.
C’est donc normal que ça soit plus cher. La bêtise comme on n’en fait plus. Roy Hamouche meurt assassiné, d’une balle dans la tête, logée par un monstre, après une altercation routière.
Le parquet requiert des poursuites contre les meurtriers présumés, et le crime ne restera pas impuni. « Walla, c’est bien. » Bien ? Bien de condamner un meurtrier ? Un mec nous insulte alors qu’il est en sens interdit, on klaxonne, rouspète et on cède le chemin. On ne sait jamais, peut-être qu’il a une arme.
On paye 300 dollars une salade, une viande et un verre de vin. Légitime, c’est un Black Angus Premium élevé dans les pâturages d’Aberdeen, croisé avec un Wagyu de Fujiyoshi et ramené à Beyrouth par DHL… « Je te jure, c’est le meilleur resto du Liban. »
Mais bien sûr. À New York, c’est combien ? Et à Tokyo ? Tokyo, où si l’on y passe ses vacances, coûterait moins cher qu’un week-end dans le Chouf.
Et la plage à 125$ la journée, pour nager dans une piscine chaude (la mer étant impraticable, à moins qu’on ait des pulsions suicidaires), s’éclater les tympans sur de la très mauvaise musique, manger une glace fondue et re-glacée, coincé sur un bed (à 50$) entre deux mecs bedonnants à cigare… C’est normal ?
Normal qu’on soit le pays le plus cher de la région ?
Celui qui a le taux de cancer le plus élevé de la MENA ? Normal que l’on croule sous une dette indécente au profit de quelques hommes et de leurs pay-rollers ?
Normal qu’on fonce droit dans le mur et qu’on le fasse le sourire aux lèvres en clamant à n’importe quel sourd qui voudrait l’entendre : « Mais noooon, la qualité de vie est top au Liban. Et la nightlife aussi. Et les services (pas ceux avec la plaque rouge évidemment). »
Et c’est normal que nous ne fassions rien ?
Effectivement, c’est tout à fait normal.
Parce que, même si nous applaudissons quelques (très) belles initiatives par-ci, par-là, ce que nous savons faire de mieux tient en un mot : rien.

Alain Bifani était l’invité de l’émission “Vision 2030” sur LBCI présentée par Albert Kostanian.
Ce projet de tout accaparer est celui de l’Association des Banques du Liban (ABL) dont l’auteur serait Riad Salamé, le gouverneur de la Banque du Liban (BDL) et qui est, semble-t-il, soutenu par la Commission des Finances et du Budget au Parlement.
Bifani a appelé à la fin du secret bancaire et à une enquête sur les propriétés immobilières au Liban et à l’étranger.
Le directeur général démissionnaire du ministère des Finances a confirmé que sa démission est définitive même si le gouvernement a aujourd’hui reporté d’une semaine son acceptation.
Alain Bifani a rejeté les critiques sur ses calculs de l’impact de la hausse des salaires que certains lui reprochent.
Le haut-fonctionnaire a conclu en disant qu’il est possible de combler le gouffre financier en poussant ceux qui ont profité de la politique financière désastreuse en place depuis 1993 à contribuer.
Il a estimé que les prix augmentent du fait de l’utilisation par la BDL de la planche à billet (impression de livres libanaises).
Selon lui, l’échec actuel du mandat du Président Michel Aoun est dû aux résistances des milieux politico-financiers contre les réformes.

Soon, the “pseudo-citizens” Lebanese will be considered as ripe by the UN to apply as “refugees” in their own country. We will be eligible/entitled to apply to many Nations for “residency status” and be invited for countless interviews. A year later, we will be assigned and shipped to one of the Nations that respect human rights and value dignity for every person.
It would be fairer for the UN to transfer the malignant sectarian/feudal/civil war mafia “leaders” and let us have a second more equitable try to establish a secular State, to all.
Frankly, I feel we are too rotten, to the bones, to manage such a feat of instituting a secular State: if we have failed during a century, then we are Not fit to be extended one of those “second chances” or hundred of times.
In the meantime (entretemps), the Lebanese, who want full citizenship, have to continue doing their due diligence to kick out the nefarious for life “leaders’, in order to earn a “spot under the sun”
