Al Hosn Festival in Gulf Emirate?

As I prepare to board my flight back home, a profound sense of longing and admiration fills me.
Parting ways with a loved family member (daughter) is always heavy, but this time, the grief is layered with a newfound love for the UAE, (a Gulf Emirate) a land that has imprinted its spirit onto mine.
Yesterday at the Al Hosn Festival, as the sun dipped into the horizon and the air resonated with the sounds of drums and laughter, I found myself listing the ten things that struck me most about this place—a mix of tangible beauty and intangible magic.
- Safety: The UAE emanates a sense of security that is rare in the world. Walking through bustling streets or serene beaches at any hour, I felt enveloped in an atmosphere of trust and peace. It’s a cornerstone of life here, creating a space where people thrive without fear.
- The Sun: The sun in the Emirates is not just a celestial body; it feels like a constant companion, painting the land with golden hues and energizing every day. From sunrise over the desert dunes to sunsets along the Gulf, it is a source of vitality and inspiration.
- The Desert: The vast, shifting sands of the desert are both humbling and exhilarating. There’s a quiet mystery in its ever-changing landscapes, teaching patience, resilience, and the beauty of impermanence. It’s a place that challenges and uplifts the soul.
- The Sea: The turquoise waters of the Persian Gulf hold a timeless allure. Walking barefoot along its shores, collecting sand dollars, or simply watching the waves reminds me of the interconnectedness of life and the power of nature to soothe and heal.
- Art and Culture: The love for art and cultural heritage is palpable here. From festivals like Al Hosn to world-class museums and performances, there’s a deep commitment to celebrating creativity and preserving the stories of the past while embracing the future.
- The People: Warm, generous, and welcoming—these are the words that come to mind when I think of the Emirati people. Their kindness, rooted in tradition, is evident in every encounter, whether with a vendor, a festival performer, or a stranger on the street.
