40 years ago: Late Syrian poet Nizar Kebbany described the current dangerous immigration trend
40 years ago, nobody in the Near or Middle-East countries imagined they will end up immigrating to Europe or any other countries on rickety boats, just to feel safe from the bloody insanity ravaging their countries.
We gathered as sheep on boats
We immigrated to the five continents
We could not find a single Arab trader to feed us or to buy us (except little pretty girls)
We didn’t locate a single revolutionary movement
That spared his dagger on our frail bodies…
