What do I think of Syrian and the Syrians
Syria has a new refurbished army, liked and supported by the Syrians.
Since 1974, the Syrian soldiers and lower ranked officers were trampled, humiliated, and abused by the Assad regime.
The soldiers were used as slaves to the high ranking officers, working to increase the wealth of the officers and the political structure of the Baath and Assad oligarchy.
The brave and steadfast Syrian soldiers were dispatched to fight outside their borders, in Lebanon and Iraq, without any good reasons and without the modicum of dignity.
The Syrian soldiers were left uncovered beside their tanks and air missiles, and harvested by Israeli fighter jets like sitting ducks.
The Syrian soldiers were assigned in freezing mountain tops, wearing sandals and thread bare blankets.
This is history. The new Syrian army has its own patriotic structure, honored and respected by the citizens and enjoying the confidence and support of the people who experienced unimaginable horrors and miseries.
All the recent victories against the terrorist armed factions have nothing to do with the standing power of Bashar Assad.
Bashar is just a figure head, a symbol of continuity for the State against the belligerent hateful neighbors and western powers.
The Syrian people suffered since 1974 from multiple indignities.
They were shackled, intimidated from expressing their opinion, denied the right to demonstrate their individual private entrepreneurship, to open up to foreign experiences… A people under the close surveillance of the Mukhabarat (secret services agents) and cowed into silence.
There were over 200,000 Kurds, born in Syria, who were denied even an Identity Cards. They were the “invisible” Syrians who could not secure a passport to leave, living in “No State” recognized by the UN. They were afraid of taking a bus to another city in order to avoid being checked by a security or a police man.
These Kurds have since secured “full citizenship” since the revolution started, as many minorities left incognito because no one dared to demand his rights.
These same Kurds are now fighting the extremist factions in the Kameshly and Hasakeh provinces by the Iraqi and Turkish borders. The terrorist factions want to secure an outlet for the stolen oil extracted in the region and sold to Turkey.
The brave Syrians lived in silence, in exchange of free primary and secondary schooling and for a national health care, low cost of medication and affordable basic foodstuff and clothing.
This armed civil war that was concocted and planned years ahead on Syria was never to fight and bring down the Assad regime: It was to ruin and humiliate the Syrians and the nation of Syria.
This nation that remained self-sufficient, even in the darkest periods in history. This people who was among the wealthiest among people throughout history.
What we have now is a “guerrilla State” so that the foreign States that hate the Syrian people stay in the dark of plans and objectives of the war in progress.
A guerrilla State intent on wiping out all the external extremist terrorist Islamic factions, particularly the Al Qaeda Nusra Front that pay allegiance to Zawahiri.
The Syrian people got the message clear and loud: they know exactly who are their nemesis and why they hate the Syrians as a people.
Syria is “The Arab”, the Arab culture, language, resistance, soul and spirit.
Without Syria there is no Arabic roots, culture and civilization.
Bashar will be re-elected, and not because he is loved, but in defiance as a symbol of continuity of the institutions.
Bashar will ultimately bow down to the determination of the Syrians to start a new beginning, and he will graciously fade away once a political settlement is achieved.
And the negotiations will be carried out with the new refurbished “Free Syrian Army” opposition, after it let go of and discard all its leaders who closely cooperated with Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and France.
The Syrian people have pinpointed their nemesis:
1. Israel who has known from its inception that Syria is the sole danger for its existence and that the Syrians will never acknowledge this foreign implanted State in the Near East.
2. Monarchic Wahhabi Saudi Arabia that knows that Syria is the main obstacle to the widespread of its obscurantist sect in the Near East. Actually, the main ally to Israel is Saudi Arabia.
3. Turkey and regardless of who is in power: the military of the current Moslem Brotherhood. Turkey has made it a strategy to regularly humiliate, threaten, blackmail and antagonize the Syrian people.
Turkey wants to cut-off the water supply of the Euphrates River to Syria by building more and more dams without any serious negotiation with Syria. And Turkey has occupied the north-western province of Alexandretta during the French mandate in 1936.
4. The previous mandated power of France has been the arch traitor to Syria’s interests since it vacated its troops in 1936 and has been trying to destabilize this State at every opportunity.
The French political system actually hate the Syrian people and totally and unconditionally support the Zionist State of Israel. since its inception in 1948. France was the main weapon provider to Israel for 2 decades and built Israel nuclear power plant and aided in its atomic bombs.
5. Germany is another State that staunchly aided Israel in all kinds of financial aids and nuclear submarines. Germany was the main supplier of weapons to the armed Syrian factions and reeked plenty of money from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and the Gulf Emirates in order for the civil war to linger.
