Randonnee #18. Continuing a walk in Cornet Chehwan (Metrn district, Lebanon)

Posted on: January 13, 2026

It is a Thursday, December 28, 2025.

Wonderful climate. Sunny and kind of chill. My guide Doudou arrived at 9:25. We parked at the St. Paul and Pierre church as last walk. Again, we walked the loop of the street and took a side street that could join the highway.

We turned left at a crossroad and entered one of the upper Byyada street. It was the first time that I visited this street, so was Doudou, a proof that my guide did not try this walk before. It was plainly a walk on streets and not much wild.

The street did not let sunlight to seep to the vast villas in the morning. The street was very quiet and almost deserted.

We linked with the road we previously walked that leads to the Marbad. We took a break at our modern and glass villas at the tip of the Marbad. We drank our water and ate the boulettes that Doudou cocottes with dried fruits.

About a dozen cars were parked: It is a working day for the constructors.

Again, we saw the Danish woman jogging with a young man and a family with children and dogs walking around. It was 10;20 and I told Doudou that I am timing the Duch lady when she will be back. She did not show up, and I assumed she must have opted for the longer road we have just walked.

I suggested to my guide to investigate a trail that run from the highway to Beit Kiko, a section of Ain Aar. She looked at her Google map and said that the trail will be mostly roads.

Doudou plan was to visit Message de Paix to order the plat du jour of dinde, turkey (deek 7abash) and rice. So, we drove to Bikfaya. We stopped at Moulin d’Or and I purchase a plain baguette.

We stopped at Tony Fakhoury to check what can be done with my hiking boots, the tops being maimed and need to be glued. He said that it cannot be repaired.

I was home around 2 pm.

Note: It is January 13, and since then we did not take a walk with my guide. In clear weather I just walk an hour in the neighborhood. Once, Doudou let me a message if I feel like taking a walk and I replied that it is fine with me, but I would appreciate it if I could only walk barefoot on a clean beach sand first. She did not respond.

A couple days later, Doudou posted pictures of her and Christian walking in the snow using snow Raquettes. And another picture of her offering a birthday cake on the trail to one of her friends.

Thus, I figured out that nature is demanding from me to hibernate in January like in older times. I think that I don’t mind what nature is asking since I have no cars.
