Finally, it’s happening. The waking up of what is Israel and Zionism

“The world is waking up. Slowly. But it’s happening.

Magic Johnson and other NBA players have cancelled their trip to Israel.

Disney heiress has just divested from an Israeli company.

Several Latin American countries, including Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, and El Salvador have recalled the Israeli ambassadors or severed trade ties with Israel.

Major celebrities are speaking out.

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have written an open letter condemning Israel’s bombardment of Gaza.

Many others, including John Legend, Madonna, Mia Farrow, and Russell Brand are also clearly voicing their disgust with Israel’s policies.

Millions are protesting around the world.

None of these protests have stopped the widespread destruction of Gaza, not yet.

And it won’t bring back all the 1,300+ dead.

But if enough pressure is applied on Israel, eventually we may be able to hope that one day it will be held accountable for its crimes against humanity, so that “Never Again” really will mean “Never Again” for all.”

 Responding to Israel’s U.S.-backed claim that its assault on Gaza is necessary because no country would tolerate the rocket fire from militants in Gaza, Siegman says:

“What undermines this principle is that no country and no people would live the way that Gazans have been made to live. …

The question of the morality of Israel’s action depends, in the first instance, on the question, couldn’t Israel be doing something [to prevent] this disaster that is playing out now, in terms of the destruction of human life?

Couldn’t Israel have done something that did not require that cost?

And the answer is, sure, they could have ended the occupation.”

HENRY SIEGMAN resumed:

” It’s disastrous. It’s disastrous, both in political terms, which is to say the situation cannot conceivably, certainly in the short run, lead to any positive results, to an improvement in the lives of either Israelis or Palestinians, and of course it’s disastrous in humanitarian terms, the kind of slaughter that’s taking place there.

It leads one virtually to a whole rethinking of this (Zionism) historical phenomenon

The war in Gaza has led to a serious crisis in Israel’s relations with Latin America.
The foreign ministries of Chile and Peru have announced they are calling their ambassadors in Tel Aviv in consultation to protest Israel’s operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.The moves comes on the heels of Brazil and Ecuador, who announced last week that they were recalling their envoys.”Given the escalation of Israeli military operations in Gaza, the Government of Chile, in coordination with others in our region, has decided to call in consultation Santiago Ambassador of Chile in Tel Aviv, Jorge Montero,” the Chilean foreign ministry in Santiago said in a statement.”Chile notes with great concern and dismay that such military operations, which at this stage of development are subject to a collective punishment against the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza do not respect fundamental rules of international humanitarian law.”

The Chilean foreign ministry emphasized the more than 1,400 Palestinians killed, including women and children during Operation Protective Edge, which continued for a 22nd day on Tuesday. The statement also noted Israel’s attacks “on schools and hospitals.”

The statement condemned rocket fire by Hamas against civilians in Israel, but said that “the scale and intensity of Israeli operations in Gaza violate the principle of proportionality in the use of force, an essential requirement to justify self-defense.” The statement also called “for an immediate end of hostilities” in Gaza.

In Lima, the Peruvian foreign ministry published a similar statement condemning Israel’s operation in Gaza.

Bolivia declares Israel a terrorist state, 42 years of visa free travel called off

LA PAZ – Bolivia on Wednesday renounced a visa exemption agreement with Israel in protest over its offensive in Gaza, and declared it a terrorist state.

President Evo Morales announced the move during a talk with a group of educators in the city of Cochabamba.
It “means, in other words, we are declaring (Israel) a terrorist state,” he said.

The treaty has allowed Israelis to travel freely to Bolivia without a visa since 1972.

Morales said the Gaza offensive shows “that Israel is not a guarantor of the principles of respect for life and the elementary precepts of rights that govern the peaceful and harmonious coexistence of our international community.”

More than two weeks of fighting in Gaza have left 1,300 dead and 7,000 wounded amid an intense Israeli air and ground campaign in response to missile attacks by the Islamist militant group Hamas.

In the latest development, 16 people were killed after two Israeli shells slammed into a United Nations school, drawing international protests. Bolivia broke off diplomatic relations with Israel in 2009 over a previous military operation in Gaza.

In mid-July, Morales filed a request with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to prosecute Israel for “crimes against humanity.”

Bardem, Cruz Denounce Israeli ‘Genocide’

Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Pedro Almodovar, and other members of the Spanish film industry sent a public letter to the European Union on Tuesday denouncing Israel for “genocide.”Dozens of Spanish actors, writers, musicians, directors, and other entertainment representatives asked the EU to “condemn the bombing by land, sea, and air against the Palestinian civilian population in the Gaza Strip.”The letter blamed the latest outbreak of violence squarely on Israel because it “continues to advance into and invade the Palestinian territories instead of returning to the 1967 borders.”

 

IN MEMORY: BASHIR AL-HAJJAR

Dr. Bashir Ibrahim al-Hajjar was an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the Islamic University of Gaza.

He was killed thisJuly 29, 2014 when Israel targeted a UNRWA vehicle in northern Gaza. His brother Samir was also killed in the attack.

Dr. al-Hajjar held 3 PhD degrees.

Some of his research included “Internet addiction and psychological morbidity among nursing students in Gaza-Palestine,” “Occupational stress among hospital nurses in Gaza-Palestine,” and “Gaza Nurses After War: Are They Traumatized?”

Horrible insight. I noted that cholera and typhoid that kills babies and kids follows bad sanitation.

Another noted that hospitals and power plants are being targeted.

We both realized that…disease is going to be rampant…Israel is not going to actually gas or incinerate the people now trapped in this appallingly dangerous refugee crisis but medicine and food can’t get to them…

Their water is about to run low and the wounded in their hospitals won’t have light for operations…

Waves of diseases are going to sweep through overcrowded refugee camps…they are going to die anyway en masse from disease and Israel won’t have had to pull the trigger.

I would so like to be wrong but as Brett Murphy said, otherwise why target the outlets that keep people healthy and keep water clean?

So clearly, the claims of Israel committing genocide against Palestinians are somewhat true.

They don’t dramatically round up people in gas chambers they are just slowly strangling as many as they can to death by denying them things they need to survive and not letting them escape.

The reports are all about immediate casualties but I don’t think they take into account the much greater number of people that have surely perished from dehydration, disease, and lack of medical care.

Why bomb their hospitals and power plants instead of simply sealing the tunnels or putting guards on them?

Very late where I am.

Events in Gaza go beyond words yesterday and today. We are witnessing a holocaust and those who do not rise up to stop it are complicit.

Prose fails at the murder of innocents.