There are about 1, 25 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon and will reach 1.5 million by the end of this year: A third of Lebanon’s population and they are constituting a huge burden on the capability of this tiny State that is suffering from economic downturn for 2 successive years and struggling with internal and external political pressures and conflicts.
The able Syrians have demonstrated entrepreneur talents and are opening side businesses and getting involved in the civil work construction. It is the Syrian kids, women, the elderly and the handicapped who are not receiving the proper care and facilities for education and health care. And only 17% of the promised $1.7 billion have been forthcoming.
The Syrian refugees have started their journey back home.
The regions of 16 million Syrians have been liberated from the extremist factions, and only the second city of Aleppo (the industrial hub) is still not fully secured.
This extended calamity has toughen the Syrians up to resist any other kinds of oligarchy to sneak in the cracks of intimidation and political maneuvering.
Syria will regain a glory that was denied her and will keep resisting any foreign meddling in its business of extending dignity to all its citizens.
Democracy and civil laws will prevail in Syria: The true revolution in the Arab world.

How can I win the war on “Terrorism”? Part two; (Jan. 28, 2010)
I set the fundamentals in part one. This part dwells on details. Ilyass Kashmiri is presumably the Pakistani leader of the Islamic Kashmir independence movement (from the Indian Kashmir region). Ilyass’s movement is called Lashkar Al Zil (army of the shadow). In Arabic, Zil means shade and Zol means indignity; thus, it depends how the word is understood or pronounced in that part of Pakistan. Lashkar Al Zil was known as Brigade 055 (was it initially a brigade of the Pakistani army?) Lashkar Al Zil has vast networks for intelligence gathering. It is understood that currently most of the radical Sunni Islamic movements, including Al Qaeda, are taking umbrage under Lashkar Al Zil and not the way around since it has established popular bases in many self-autonomous districts in north Pakistan.
Ilyass Kashmiri may be orchestrating most of the suicidal operations in Pakistan and Afghanistan; his movement has extended its influence in Yemen and Somalia (Al Chabab). Saleh Al Somali was killed by a drone in Pakistan in 2008. David Coleman Headly was arrested in Chicago for preparing the aggression on the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten; he participated in the Bombay massacre of November 2008 and Ilyass was one of Headly’s contacts.
Another Al Qaeda leader working with Ilyass is Yahya Al Libi. Yahya Al Libi is from Libya and his pragmatic goal is to overthrow the Kadhafi regime. In the mean time, Yahya Al Libi is taking the strategy of antagonizing the Islamic Shiaa sect movements (the Shiaa are mostly concentrated in Iran, Iraq, and India); the bombing of the mosque in Ramadi (Iraq) is of his doing (23 dead); the bombing of the Shiaa mosque in Karachi (Pakistan) resulted in 30 dead victims. Al Libi has a different strategy than Zawahiri (Egyptian and second in command in Al Qaeda) who wants to unite the forces of all Islamic forces.
Ilyass and Yahaya want the Western forces to intervene militarily so that they can infiltrate the Islamic masses at no cost to them. Currently, their first target is the Pakistani army that finally got carried away with the US pressures to attack the fundamentalists. The Pakistani government is realizing that the gamble was premature: the Pakistani army is suffering from this unpopular civil war and losing its status as the backbone for Pakistan unity among the various ethnic diversity groups.
The Lashkar Al Zil and its Afghanistan allies are preparing a counter offensive as snow melts against the Pakistani army in the districts of Khyber, Kurram, Hungu, and Orakzai (in Pakistan) and in the valley of Tera (facing the Afghan mountain chains of Tora Bora). Saudi Arabia is heavily involved in Yemen because this Wahhabi monarchy is conscious that the vise of the fundamentalist movements is closing on from all directions (Yemen, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, and eventually Egypt). Saudi Arabia has extended $two billion to the Yemenite government and moved its army and air force in operations in Yemen.
Some people believe that the USA is indeed fomenting these Islamic movements in order to have excuses for militarily accesses in Yemen and Somalia, in addition to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Arab Gulf mini-States. People believe that the US wants to secure Africa and the oil shipments in the Middle East. People have reached this implicit feeling of US definite conspiracy from past evidences and because the US is the only superpower to dominate all the seas and oceans by its naval forces. Actually, the US drones have been bombing targets in the sub-Sahara States of Africa (Mauritania, Chad, and Niger) for sometimes.
During the Bush Junior Administration, the CIA was extended the mission to develop its paramilitary branch (Special Activities Division SAD) in order to carry out vast secret operations. The former “private security service” company of Blackwater (re-named Xe) was and is sub-contracting a few of these CIA secret operations. Currently, the US government is pressuring Congress to drop all judiciary cases leveled against Blackwater operators.
The CIA was recently exposed by the suicide bombing of Humam Al Balawi in its Khost (Afghanistan) advanced post that killed 7 CIA agents and 6 other soldiers in December 2009. The Jordanian secret agent, Humam Al Balawi, was lent by Jordan to the CIA to facilitate intelligence gathering on extremist Sunni movements in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The CIA installed a series of support bases in South and East of Afghanistan to gather intelligence for drone attacks on particular “targets” of extremist leaders. The US military has boasted of killing over one hundred targets; most of the victims were civilians in “collateral damages”. The increased number of civilian casualties prompted the Pakistani government to get involved in the rules of engagement and drone operations.
The Afghan army is heavily infiltrated by Taliban elements: last week, the Capital Kabul awoke to a nightmare: it was rocked by 5 attacks on 5 government institutions, including the Presidential Palace of Karzai.
What is happening in the region are series of civil wars; the factions are mainly borrowing the discourse of Al Qaeda but this movement is plainly limited to fringe countries in Africa. Nevertheless, US Medias refuse to change the decades catch all term of Al Qaeda to means civil unrest and “terrorism” in Islamic states: they prefer disinformation instead of educating the public to the new realities. Is it simply because it is too “complex” for the little mind of the public to comprehend?
So far, the US has heavily fallen in the trap of disseminating the image of fighting Islam instead of targeting “terrorist” bases. More military involvement is bound to stick this image in the mind and heart of moderate Islamists who will be pressured to extend leniency attitudes to the extremist elements and factions.

Two factions, two strategies: Al Qaeda
Before 9/11, 2001 the media tried to convince people that the extremist Wahhabit terrorist organization Al Qaeda of Ussama bin Laden is a “parallel” central movement independent from any State in its decision and activities. Al Qaeda was financed and controlled directly by Saudi Arabia and Pakistan working in tandem to destabilize the Iranian Khomeini regime. During the Afghan soviet occupation the USA had direct interests to driving the Soviet trop into a quagmire of Islamist guerillas attacks of several Islamist factions supported by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Iran logistically, training, militarily and financially. Bin Laden is of a Wahhabit sect of the Saudi Monarchy ruling cast.
Currently, Al Qaeda is split into two drastic factions with allegiance to either Zawahiri or Al Liby strategies for Islam hegemony. Al Qaeda can no longer be described as “a parallel organization” because it is tightly controlled by regional powers and indirectly by the USA through these regional powers.
The Egyptian Zawahiri, labeled the second in command, had the strategy of an alliance of the Chiaa and Sunni Moslem sects to defeat the western domination of the Middle East and destabilizing the monarchs and dictators in this region. The Libyan Al Liby is rumored to be heading the second faction that is at war against the Chiaa power in Iran, Iraq, and part of Lebanon. Al Liby has succeeded to Al Zarkawi who was killed in 2006 in Iraq and was responsible for mass suicide attacks of the Iraqi Chiaas during the US occupation. Al Zarkawi was a recless terrorist with no medium term strategy and antagonized his financial sponsors of Saudi Arabia and the USA. Al Liby is a serious match to Zawahiri’s strategy, though I cannot see but failure in sectarian wars.
Al Liby strategy is ultimately targeting the Kadhafi regime. Thus, strong alliance to the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood movement is a must for post President Mubarak reign. Kadhafi realized that he cannot fight on several fronts: the western interests, the African tribes in the south, and the tribes from the east along the Egyptian borders who have always been at odd with his enduring regime. Consequently, before Mubarak demise and the rise of the Moslem Brotherhood to power in Egypt Kadhafi had to make peace with the Western European States and the USA: he relinquished his nuclear program, paid the victims of the Lockerby disaster, and reopened bidding to discovering new oil fields. Kadhafi made it his main strategy to focus on Africa and secure the alliance of the States on his borders as buffers to infiltrations. As for his eastern front with Egypt Kadhafi met in a big rally with the bedwin tribes and harangued them as the true Arabs and keeping with the best customs and tradition of freedom loving people who enjoy open borders; the son of Kadhafi, Kazaaf El Dam was appointed head of the Libyan trade and cultural center in Cairo to gather intelligence on the Moslem Brotherhood and its interactions with Al Liby head of Al Qaeda competing faction. It is no secret that the ailing Bin Laden is heartily supporting the strategy of Al Liby.
Zawahiri comprehends that he must coordinate his activity with Iran since Saudi Arabia and Egypt insist on viewing Iran as their main enemy in the region. Syria has to juggle these two terrorist factions to its own interests relative to the US negotiations for normal diplomatic relations. Lebanon has to suffer because Chiaa Hezbollah and the Sunni Hariri clan take umbrage with the Qaeda factions in order to maintain their balance of power as the two largest sects in Lebanon.
